The Mahekal Beach Resort is a legendary resort village located on 800 feet of white sand beach in the heart of vibrant Playa del Carmen. It has 198 thatched roof, palapa-style bungalows within steps of Fifth Avenue, the celebrated entertainment, shopping, and restaurant district of Playa del Carmen. The thousands of loyal repeat guests at Mahekal Beach Resort describe it as magical, memorable, and authentically Yucatecan. Our style is friendly and relaxed, a unique Caribbean experience where you can rock gently in a hammock on your private terrace and enjoy undoubtedly the best beach in Playa. Our guests love the fact that we have never compromised our truly unique ambiance and style. In keeping with that style, our rooms do not offer televisions. Instead, they feature original, brightly colored, Mexican tile bathrooms, private terraces with hammocks for siestas and star gazing, and locally-crafted Mexican wood furniture in an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy our magical sanctuary. The Resort offers meal plans that include breakfast daily and lunch or dinner. This choice gives our guests the opportunity to explore the many dining options in Playa del Carmen.

Overall we all (18 of us on a corporate getaway) enjoyed the resort. Private beach, beautiful grounds, really pleasant and helpful staff. They're were a couple issues with room door locks (many seem to be mis-keyed or in need of replacement) and the first night there was a weddi

We came for just 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly. We had a fantastic waiter at the bar named Gilberto Ucan-he made sure we were taken care of at all times. Our palapa was beautiful and right on the beach. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 starts is

We stayed in unit 46 which I think was the best location. It has a partial ocean view but was better than ocean front units that get the people end up hanging out right infront of your pario because the beach is open to the public. The unit was also very quite compared to many ot

How much is the half boars option and what does it include? I read a few reviews and some said it was great other reviews said it was confusing and they had extra charges on their bills because they went over?
Are the meals "buffet style?" Can I bring bottled water in the room and is there the possibility of having a mini-fridge in the room?
The breakfast was buffet style (with a large variety of fruit juices)Dinner when we were there was Pre-fixed menu-with 2 to 3 choices of appt.,entree,desert. When we were there we did not have any problems (health/stomach issues) with the water that the restaurant provided (non bottled). They told us that the water is highly filtered for guest. I think they charge $10 USD per day for mini-fridge.

Does the resort ask for a deposit when checking in and can it by credit card? Also for the half board menu option, I was wondering if dinner and lunch can be switched or is it set to breakfast and lunch if that’s our first choice? Thank you.
Hola MizMars, Absolutely you can to use a credit card during the checking-in process, and about meal plan, the half board included the breakfast and dinner, you are able to switch the dinner for lunch if you want. Please contact our hotel team for further assistance ( info at mahekalplaya . c o m) We are not allowed to actually post the e-mail here so hope you can understand it. See you soon!

"if you want quiet, get a room in the center of the resort - that will be as far away from the nearby night clubs and the ocean."
"We had a garden palapa room near the fitness centre which was very quiet at night"
"Rooms by Las Olas are quiet with the buffet for breakfast and dinner"
"All the rooms are exceptional."
"A palapa near the beach is amazing - but can be noisy if there is a wedding/event .. it didn't bother us, but worth bearing in mind!"
