I picked the Allegro Playacar based on Trip Advisor submissions. My wife & I spent 2 weeks all-inclusive at the resort 24 Dec., 2010 - 8 Jan., 2011. Most of the time we were there had breakfast and dinner at the resort except for the times we were in Play del Carmen (PDC) or out exploring the country side or...

We have done a fair amount of traveling so I would rate this hotel as average for the money. This is the tropics so its not going to compare to home. There stuff does not have to have the standards that we do in Canada or the US so when you are comparing -compare apples to apples. If you want...

Rooms worse than cheap motel. No box springs, only cement slabs, mattresses almost as hard. Filth, afraid to touch things, wouldn't use hair dryer. 3 low watt filthy lamp fixtures, 2 burned out, waited 2 days for bulbs. Mold smell. Raw sewage smell 2 days. No hot water 2 times. Fruit ok but worst food I've ever tasted. Only allotted...

My wife and I and 16 others spent from 1-22-11 thru 1-29-11 in this resort . It was a nice place as far as location at the resort , (next to the pool ) , food was O.K. , (one week of that was enough--Missed U.S. food ). Now the problem........When you get a safe, make sure it works 24-7....

We don't like to complain, but this experience was unbelievable. We were... no kidding, counting the days to come home. Reading the reviews prior to going, we kept an open mind. However, the trip was so negative, we HAD to write this so that hopefully nobody has to go through what we did. The good: Location on the beach. Pool/Bar...

My husband and I just came back from a week at the Allegro Playacar. The resort was very different and unique. The 4 unit rooms are thatch covered and mexican style colored walls with ceramic tile. The top units are the same as the bottom other than they have balconies and although the bed was rock hard, I still had...

My husband and I have stayed at the Allegro four times over the last ten years or so. I ask myself what is it that keeps me coming back?. I think the two words that leap to mind are location and service. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk (5 minute cab ride) from Playa Del Carmen. The grounds...

I just returned from the Allegro Playacar. We got a good deal on an all inclusive trip, and it was worth every penny we paid. I don't know if I would pay full price for the resort though. The rooms were nice, they had air conditioning and a ceiling fan, we were in an upper room, so we had a...

Stayed at the Allegro from January 8th to January 15th, 2011. Booked through Nolitours. The grounds of the resort are extremely clean, and although the room we had was a bit sparten, it was very clean, lots of hot water, and the beds a little hard, found no problem sleeping. The food was excellent! Lots and lots of variety, something...

We just returned from a week at the Allegro Playacar and would probably stay there again. If you go expecting a 3 star, you won't be disappointed. We really liked the layout and that it's a small resort. And as much as we liked the 8-plex accomodations, your sleep really depends on who your immediate neighbours are. (Read; no soundproofing)....
