Had a wonderful time with the family! Only downside was there were not more Mexican eating options. When coming to Mexico, it would be nice to get more immersion into the Mexican culture. The amenities were nice and would happily come again.
It was a real pleasure to stay at Banyan Tree Mayakoba. Service is exceptional and provided with care. Accommodations are very well prepared and enjoyable. If you are planning a relaxing trip don’t miss this place.
This hotel is a great place to vacation the service people are very nice, the food is very good, the ambience is incredible and it is very inviting. I love the fact that they protect the wildlife and the animals that were there before the hotel was even built it's so beautiful to see nature untouched and protected. However I gave it four stars because though this is a 2020 "5 diamond award" winning hotel some of the rooms are 12 years old without any" major "updating or renovation. They are building new units which is appreciated however more money should be put towards updating the old units that they are still using and charging top dollar for. Other than that I had a wonderful time I would come back this time I would book the newer room and enjoy myself even more thank you P.S They need MORE beach umbrellas for the hotel guest..…
I decided to book a 7 day trip with my wife and 9 month baby and was not disappointed. Everything was amazing, and the staff was top notch. The workers were genuine and went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable. In particular, Marco at the Sands Beach club was excellent and made sure we were shaded and comfortable. The Sands pool had an amazing view of beach. It was also very convenient having our own pool/jacuzzi in our room for when our baby napped. The food was prepared as if we were eating fine dining every meal and the portions were generous so we understood why prices may be considered a bit high. I really enjoyed biking around the property and the free eco boat tour where we saw tons of birds, turtles, and even a crocodile. All in all, we would definitely come back, and next time may try to play a round of golf on their PGA course, El Chamaleon.…
I’m writing from our last evening here after a week of paradise at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba. My husband and I traveled here for spring break and my husband’s birthday with our 2 pre-teen and teen boys and had a blast. To start with, we were upgraded from the Serenity 2 bedroom villa to the spacious 3 bedroom Beachfront villa! What a splendid way to start our stay...after a simple and quick check in we were whisked away by boat to our luxurious villa where our boys went gaga for the accommodations. We had the lovely master suite and the boys chose to share a bedroom up top for gorgeous ocean views. The living room was the perfect spot for us to catch up on work, have a snack of fresh fruit that they replenished daily, and for my husband to have his early morning coffee without waking me from my lazy mornings...The villa pool was so spacious, and the boys had plenty of room to romp around, throw their football, and race from one end to another. I brought pool floats and found a peaceful corner of the pool to nap and relax...and the hammock was the perfect afternoon snooze. The best part was our resort host Carlos who took care of everything from reservations, to birthday decorations, to housekeeping coordination, to bubble baths set up during dinner, to transportation via boat and buggy. We used WhatsApp to keep in touch which was perfect. He was so responsive even in the off hours. When he was off for the weekend, we were smoothly transitioned to Raul who graciously continued the personal service in making sure all was well. We had a few minor issues with the villa around pool filtering and some tiny critters which were all addressed in very timely fashion. We also made some last minute switches around for reservations which were handled with grace and patience. We splurged and did the Haab dinner which was fun and delicious. Our host Henry taught us so much about the Mayan culture. We had him come to our villa for a in villa bbq as well where we feasted on our personal dinner of grilled steak, lobster, and freshly caught fish along with a plethora of apps, sides and desserts to round off the evening. Even for our youngest who is a picky eater, we ordered off room service menu and Henry made him feel special by cooking his teriyaki beef dinner on the grill with flambé show so he didn’t feel left out! We also checked out Cello where we had a great Italian dinner...there was a small snafu with my husband’s entree but the chef personally came out to apologize and they made sure to make things right. We did Saffron which was an incredible over water experience...we just were in Thailand for vacation a year ago before the pandemic so it is hard to impress us with Thai food, so I would say to go more for the setting and ambiance and adjust your expectations around the food...as you are in Mexico after all... :). The Sands is our dinner for tonight, although we did do lunches on the beach there. It’s a beautiful newly opened facility which vastly surpasses their older beach club area. The beach was pretty...very blue and Caribbean feeling. We experienced a few days of reported high sargassum days...but the resort did a good job cleaning it up off the shore. It didn’t bother us too much and we still got out into the ocean to swim. There is pretty bad beach erosion, however it looks like with the new beachfront villa being built there might be a good deal of sand dredged up where they could perhaps repair it. The staff is very accommodating in setting up chairs and umbrellas and bringing waters... We also checked out the rest of the Mayakoba resort both with a private ecotour and biking around the nature trails. It was a little hot so we didn’t last too long, but we did manage a fun archery lessons for the boys in the family as well as some nice A/C arcade gaming at the puebilta village. And we did a beautiful evening at the Andaz sotavento beach restaurant where we enjoyed grilled meats. Mostly though we enjoyed our time at the banyan tree resort. The best part of this vacation was feeling safe from the pandemic. The hotel staff all were very careful in wearing masks at all times. Even the groundskeepers who were working on the gardens wore masks at all times. The only ones who we saw without masks were the obvious Americans who seemed to live in a bubble. The staff however were generally good enough to smoothly offer masks and require them in the public areas. Of course, having private pools in the villas also makes this a pandemic safe stay. Restaurants all had outdoor seating, all activities outside our villa were outdoors...and Even our time at the Beach Club area we were able to safely socially distance from others in our lounge chairs. I very rarely ever write reviews, even though we regularly travel both within the US as well as around the world 4-6 times a year as a family...but I wanted to share our incredible experience here as it was noteworthy in the service and care they took. The Banyan tree by far had the most romantic ambiance. Just starting with the lobby itself gives you an idea of what a lovely place it is to be...especially in this crazy surreal world we just came out of with the 2020 pandemic...…
