We spent a week at the Angeles de Merida, a lovely B&B restored in 2004-05 in the historic center of the city. The restoration has created a wonderful setting for delicious breakfasts served by the pool--then back again for happy hours: white wine and delicious salsa. The rooms are large and John Truax is a gracious, cheerful and well-organized host....

Merida, is not what you expect of a Mexican city. First of all, it is sparkingly clean! Returning to the US was taking a step backwards aesthetically speaking. We actually saw one dirty, dented car while we were there. The rest looked as if they had just come from the carwash. The sidewalks of Merida's main drag are dotted with...

My flight leaving Houston was delayed due to bad weather. By the time I arrived at Angeles de Merida, it was past midnight and I was nearly two hours late. As my taxi neared the B&B’s unassuming entrance, I saw the outline of a person waiting in the glow of the doorway. As I quickly discovered, it was John Truax,...

Our stay at Angeles De Merida was one of the most enjoyable and relaxing vacations we have ever had. Our only regret was that we were only there 5 days. The food was great. The location was close enough to the markets and the center of the city but on a wonderful quiet street apart from the hustle and bustle....

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Angeles de Merida so much that we unwittingly overstayed our original stay by one night because we were so relaxed and absorbed by the gorgeous settings and wonderful service. Its in a great location only a couple of blocks walk from the main squares where you can find music, dancing, handicraft stores and restaurants....

My family and I really enjoyed our week long stay at Angeles de Merida Bed & Breakfast. The staff arranged the 93 Birthday Party for my mother. The staff at ADM arranged for live music, a cake and buffet prepared by the ADM”S Chief Lucrecia Flores. My family and the 40 guest truly enjoyed the party. My mother and her...

Staying here is like being with friends. The host John Truax has created a delightful tranquil environment in which to unwind after a hot day's sightseeing. There are 4 rooms with aircon that are furnished to a high standard and have nice hot showers. The "happy hour", which actually lasts much much longer, is becoming quite an event - especially...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Merida is a city of charming old houses and elegant architecture. A short walk from its historical center stands the Angeles de Merida Bed and Breakfast, housed in a remodeled 19th-century home once owned by a Spanish Count and Countess. Angeles de Merida Guest House was treated to complete renovation and design make-over, inside and out. All spaces have been redefined with a distinct mix of old and new, making the contrast between modern, minimalist interior and historic, traditional exterior a bit eclectic, as well as relaxed and comfortable. ... more   less
