During our trip through México we stayed two nights in Mérida. By accident we ended up in this guesthouse. After several nights in noisy hostals and B&B's, this was a nice surprise! Our room was clean, nicely decorated, spacious, with everything you could need (airco, fridge, tv, kingsize bed,...). The guesthouse itself was very cosy with small but clean swimming...

I stayed 4 nights at Casa Alvarez and the end of my Mexico trip and although it is not a 5 star hotel it is very cosy and nice and it was the best placed I stayed during my time in Mexico. Located on a busy street leading to the main square, outside the streets were busy and traffic was...

A lovely and quiet guesthouse very close to the center of merida!Clean rooms with air conditioning (or not if you want to spend less money) and a common space where you can relax on a deck chair and take a bath in a nice small pool or take a coffee (free) and check (with the free connection) e-mails on your...

I really enjoyed staying at Casa Alvarez - the friendliest place we have been to during our trip to Mexico. The owners were really helpful and you can see that they are passionate about what they are doing. The house itself is really nice, with clean rooms, nice kitchen, beatiful rooftop terrace. It is pretty calm too, taking into account...

To finish off my trip to Central America, Merida seemed like a great place to experience some real Yucatan Mexico, rather than the tourist traps of the Mayan Riveria. It took me a long time to decide where to stay in Merida. I was quite vary of some of the reviews for some hotels as there seemed to be a...

The alvarez couple are extremely friendly and very welcoming. Although our spanish was pretty meagre, they tried their best to communicate with us in english and make us feel at home. They have tours available to nearby mayan ruins at the best price in the area. Rooms were great - had an authentic mexican feel! The location couldnt be better....

This was undoubtedly the best place we've stayed in during our trip to Yucatan! The rooms are large, comfortable, and clean, the whole house looks amazing with the lime trees and the patio! The price was a little higher than in other places but it was all worth it because there was not one thing that was missing, out of...

Alvarez Guest House feels like a home. Enrique who run the place is very friendly and gives you great tips on where to eat good food for a cheap prize for example. We stayed in a great room and I couldn't be more satisfied with the stay. And the price? EXCELLENT! By the way they are building a swimming pool...

I had the pleasure of staying at Casa Alvarez for 9 days, and what the previous reviews say are all true--it's a lovely, peaceful, clean guest house run by wonderful hosts. I would certainly stay here again, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced and well-located guest house in Merida.

“All rooms are unique. Rooms 1. 2 and 3 are large and on the ground floor near the communal kitchen. Room 4 is tiny, but cozy and right next to the kitchen. Room five is midsized off the central courtyard. Room six is called "the penthouse" because it is on a third level with its own courtyard. Rooms 7 and 8 are off the balcony overlooking the entrance courtyard. Room nine, in the same area, is the only two-bedroom unit. Room ten is reserved for a couple who have been wintering at the case for the past nine years. Rooms 14 and 15 (no #13) are in a separate area above the pool area. All have their own charm.”
