We had a great time here with Charlie and Myriam. They are friendly and welcoming and keep the hotel in good shape. The location is close to the main square and the hotel is very secure. We had not planned on it, but we stayed in the penthouse. It was a great experience--a view of the cathedral and the city,... More

My partner and I stayed in Casa Alvarez for two nights whilst backpacking around Yucatan. Enrique and Miriam were most welcoming and courteous, upgrading us to the rooftop "penthouse" room at no extra charge. We had a huge king-sized bed, plenty of private space including a comfy seating area inside, an outside verandah with dining table and chairs, and all... More

Great location, very close to the city center. There is a wonderful little pool for an afternoon dip. Very friendly owners and a very cute mute kitty named Charlie. The rooms are big, pillows a little hard, and bathrooms are clean. The kitchen area is nice and there is plenty of purified water. The little fridges in the rooms are... More

We really felt at home in Casa Alvarez; from the moment we walked in and saw the old clocks and all the plants. We planned on staying two or three weeks and stayed over two months. Miriam and Enrique are just the sweetest, most hospitable hosts that we felt part over their family, especially when they say, "es su casa".... More

We spent 3 relaxing days here during Carnaval and felt totally at home. There was always coffee available in the kitchen where you could also cook your own meals. Plenty of room for all guests to lounge near the pool and in the open air area. Our hosts were very gracious. We love Merida and hope to return to this... More

My husband and I were backpacking the Yucatan and when arrived in the city we looked around at a few places (as we always do..we are backpackers;) When the place up the street that was recommended from travel books for Pool and social life was full the front desk kindly recommended this to us. O how happy we were that... More

We felt very much at home here. Sr. and Sra, Alverez are lovely people and helped me book a spa appointment and got us an early morning taxi to the airport. The rooms are basic but clean and the beds very comfortable. And despite being on a very busy street, the rooms are very quiet. Charley, the cat, ruled the... More

We were made to feel very welcome at Casa Alvarez by Miriam, who was lovely throughout our stay. Our room was very comfortable and came with its own fridge. There is a lovely pool and also a sun terrace for when the touristing gets too much. The atmosphere in the hotel is very calm and relaxed, and nothing is too... More

During our trip through México we stayed two nights in Mérida. By accident we ended up in this guesthouse. After several nights in noisy hostals and B&B's, this was a nice surprise! Our room was clean, nicely decorated, spacious, with everything you could need (airco, fridge, tv, kingsize bed,...). The guesthouse itself was very cosy with small but clean swimming... More

“All rooms are unique. Rooms 1. 2 and 3 are large and on the ground floor near the communal kitchen. Room 4 is tiny, but cozy and right next to the kitchen. Room five is midsized off the central courtyard. Room six is called "the penthouse" because it is on a third level with its own courtyard. Rooms 7 and 8 are off the balcony overlooking the entrance courtyard. Room nine, in the same area, is the only two-bedroom unit. Room ten is reserved for a couple who have been wintering at the case for the past nine years. Rooms 14 and 15 (no #13) are in a separate area above the pool area. All have their own charm.”
