I stayed here for 5 nights in mid October for the Oaxaca FilmFest. The room was small, but very clean. Housekeeping was attentive. The room was very quiet (I was in a room away from the road), and the beds were fairly comfy (and I'm picky about beds). My only complaint is that there is no closet, just a bar on the wall to hang clothes from. Every member of the staff was friendly and helpful. There was a large and decent breakfast buffet. The hotel is in a nice neighborhood (I never felt unsafe) and only about a 15 minute walk away from the Santo Domingo Cathedral, a walk through scenic neighborhoods. On a side note, I will say that the cabs the hotel called for me on the rare occasions when I didn't walk sometimes tried to charge me more than cabs I hailed myself, but I soon learned that there is generally a flat rate to the town center (can't remember what it was) and if someone tried to charge more I would just offer that rate instead and they'd immediately accept. Overall a nice clean helpful hotel. Not sure I would stay here again, I'd go for something with a little more local style perhaps, but for what it is the hotel is great.…
Met all of our needs: good breakfast, walking distance to downtown, helpful hotel employees. The hotel was clean, the elevators are quick, and the employees go out of their way to be helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
I stayed at City Express for 1 night. I had a great experience overall, beds were really comfortable. I had a TV in my room, which had a good quality stream. Even though the bathroom doesn’t count with a tub, the water flow and temperature control is good. Staff were really friendly since my arrival, they safely kept all of my luggage until I checked-in. Elevators are card-locked, I think this is really good because it keeps the hotel safe in some way. The price you pay for the stuff you get is fair. I didn’t have enough time to stay for breakfast, but I think they offer free bread, milk, yogurt, etc. I’d definitely come back.
First, I have to say that the hotel was very clean and well maintained, and the staff were wonderful! We ran into a horrible situation where my husband accidentally left his phone in a taxi cab and the front desk clerk luckily spoke English and was able to help us track down the cab and actually get his phone back! That being said, the place has absolutely zero character and the rooms are very bare bones. There is no closet, no mini fridge, no coffee pot - you even have to request an ice bucket at the front desk and sign-out a cork screw! It is also on a very busy 6 lane street with a constant stream of cars. there is no restaurant or bar, and not even one anywhere close by. it is on the edge of the center of town so everything is either a 15+ minute walk or a cab ride. It is sort of like a Motel 6. I would not recommend it.…
Upon arrival the hotel notified us they had canceled most of our reservations (15 rooms) for no apparent reason or notification from the hotel. The lack of professionalism and skills to solve difficult issues is alarming. Went to the hotel for four consecurive days to speak to the hotel manager, never had the professionalism to respond. In short we had 30 people with no room in a season where there is no availability in Oaxaca. The hotel meets the standards like any other from the city expresse family, however it is really troubling to have to deal with underqualified staff. We were left stranded with no support from the hotel that caused this abysmal mistake.
