Excellent stay, wonderful staff. Clean, quiet and a great location. Easy walk to city centro and many restaurants and coffee shops nearby. We would definitely stay again and recommend to friends. Rooftop bar had good cocktails. We stay in for meals however.

We love the location, though it was a bit of a walk to the central area. The staff were amazingly wonderful and friendly. The room was off the courtyard, but very dark. Also, we were below the kitchen, so the noise of furniture moving was very loud at night, but died down at around 10 o’clock. There were not many restaurants around except Le Bice Probre that served local cuisine but we walked to town a lot and found great restaurants. The pillows are way too big, so we use towels as our pillows. My only complaint besides the pillows was breakfast. It was delicious but service was supposed to begin at 7:30 yet that was merely a suggestion. We would get there at 7:30 but we couldn’t get coffee till 7:45 and therefore could not make a tour at 8 o’clock. Fortunately, we figured this out on day two and were able to pre-order our breakfast on a day. We had an 8 o’clock start. It does seem with such a beautiful, quaint hotel as this that they could have a coffee station or a place you could get coffee prior to 7:30 do in the morning. Other than that we love this place.

Wonderful boutique hotel. This place is located away from the downtown core, but an easy 15 min walk away. Surrounded by artist murals and funky cafes and shops. This place was an oasis with a rooftop pool and garden theme. The restaurant was outstanding and we ate there at least 5 times for breakfast, lunch or dinner during our 5 night stay. All the food was top level from a great chef! The room was well appointed, very clean and had a very comfortable bed. The only critique is the pillows are too stuffed. I would stay here again when back in Oaxaca, hands down!

This is a wonderful property. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The front desk staff spoke English (as well as a few other languages). The restaurant and bar are on the out door roof top. The atmosphere up there is wonderful as they have used large plants and trees to produce separate areas and cozy nooks. The rooms seemed larger than typical hotel rooms. The ceilings were high and the doors were made of beautiful woods. The actual location of the hotel is a few blocks from downtown but well worth the 4-5 block walk. It was nice not being right downtown with all the noise and tourists. Just a suggestion - I would not rent a car in Oaxaca. (Although there was free parking at the hotel). Taxi’s are plentiful.

Los Pilares was a wonderful place to stay for our 8 day vacation. We could walk to Santo Domingo and the “old town”, but we were far enough away to avoid late night crowds and noise. The room was beautiful and comfortable (we were in room 10). We spent a few afternoons at the rooftop bar and restaurant. The drinks and food were fantastic and the new chef de cuisine created a diverse and delicious dinner menu. The hotel personnel were exceptionally friendly and professional. I would stay here again and again.

Quiet, cute boutique hotel located in a cute little neighborhood within walking distance of the downtown area. Very clean, and helpful staff, especially Chris! He went out if his way. Has a cute rooftop eating with pool and hottub near by. Will definitely stay here next time i visit!

Our stay at Los Pilares was fine but I wouldn’t stay there again. The check in process was smooth and we were given plenty of information about the local area. The staff were always friendly and attentive. There was a lovely mini bottle of mezcal and Oaxacan chocolate on our bed when we arrived. We were in Room 8 which had no window, so there was a lack of natural light. The rooms downstairs are all centered around a seating area and the rooms upstairs are around the pool/bar area. We found our room to be quite noisy as you could hear people coming and going early or late. I can’t imagine any of the rooms could be particularly private/quiet based on the locations of them. Our room wasn’t very clean - we would get a shower and then walk around the room and our feet would be dirty, it definitely wasn’t mopped during our time. The air con was ok but not particularly powerful, it did the job for us. Again, the Wi-Fi was ok, not brilliant. The shower was ok, not brilliant - had to wait a while for it to get hot. The location is just outside of the centre on the edge of Jalatlaco which has some charming cafes and streets. It was about a 15 minute walk to most of the areas we wanted to visit in Oaxaca centre. The pool area was pleasant with a small pool and Jacuzzi and some comfy mattresses. There was also a bar and restaurant upstairs to purchase drinks or food. Overall I think I would choose somewhere more central with better facilities, the rooms felt a little outdated and could do with some TLC. Also worth noting!! There is a switch in the room that is the same as all light switches (and next to the light switches) that turns off all of the electricity for the whole room not just the lights!! This wasn’t explained to us so we woke up on the first morning wondering why nothing had charged overnight!

The staff at Pilares (Roque, Lucero, Chris among others) were very helpful and always offering to provide assistance. The rooms and common areas were super clean The pool was good to relax at and never felt crowded The location is great and very walkable to restaurants and sites in town. It felt very safe. The neighborhood has awesome murals and many small shops and restaurants, coffee, ice pops We would stay again!

There is absolutely no isolation in the room, either for noise or light from the patio. Bad experience with the staff when asking for paying attention to all the noise. It was impossible to rest in this hotel.

This place is beautiful. With a gorgeous rooftop pool and hot tub, perfect for hanging out after a day of seeing wonderful Oaxaca. Big comfy louge chairs, with drinks from the rooftop bar and restaurant. Perfect. The rooms are pretty basic. Ours opened onto the courtyard, so no sunlight or air coming through. The beds are too small for someone of moderate height. And, frankly, were pretty uncomfortable. I could not sleep well here. The staff were the best I had in a month of travelling Mexico. Just a terrific level of service. I'd stay here again for the chilled environment on the rooftop, and accept that I wouldn't get a great sleep.
