I normally don't write reviews, but seemed it's necessary to share this info with travelers. I read the reviews below and decided to give it a shot as I've been trying out different hotels in the area. And it was a total failure. First, there was a blackout in the area and I had no electricity, no internet, whatsoever. But,...

I found the location to be very good, just 3 blocks from Juarez metro and less than a 10 minute walk from the zocalo. Taxi were abundant and the traffic noise was only a factor for 1 row of rooms. The hotel itself was very clean and the room bigger than I expected. The bed were also very comfortable and...

We had been traveling all over sothern Mexico. Our last two nights were in Mexico City at the Hotel Metropol. As we walked into the lobby with a shinny marble floor it was evident that this was a nice place. The desk was helpful and friendly, the lobby was impressive and the room was great. The room was large, clean...

I recently stayed in Hotel Metropol with a couple of friends. We loved the location close to the zocalo, fine arts museum, etc. We were interested in going to Lagunilla open air antique market, so that was a fair walk, but otherwise it was centrally located to most of the places we wanted to see on our short visit. The...

I thought this hotel was great. Good location near the zocalo (main plaza), metro stations, restaurants and some famous sights in Mexico City. Staff were friendly. In room safe needs refundable deposit to use. Always had hot water. Restaurant in hotel was good. Rooms were clean and spacious for this type of hotel. A good stay. Sometimes can be noisy...

Positives: - good location - close to Bellas Artes, some 10 minutes from zocalo - typical western European standard of an average business hotel - no thrills, but no shame either - clean, spacey etc. - very good deal for the rooms booked over the internet, especially considering we are in the capital city. No downsides - I would come...

My Mexican Ancient Civilizations trip run by G Adventures (formerly Gap Adventures) used Hotel Metropol as the joining hotel. Compared to the previous hotel I stayed at in the Zocalo, I found that Hotel Metropol met all my basic needs at a more affordable price. However, the Internet on the free computer stations in the hotel wasn't working and this...

This place is only a few blocks from the Alemeda, and an easy walk to anything in the Historic Centre. The place is clean, if a little noisy (but that's Mexico City), and the staff are friendly and available all night for late arrivals. The staff's lack of English is not a problem, it's my lack of Spanish that causes...

We had a bad start to our trip to Mexico City as our transfer did not turn up to pick us up. Also when we arrived at the hotel Metrepol we did not have a booking, this was the fault of our travel agent. But even though we had no reservation the staff at the hotel gave us a room...

Staying in Alameda

Neighbourhood Profile
Alameda
This beautiful park was once the playground for the wealthiest families in the colonial era, and is now the perfect place where locals and visitors can spend a sunny weekend afternoon to relax or shop for souvenirs at the market. Kids can run around or grab a bite of cotton candy while teens and adults wander around admiring the charming gardens and the sculptures that adorn it. Once the heat rises, it may be time to visit one of the many cozy restaurants or cafés with its characteristic art nouveau facades to cool down and call it a day.
