Mazatlan, Mexico

This is a very Mexican hotel, which has lots of character and is very beautiful. Absolutely no English is spoken. I have recenly read a response posted by the owner, to counter a scathing review by a gringo. He opined that she was unreasonable in her complaint about the lack of English, writing words to the effect that he does...

We took a short road trip from Puerto Vallarta to San Blas and had a great time. The Hotel Hacienda Flamingos was amazing. Very charming old Mexican Hacienda. Beautiful grounds..very clean and the pool was great. We were there off season and had the entire hotel to ourselves. We were only sorry we didn't stay longer. The location was perfect,...

Drove Mazatlan to San Blas. No reservation to so just looked around. Very nice historic and full of antiques. Beautiful enclosed courtyard and off street parking. Price was reasonable but God forbid you dare ask if there are any discounts available. "There are other hotels if you don't like the price". I don't care if I'm stay at the Waldorf,...

Full of old school charm - we loved this hacienda. Of a bygone age. Lots of charming details, right down to the monogrammed bath robes and old family portraits lining the courtyard walls. We highly recommend a visit. Watch out for mosquitoes in town and surrounding beaches, we got savaged even in the daytime.

I feel sorry to read about some of the other reviewers' experiences at Hacienda Flamingos, as ours was very good on balance though not without issues. Yes, the beds are quite hard. On a scale from 1 (memory foam pillowtop) to 10 (concrete), they were probably an 8. We find this to be true in most Mexican-owned hotels, so we...

It's a very nice hotel...an oasis in San blas. The beds are HARD. I asked for two extra blankets to cushion the bed. There is an honor bar in the lobby. You pour your drink or take a beer from the fridge next to it then fill out the slip of paper for the front desk. They don't speak English...

I have stayed at Hacienda Flamingos a few times but never for this long. First, in 23 mornings I had one morning where I needed to add cold water to the hot in my shower. In other words, there was never hot water for a shower. My air conditioning was down for 4 hot nights before I asked to have...

We've visited San Blas 7 or 8 times over the years but never stayed here, only walked past and admired. Now we know what we missed. The interior courtyard is an absolute delight; every time I entered either from the street through the lobby or from our room I was dazzled by the beautiful plants, the fountain, the furnishings, the...

Loved the architecture especially the central courtyard. It was quiet and clean. The beds were comfortable. There was also an old school games room with a tilted ping pong table and a chess set which our teenagers used in the evening.

The Hacienda Flamingos is an absolute gem. A gorgeously restored hacienda, built in 1833, is warm, inviting and beyond comfortable. Each of the rooms in this hotel has a different theme, filled with mementos from the owner's family and their illustrious past. It's wonderful to wander the enclosed courtyard, filled with beautiful plants, tiled floors and artifacts. A lovely place...
