After reading the other reviews I was expecting a basic cheap hotel. What I was NOT expecting was to find a bathroom with the last guest's fluid on the toilet seat (!), dirty walls, and mildewy smell. The people who were in charge were super friendly, but I didn't want to stay. I found another place after the first night.

Was fortunate to stay here for four weeks when I first moved to Pto Vallarta. They went out of their way to make my stay very enjoyable. Hotel is in great location, any way you choose to walk, there is great food, great prices! Appox 7-8 blocks from the beach. Half a block away you can catch a bus to...

there are lots of cheap hotels in this area of Puerto Vallarta...the old town, the funkier part, which is where I like to be, but this was easily the best for one reason...the owners are just so friendly and helpful, they genuinely want you to have a good time. Amongst the friendliest hotels I have ever stayed in anywhere. It's...

Travelers BEWARE! I give my recent stay at the Hotel Hortencia (2/7-2/12/12) an overall 3 star rating. The reason for the "average" review are for the following reasons: NEGATIVE: 1.) the beds are stiff as a board (although the pillows were SUPER comfy) 2.) My AC unit did not work. They did have an unannounced repair man in my room...

Jorge and his staff are very friendly and genuinely helpful. The first room we were given had an intense musty/mouldy odour so we asked to be moved and with no problems and no fuss we were given a different room. This room was lovely and included a decent sized kitchenette. Location is excellent. Overall this place is very good value...

I would definately like to return to stay a week or more at hotel Hortencia. I really enjoyed the location, as well as the owners and...

I have been here for 3 days, and cannot say anything bad about the hotel. The staff is wonderful, Jorge and his son as well as other staff speak English. The room I have is on the street side with a balcony and of course there is traffic but not unbearable. If you have a problem sleeping, use earplugs, but...

I didn't know anything about this hotel when I came in to ask if they had any rooms available. Luckily for us, they did. Our room (#19) was on the 3rd floor facing the street. It was a bit noisy, with lots of traffic going by, but you can also hear music, birds, people talking as they go by, and...

The family who owns this hotel is wonderful, one of the nicest I have met in my many travels to Mexico. Their English is great - like most people in PV. We stayed on the street side and the bathrooms are newer than the other side, but the traffic is a bit noisy. But, we slept with the fan on...

“Ask them for one of the rooms with kitchen if you are going to be cooking, they only have a few available.”

“I am old, so requested ground floor, they made it happen. Rooms do have A/C if you need it. Has a fridge, great shower, very comfortable bed. Understand some rooms have two beds if needed, don't really know first hand.”

“No elevator. I lugged my heavy suit case up 3 flights of stairs to room #8. Dark stairways at night. Low level of security. You leave your keys at the front desk and anyone can walk in and either grab them or claim they are in your room. ALTHOUGH, the staff quickly learns who belongs to what rooms, so I never had any hesitation.”
