PERSONAL REVIEW I selected Hotel Pueblo Amigo because of the reviews and its proximity to my Dentist, Dr. Dalia (review will be available by 10/17/21). First, Tijuana is not like Cancun; so guests (American) should expect that people in Tijuana speak Spanish - so, get Google translate :-) Despite my broken Spanish, the staff was very friendly and patient as I worked to remember my high school Spanish. The hotel - and everywhere in TJ - takes health and safety very seriously. They take your temperature when you walk in the door, give hand sanitizer, everyone is wearing a mask, etc. Honestly, the compliance and way people adhere to rules is far more consistent here than in many parts of the US. We stayed in renovated/executive room. It looks just like the picture. Large room, comfy beds/bedding, etc. The only drawback: The shower door opens in, so that can be an ordeal. And there is not a view. But, the room was pleasant and the temperature was perfect. We ordered room service twice while here. The fruit/yogurt was amazing! That probably sound ridiculous, but it was super fresh and tasty. And room service was affordable. We learned that the "charge it to the room" concept isn't the same here, but it wasn't a big deal. Just hand the person cash or they have a card reader. There are taxis available, Uber will pick-up out front OR you can use a driver. Close by (on the other side of the plaza): grocery store, pharmacy, local restaurants, dog groomer and an amazing smoothie/fresh spot: La Bella de Miochana - just outside of Ley's.…
I have mixed feelings about my experience at Hotel Pueblo Amigo Casino. I was super excited to see that the executive rooms allowed for an early check-in and a late check-out, as I had to work remotely while there. I found that the rooms were fantastic, the only thing that seemed to be missing was some sort of fridge. There wasn't a way to keep things cool, and if there was an ice machine it wasn't super obvious. The room was clean, and the amentities in the bathroom more than covered my needs. The things that I had an issue with: The website states that there are canapes and drinks available from 5am -7pm. The actual time for this is 5pm-7pm. I must have checked several times before calling finally and being told it was PM. At 5:15 pm or so I ventured over to the lounge again and there was still nothing set out. Staff seemed confused about my questioning of the food and beverages, but then were able to get me a menu and I placed an order after about a 15 minute wait. Food was fresh and the drink was really good. I would imagine that perhaps before Covid food was set out like a buffet, but there was nothing out at all. Not even beverages like water, etc. I did not see anything going over there for breakfast the next morning, and honestly it felt like so much effort the night before that I felt bad so I didn't push it. The last bit of frustration was in the check-out situation. I received a call at 11:30am asking me if I was ready to depart by noon, and the staff seemed to be unaware that their website says that check-out is by 3pm for Executive rooms. My key stopped working at noon and they reauthorized it, but I had to run back downstairs for no reason, and then back up again. For $185 a night I expected a bit more.…
Stayed here for a night for our weekend trip in Tijuana. Overall, the hotel was clean and lively as it has a casino and bar. The room was spacious and the AC and hot water worked fine. The furniture and bathroom are a bit dated but it was a comfortable stay. Vague smell of cigarette smoke in the room, but that’s because it is a casino hotel.
I rented 3 rooms for three of us traveling for dental work. We stayed 4 nights. This was my first stay ever in Tijuana so I did research where to stay. My advice is to choose this hotel AND include the breakfast with the room. First, the rooms are large and clean. Second, the staff in the hotel, restaurant and casino are helpful, friendly and kind. Third, the restaurant food was outstanding with large portions. Breakfast was amazing. The shuttle took us basically anywhere we needed to go, including to Liberty Dentil Clinic. It is within blocks of the US Border. We used Magill's Shuttle Service. For $60 dollars he picked 3 of us up and drove us to the hotel. We hired his service to take us back to our San Diego hotel as well. On time, no issues. I have done a lot of travels, and this hotel was as good as they get. Please give them your business.…
Let me just start by saying this hotel and their staff were great! I went down there to take my daughter for a medical procedure. I dropped her off at 8 a.m. but their check in time is 3 p.m.. They bent over backwards to help me out and had a room ready by 11 a.m.. The rooms very extremely clean and comfortable. The hotel is taking extreme precautions due to Covid. They take your temperature at the door, supply hand sanitizer, and all employees are wearing masks with servers also wearing gloves. I ate multiple meals at the restaurant with the food being good, not very expensive, and again the waiters being so friendly and accommodating. The hotel has a shutter service and they drove me to the hospital to pick up my daughter so I didn't have to navigate the confusing streets of Tijuana. And as I was leaving, the nicest thing they did for me was to actually lead me to the border entrance we needed by following the shuttle driver there. If I go to Tijuana again, this is the only hotel I would stay in.…
