Yes the pictures look very colorful but that the only good thing about this hostel. The bathrooms are filthy with dead bugs everywhere as is the pool. We couldn’t get in swim as it was so unclean. They also charge you to use their kitchen making it less expensive to actually eat out. Also if you want to consume alcohol on the premises you have to buy it there (they will not allow you buy your own in the shop) and they charge double what you would pay in the shop for it. The staff also weren’t friendly at all and ignored us our whole stay. We were really glad to be leaving this place.
As beautifully decorated as on the pictures. The tents are very big (we could stand in it) had a electricity and a fan. Pool is small but lovely. The breakfast was very slow and the food was not great. Mostly families. Desert is amazing, go horseback riding!
This place is very nice, even if some bungalow have not the bathroom, the common service are even more confortable that in some other room with private bathroom in Tatacoa. Every particolar is weel done and the music is very nice and international. It is one of the few places that at the moment know how to enjoy tourists here!!!!
Very cute and colourful place about 15-20 minutes from Tatacoa desert and around 5 mins drive from Villavieja town. The little cottages are painted in pretty pastel colours as are the lounge chairs and they have a nice outdoor seating area with umbrellas and some hammocks which you need as the heat there during the day is intense. We stayed in the tents and there was a fan in it but during the day was too hot to be in it and it just circulated hot air. Luckily it cooled down a bit overnight. I was there with a friend and there was a double mattress and a single mattress but only 1 sheet but when we asked for another sheet we were told it was an extra charge for another sheet even though there was 2 of us. Also there are 2 jacuzzi’s but it is extra to use them too (this should be told to you when checking in). The pool is nice but small and you need it to cool off during the day. It would be good if the loungers by the pool had some shade too though as it’s just too hot to stay out. Breakfast was an additional 10,000 which I thought should be included and it was quite basic for the price of the tent, especially as there is nothing else round about to get something to eat. You can order lunch and dinner from the town though. We were also charged extra for a second cup of tea (which we weren’t told when we asked for it and the cup was tiny!) Moreover we think we were overcharged to go visit the desert at 60,000 COP each for the tuk tuk done through Dunas ( but a separate tuk tuk driver had said it would only be 30,000 each-so we felt a bit ripped off.) One night’s stay was sufficient to see the desert.…
We stayed at Dunas with myself my partner and my 8 month old and 3 year old the staff were friendly and accommodating, my in-laws had another room and my Aunty and her baby had another. Our 3 year old loved this place it was brightly coloured and everybody greeted her. The room was big enough and comfortable it had a fan no air con but surprisingly the room was comfortable the days were hot but the nights were a little cooler this is in April not sure about the rest of the year. The breakfast was freshly cooked each morning and was delicious. All in all a great basic place in the desert with a pool on top we were more than happy with our stay.
