We have traveled extensively in France, from five-star hotels to very humble B&B's and this hotel is extraordinary. The owner is an exceptional woman who gives this charming manor house her everything. The rooms are very comfortable, elegant, quirky and utterly charming. The meals are extraordinary and so very French. A feast for the eyes and senses. The owner has an...

Stopped for just one night on our way down through France. It is slightly off the route, but very accessible from Cherbourg and what a wonderful place to arrive at - a "maison fort" with huge walls and an arched gateway into a peaceful, sunny, courtyard. The lady of the house, Sophie, welcomed us and remained the most attentive and...

Staying with Sophie at Manoir de Coutainville was one of the most beautiful and wonderful experiences in France that we will forever remember. She is the most welcoming host and will do what she can to make you feel welcomed, relaxed and never wanted to leave. We will come back, Sophie!

We stayed 2 nights along with our nephew, wish it had been more. Sophie is an absolutely engaging host, full of energy, interesting anecdotes and excellent suggestions for touring and sight seeing. Her abilities in the kitchen were even more impressive, with delicious bread, preserves, pastries and the best scrambled eggs I have ever eaten. Evening meals were even better,...

We have had the pleasure of the Manoir de coutainville twice now. The first time when our cat died and Penny needed cheering up. We wandered into a tourist office and asked if they could find something for the weekend. We could not have found a more amiable host. Sophie speaks fluent English, Italian and, of course, french. She is...
