We have just spent one night at La Gueriniere as we visited some of the wonderful gardens in the Perigord. We had not stayed here before but is wonderfully located close to the Dordogne River, near many wonderful Chateaux and close to the great gardens. It is a small property approached off the main road up a winding tree lined drive. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. The accommodation is quite simple but more than adequate and terrific value for money. A fixed dinner, well prepared and presented is served to all guests at the same time around a communal table. We met fascinating fellow guests fro around Europe and farther afield. Breakfast is copious and with great variety. The hotel has a beautiful swimming pool surrounded by palms and other wonderful plantings. It felt more like one of the pools at the great California hotels. We sat on our terrace with a bottle of very interesting organic Bergerac while before dinner and had a great bottle of Pecharmont with dinner. The bill of just over 200 euros for two with room, dinner, breakfast, bottles of wine and water was amazing value.

This place is nicer than the photos suggest: up an unpaved road, on a hill, with lovely grounds and views. The food is traditional French and really, really good. The loudest thing were the frogs in the pond below.

When arriving at this property we were delighted. A wonderful place, very well maintained and clean. The outside sitting and pool area were excellent well screened with wonderful foliage. Our room was excellent as were those for the rest of our family. The only downside was having to pay with cash otherwise we can well recommend this accomodation. family. Only downside was having to pay by cash.

We booked to stay in one of the Gites (Lavande) with our 2 young daughters (aged 8 and 6). The accommodation was so comfortable and really felt like home from the minute we stepped in. On the night we arrived, we had dinner in the main building with the other guests and we were so impressed with the meal, the wine and the ambiance - Brigitte and Christophe's team work in the kitchen and out front were second to none. We enjoyed local dishes cooked to perfection. The grounds are charming, access is up a small road through the trees, fig trees abound along with a lot of lovingly cultivated flowers and other plants. As a base for touring the region, La Gueriniere is extremely well placed, with good access to so many wonderful places. As a family with small children we were less inclined to stay and relax all day by the pool (although it was lovely when we did, and had we been without kids, we would have spent a lot of time there), and we explored the region, packing a huge amount into our week. This included bike riding, taking a kayak down the Dorgdogne river, taking in some markets and exploring a couple of tourist destinations. Whilst being a busy week, this region has a pace that kept it all feeling very relaxed, and I am sure we will return! This is a perfect place to escape to, whether a family or a couple and we couldn't fault it. Merci beaucoup à Brigitte et Christophe!

We stayed here for a week "to relax" after long trips across France. The Gite is great for a small family but a bit lacking in privacy for three adults and only one bathroom which you need to go thru one of the bedrooms to get to. Otherwise perfect to see the Dordogne & Lot region. Nice pool area and views of the Cenac region.Tennis court available and a bbq. Wi-fi is free but you need to go to the reception.
