We (the wife and myself, and both sets of parents) had a one day stay at NatureCraft homestay with Mr Ansar, and it was wonderful. The rooms were simple (not plush, but neat and clean), but where this homestay differentiates itself from others is in the people running it. Mr Ansar and his family are embodiments of the spirit of hospitality. Mr Ansar himself is a thorough gentleman, engaging in his conversations, and always looking to help make the stay memorable. This could be by providing inputs on the best way to utilise time in Chikmagalur, or volunteering his own time and resources to address any small issues that are bothering his guests. And while he is a great conversationalist (able to sustain a conversation with people of my generation and my parents effortlessly), and knows a great deal about history, culture, farming and wildlife, to me his most admirable quality is his lack of airs. Like I mentioned before, a thorough gentleman. His wife and mother are both very warm and helpful, and excellent cooks besides. As others have pointed out, if notified in advance they will make a really good biryani, and are happy to engage in conversation about life on the coffee estates. Mrs Nishat is also very nifty with bottle decoration, and the pieces liven up the entire property. They have an amazing St Bernard named Poker, a gentle giant who will not hesitate to ask you for a rub. Their estate is compact, but is very well maintained. You could spend an hour or two just roaming around looking at the various flowers, and taking pictures among them. To summarise, the food is very good, and the hosts are excellent. This brought the 'home' in 'homestay' to life for us. Would definitely recommend, especially for a stay with family.

Highly recommended homestay in Chickmagalur. The hosts, the place, the serenity are all perfect. There is hardly anything to pin point in terms of short comings. I stayed here during Christmas 2019; and was the perfect setting for nice chilly evenings. The hosts are great cooks; and will only leave you craving for more!

I visited Naturecraft Homestay on 1st Nov and totally loved it. We reached at 3pm and Mr.Ansar was not around, so he told his lovely daughter to open the cottage for us. We rested for a while and then by 5pm came out of our cottages looking for some coffee or tea. Mr. Ansar's wife served us some hot coffee, which was one of the best coffee's I've ever had. The food was delicious. We were served Biryani, mutton curry, pulao for dinner. And Omlette, upma, vermicelli for breakfast. The location is great, if you love nature. Mr. Ansar was a great host and even helped us when we were stuck in a difficult situation near the Mullayanagiri peak. The USP of this place would be Mr. Ansar's St.Bernard named Poker. He's an amazing dog, who shows affection towards all the guests. Long story short, it was a great experience. Small suggestion: it would be nice to have some hot water for bathing in the evening as well. I've had the firewood geyser at my native place and i know it's a little troublesome to carry out the entire process. But I'm sure Mr. Ansar will take this comment positively. 😊😊 Thank you for the hospitality!!
