We stayed 3 nights at this friendly small hotel. The lounge areas were very comfortable and we found all the stuff to be cheerful and welcoming. Dirleton is a delightful, well kept village and the nearby coastal walks are bracing.

Popped in for Sunday lunch on 30/4, busy but they managed to fit us in with a table for two. Brilliant choice, fantastic value and really nice staff. Just couldn't be bettered. Try the steak, ale & black pudding pie - wonderful.
Dropped in when passing, having not been in for years.
Splendid early dinner, with friendly service and great food.
Fish particularly good, and a two course offer before 7pm made it all excellent value.

I'd probably recommend a more kid friendly hotel for a variety of OHSW reasons. It has good facilities but it is old and the stairs are steep and the road is "just there". If your child is aware and switched on and can endure no WIFI then it should be OK.
