We were welcomed immediately on arrival and made to feel at home. Our dog was welcomed and a water bowl and treat were both provided. Lunch was truly delicious. Extra effort hard been taken with every dish to make it special. Roast beef and horseradish sandwich has never tasted so good. Also pudding was scrumptious. Finally it was a bargain....

My friends and I had a lovely meal. When you step through the door it's like stepping into someone's home. We were made to feel very welcome, very attentive staff, food yummy, loving the new furniture and decoration (lovely toiletries in the bathroom too). Highly recommended.

Just returned from a fantastic weekend in the Borders for the Melrose 7's with 2 friends. We have stayed here for 3 consecutive years now and we love this hotel. The staff are so friendly & helpful, (even a winning tip on the Grand National, which covered the cost of the room! ) We have even got to know the...

We were on a bike packing trip from Edinburgh. Cold and miserable after hours of torrential rain. They welcomed us in, gave us lovely soup and handmade chips, offered us towels to wrap round ourselves and even put our gloves in the tumble drier. Total superstars. Above and beyond in terms of hospitality. Thank you!!!!

Only stopped off here with some colleagues for an evening meal. Nice quiet homely place. The menu was fairly small with only a few choices, but the food we had was excellent. Far better than I had expected to find in a pub in a small town.

My husband, dog and I stopped off for Sunday lunch on our drive home from the Borders to Perth. We chose the Black Bull because it is dog-friendly, and it genuinely is; there were several well-behaved canines in the bar area when we arrived, all being as well looked after as their humans. The staff and owners are incredibly friendly,...

After completing The Herring Road hike we desperately needed a warm bed and a good meal. The hosts were very accommodating considering we were soaked through, covered in mud and had no booking. All our wet clothes were washed and dried for us, ready in the morning (what a blessing!). We had a lovely meal and enjoyed a well earned...

I was staying with 3 colleagues for a 2 night stay for work in the local are and were pleasantly suprised with the high quality of service, food and accomadation. Our rooms were stunning with a huge bathroom and shower. We ate in both nights and between the four of us tried most things on the menu, which were all outstanding....

If you are passing through or staying in the area the staff are brilliant, food is very good and rooms are clean and comfortable. In a scenic area with walks and plenty to do for the out door types. Put on a very good buffet for an event held at the black bull.

Spent an evening and night with my wife to get away for a day and were not disappointed in anyway. Nice warm welcome, very friendly bar, fabulous new ensuite room and very nice food. Place feels cozy, relaxing and will definitely come again. Well worth a visit.
