What holds back this beautifully situated inn is the staff who did not know how to deal with our complaint of what was the worst steak I've eaten in many years. We received a shrug and some excuse. We should have been offered something to compensate - an extra desert, a brandy or anything to show willing. This left a...

We have stayed here and dined here a few times, however, the last time was pretty average. A lovely place with excellent food reviews thats why we choose it, sadly it was not that good in fact I would go so far as to say that the Chef was on Holiday when we visited! Hubby had a tart that was...

Lovely location and suitably off the beaten track. I eat here twice in one week. The midweek meal for a business dinner was great, and nicely presented to be fair. No qualms there. And Sunday lunch was also pretty good all round here, but for some minus points: starters, bread, desserts, be prepared for very small portions i.e. a couple...

Arrived late on Friday night, having had a bad day at work and having had the journey from hell due to train failures and then motorway roadworks. On arrival, the first person who greeted me was Jeanine ... a wonderful South African lass. She showed me to our room .... it was immaculate but I felt I was not sure...

The Bell is a truly lovely place to stay. We stayed for two nights, having dinner in the restaurant on both evenings. The food was excellent and the canapes given to us whilst we had an aperitif by the log fire were both welcome and delicious. The staff were all efficient and friendly and the room was stunning. We did...

My partner and I stayed at the hotel for a birthday weekend on a Saturday and Sunday night. The Bell is a beautiful inn at a great location, beautiful in the autumn. As soon as you walk into the Bell you can see that it is a really high quality establishment, clean and tastefully decorated. Our room was beautiful looking...

We had dinner at the Bell to celebrate a friends birthday and it could not have been better! To provide perfectly cooked fish for a starter, then to die for roast beef for 24 people, as well cooking for a fully booked restaurant is a real challenge, that the chef took in his stride. The service was friendly but always...

We are regulars at the Bell. & this restaurant never fails to impress. We love the holistic approach they take to their food with all veg supplied by their own kitchen garden (if you go during the day - take the opportunity to walk around it) and all other ingredients provided by local suppliers. On our most recent visit we...

Three of us recently enjoyed lunch here - I had quite quite the most delicious mackerel whilst my fellow guests ordered sirloin steak and smoked haddock risotto - all three dishes were outstanding in both flavour and presentation. All the staff hit the mark perfectly on being friendly, attentive and professional, they were also extremely patient as we spent quite...
