Huge, lovely rooms right on the beach, food to die for and such hospitality from the staff. Everything we could have wished for our vacation! Borrowed their vehicle and drove on the left side to the glass bridge, blue hole and preacher's cave. They motorboated us to Two Harbors for a fabulous meal at the Landing. Drove their golf cart around town. Relaxed on almost empty beaches and snorkled with turtles and sting rays. It was EPIC! Hope to visit again. Thanks Ben & staff!

Although the water, beach and views are stunning...the bad outweighs the good. What is marketed as a quite, private island experience is really a playground for families that want to let their kids run wild at a boutique style small resort. With only 3 tents and 3 shacks on the property you would expect privacy, peace and quiet...unfortunately that was not our experience. In addition to the families (not couples) that stayed here, the owners also live on property and had a loud birthday party for their own kids, complete with slip and slide, screaming kids and crying babies. Daily, a boat brings over tourists from the bustling town across the water, Harbor Island to have lunch at the little commune style restaurant and use the private beach. These daytime guests are not supposed to use the pool, but do anyway. The tents are mediocre, lacking the luxury of a high end glamping experience. Staff is friendly but the service is much more serve yourself and we will get to you if we can. The only exceptions to that were the amazing boat driver and bartender. The website makes it look like a paradise of seclusion perfect for honeymooners or a quiet couples retreat...when in reality it more resembles the movie Lord of The Flies. Such a shame, what could be so beautiful and peaceful is being over run and overpopulated. We will not be going back.

TOS is one of the most beautiful places I have visited in my travels. The glamping tents and shacks are large and rustically elegant. The amenities in the tents are few. The soap/shampoo containers are ones the last guest or guests have apparently used. The linens and towels smell like bleach. The one bottle of water they gave you upon check in was not replaced ,unless requested, and then you were charged. We had dreadful weather and terrible winds so our tents were terribly noisy, sleeping was difficult. (not the TOS fault) That being said, not once did anyone of the staff come to us and suggest an alternate activity to accomodate the bad weather. We learned on our last day from a tourist we met elsewhere , when we decided to venture out after we saw that we could borrow the car to take a ride, that there were beaches right down the main road from the TOS that were protected and easily accessible. We never put on swimsuits! for 3 days! The food for breakfast and lunch was displayed on chalk boards those never changed. I will say breakfast and lunch was delicious. Dinner on the other hand was not! Not only was it a set menu but also a surprise menu ? unless we asked, we had no idea what we were having and since we could not leave due to weather you would have thought that they might have asked us what we would have liked to have prepared.at $100 per person! incl grat The microgreens and baby tomatoes are grown on property , they were delicious. It was insulting to me or to any foodie/chef to be served a dry chicken breast with parmigiano cheese and oregano, served on top of overcooked ronzoni spaghetti, swimming in some sort of buttercreme sauce. then a granola bar coated in nutella? for dessert. There is no wine selection worth drinking, so bring your own. Dinner was to say the least a huge disappointment. This is the Bahamas man! Offer up the fresh grouper! Lobster! that you are known for. We sort of felt like we were on the spa plan. There is no lack of alcohlol and fun cocktails! the bar tender Theo took great care of everyone in that department. FYI no nuts or salty snacks anywhwere ever! and if you asked for something the response was let me see what we have???????? thats the first day 3 days later still no snacks! This beautiful self sustaining property needs hospitality lessons. And by the way, if you ask about the sand fleas and they tell you due to the wind they should not be a problem. NOT TRUE we are covered in bites. use the bug spray that is tucked away in the office tent. Pauline is the kindest person on the property. Did I mention that we were the only guests there for the majority of our stay!! BIG MISTAKE PEOPLE.

The owner, his family, their dogs, and their staff are all wonderful. The Other Side is located on a gorgeous beach, with beautiful waters and silky sands. Its food is outstanding (though lacks diversity) and the property operates on sustainable energy. The tents are huge and tastefully designed. But, there are a few real, regrettable, and avoidable shortcomings -- especially considering the prices they charge. If it is glamping, then the price should have been adjusted accordingly. 1. The biggest issue is comfort. Yes, the tents are spacey, but with a bit of wind their make an enormous amount of noise at night. The squeaking didn't allow us to sleep for an entire night. 2. The hotel is also lacking in some basic services: there is really no WiFi in the rooms and/or on the beach. Shower caps are not offered -- something that is necessary if you don't install shower handles. The gym could have a cardio machine, and so on... 3. Sand flies!!! We have travelled the world and dealt with all sorts of mosquitos. But the way sand flies on The Other Side's beach destroyed us is like nothing that we have ever experienced before. My wife and I both have at least a 100 bites all over our body and one week after our return from Bahamas they are still extremely itchy. 4. They sometimes have big external groups for lunch. So your peace and quiet at the beach could easily be undermined by kids and dogs who appeared out of no where. I hope they fix these issues, because otherwise it would just be a perfect and quiet Bahamian paradise.

How many places are so quiet that you can hear each frog chirping after sunset? How many places is the sky so clear it seems you can see all 5,000 visible stars? How many places do the other guests become fast friends and leave you aching to see them all again soon? The Other Side is one such place. My wife and I booked TOS to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. I know the area and many of the people pretty well because I and my family have been visiting nearby Harbour Island since before Bahamian Independence in 1973. Our huge and comfortable tent complex was FABULOUS. Spacious, well air conditioned (which mattered in late July!) the sleeping tent is really just an excuse to sleep before you step into the magnificent shower tent! Several times during late night outings I'd just stand near the huge tub and stare up at the glistening night sky! Take a walk in the bay and bring a mask and snorkel and enjoy the bonefish darting between your legs, the turtles swimming by, the wrasses and tangs swimming in the tiny clusters of coral in two or three feet of water. Ahhh. To me, the best thing about TOS -- beside the quiet, the fabulous staff, and the yummy food -- is access to the boat. A quick ride to Harbour Island for the day or dinner? Check! An impromptu snorkeling trip to one of the many small reefs dotting the bay? Check. A swing round the bay to marvel at some of the lovely old Briland houses -- and a few tasteless manses in the Narrows -- check! We'll be back!
