My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful one-week island vacation in St. Thomas with Frenchman’s Cove as our home base. Our arrangements were made through Interval International as a timeshare exchange. We requested a higher room in the Tortola building, and overall were pleased with this location. The pastel-colored resort buildings nestled amid tropical landscaping provide postcard perfect views of the Bay and St. Thomas Harbor. Our two-bedroom villa was spacious, clean, modern, and comfortable. Wi-fi was great and I loved having a washer/dryer in the unit. Each bedroom has its own balcony with table/chairs. We enjoyed morning coffee and evening wine here. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the essentials and there are gas grills conveniently located by the Tortola building (do not feed the iguanas as that can make them aggressive). Moe’s is less than a 10 min. drive away for groceries and their food/alcohol selection is amazing; Pueblos Food Market is across the street from Moe’s. We did not eat onsite at the Marriott restaurant so I can’t speak to quality. Both the restaurant and bar are conveniently located by the pool and outdoor seating is available. By the way, the infinity pool was sparkling clean as was the beach (maintenance does a great job of keeping things neat). We especially enjoyed the floating mats. One more plus: Frenchman’s Cove location provides gorgeous sunset views! Hotel staff were friendly and housekeeping requests for clean pool towels were promptly handled with meticulous follow-up by the front desk. The adjacent Marriott hotel and Morningstar Beach is still closed because of hurricane damage. I bet having those additional amenities available will only add to the resort experience. Just one callout about the Tortola building: the adjacent parking lot is not paved (gravel only). This lot was packed by mid-afternoons and on the weekend. Since all beaches on the island are public, I guess it was most likely visitors using the beach or taking a VI Cat Tour which leaves from the Marriott pier. There are no assigned parking spaces for Marriott guests in this lot (other buildings provide covered parking although I don’t know if spaces are assigned). Should you rent a vehicle? Absolutely, especially if you like to get out and about to explore as we do (just don’t rent from Avis!). Driving on St. Thomas is not for the faint of heart. The Marriott does have a little boat that shuttles guests back/forth to town (I think it is $7 one-way) and taxis are readily available. Would we return? Definitely!…
I stayed at Frenchman’s cove for Valentine’s Day with another couple and am happy I went. Yes, the price is a little steep but it’s so worth it!!! The resort is huge. And yes, it’s a resort. Pool is nice size. Private beach with floating devices in the middle that make for great chill spots and photos. The beach is open all night with no pesky security constantly walking by flashing lights in your face. Jacuzzi was great facing the beach. Definitely would stay here again.
My husband and I took our 10 year anniversary trip to St. Thomas USVI, January 2021. At the airport I pulled a ligament in my right knee, so I was a little worried about getting around at the Marriott Frenchman's Cove. Upon checking in I asked the front desk lady for something easy and accessible. She gave us a villa next to the elevator, so that made it easy to get around and still have a good view of the ocean. We didn't have our rental car yet, so security even drove us down to the elevator to make it easier for me to get settled in. The next day I went to take a bath and the water was green. Kind of freaked me out, but engineering showed up and let me know that it was the water heater and they quickly took care of the problem. They even sent housekeeping over to reclean the tub for me. Everything was done within 2 hours. Great service! The interior accommodations are really nice and quality. Beds are comfortable, good linens, nice pillows and there must be dehumidifiers installed because the humidity level in the room was not bad at all. Loved having the washer and dryer to easily wash beach clothes daily. The kitchen has everything you need. We especially like the blender for mixed drinks. Dinner on our balcony at night watching the sunset was beautiful. The AC worked great. Everything was very clean and we felt safe from Covid-19. All staff was wearing masks and very conscious of social distancing. The beach is small but very nice. If you want a chair, you need to go early. All the good spots get taken right away. The first few days we did not have a car, so we called the front desk and they would always send a taxi right down to our building. That was great considering my knee injury. When we did get a car there was plenty of parking including covered parking under our building and outdoor parking on the drive ways. Never had trouble parking and it was free. Internet connection was great. We used it for streaming and surfing without any problems. That was also free. The Bar and Grille was yummy! I can't say one bad thing about this place. I will definitely be back!…
Last year (before covid) my friend invited me to come down to St. Thomas. We stayed at a hotel close to the airport. Can't remember the name, but it was not anything "extra." However, we loved St. Thomas, generally. This year (during covid) my husband and I decided to get away for a week to celebrate his retirement and an early birthday. Frenchman's Cove did not disappoint. Great care was taken to ensure the 2-bedroom villa was clean. In fact, it was pristine! And well stocked with everything you could possibly want. If you needed more towels, toiletries, coffee, etc., they placed the items in a beautiful Marriott shopping bag so no one entered your room during the visit. They gave us a bottle of Chardonnay upon arrival, had socially distanced activities, and did everything they could to enforce the use of masks. One person per elevator unless part of a family, etc. The only down side is the fact that there is only one restaurant with a limited menu. But the wonderful bartenders with the generous portions of "spirits" made up it. The view from our villa was breathtaking! I highly recommend this resort; especially at this time of year since it was not terribly crowded.…
Spent a week here the first week of January. The resort takes COVID seriously and enforced social distancing. Hand sanitizer was all around. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. The refrigerator was hummin when we checked in and when we called the front desk, maintenance was there within 15 minutes and quickly fixed the problem. We inadvertently left our keys in the door one night and security took them and kept them safe until they could drop them off. It's a great COVIC vacation, since you can cook your own meals in your room (or grill at the outside grills), while spending time at the beach or pool. Staff were friendly. They offered several outstanding shore excursions directly from the dock at the resort - a snorkle sail to Turtle Beach and an evening dinner cruise. A real highlight was the nighttime kayaking with glass bottom boats lit up with LED lights. I highly recommend this resort!…
