We enjoyed the Buccaneer very much. Joel and the other concierge staff were very helpful and our room was very clean and comfortable. The beach was beautiful and the location of the hotel was ideal. The wait staff were all friendly. Our only complaint is that the food was overpriced for the quality. We found much better restaurants in Christiansted just down the road. Overall, we had a great experience and will be returning.

The property this place sits on is amazing. 2 beaches are easily walked to but the third is a ways a way. Included breakfast was good every day with new things to try daily. Free kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling gear and beautiful tennis courts. The golf course is very nice. We were upgraded to a room on the beach...very nice.

I booked a room in the Great House "Oceanview Room'. The room was a decent size and the balcony was nice with a great view. However, the 2nd floor rooms are located either on the side of the house or facing the front. My particular room was side facing and unfortunately I had to listen to a huge stand alone diesel generator rumble and roar continuously. There was no way to sit on the balcony and enjoy anything with that sound. Even with the doors closed you could still hear it. I don't know how the golfers on the golf course can enjoy their game with the sound of that thing. It's truly awful. Also, there is elevator. The rooms on the 2nd floor can only be reached by a couple of flights of marble stairs. I have some mobility issues so going up and down these stairs was tiresome. They do not provide slippers. I was disappointed because I read several reviews prior to my trip and people reported slippers. I carry some with me when needed but didn't take any on this trip. The floors in the rooms are cold and hard. The resort's boutigue and gift shop did not sell slippers or even a pair of socks. Note - these little shops are operating under odd hours. They aren't even open on Sunday and Monday so if you need something immediately, you better bring it with you or head to the Seaside Market to purchase. The rooms do not come with bottled water. However, the housekeeping staff will refill your insulated water pitcher with ice and water every day. That was very convenient. Getting around the resort is not for the for the mobility challenged. If you are staying at a room down at the beach front, you will have to walk up the steep hill every day to get to breakfast or drive your car. Once you find the car park, there are a couple more staircases to climb up to get into the Terrace Restaurant. Breakfast at the Terrace was OK. There is a served buffet. You can also order fresh made eggs from the server. I get the feeling they prefer you to get your pre-made made eggs from the buffet but I don't recommend them. However, be warned that placing your egg order with the server doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna get it. I waited an hour one day until I decided she forgot about it. When she brought me the ticket (so I could write in her "tip") I informed her that she forgot my eggs. She hustled quick at that point and had them right up. Service is hit or miss but tips are most definitely expected! In April there was only 1 restaurant operating for lunch and dinner (The Mermaid). It was pretty good. I dined early so beat the rush and service wasn't bad. Prices high though! I think a cesar salad with chicken was close to $30. It would have been most cost efficient to eat off the property but I wasn't feeling great. There is a little cat cafe where some cats hang out during the day. They aren't wild and crazy as one reviewer said. They seemed to be enjoying the nice weather and just hanging out not bothering anyone. The resort adds a daily tax and an energy surcharge to your daily bill. I was not aware of the energy charge! Randy the bell hop was great and Nadia at the front desk were the stars of my visit.

Spent a week at the Buccaneer. Property is beautiful. Found that the front desk was less than helpful. Rooms are large and very nice. Free breakfast is great, though the walk up to breakfast is a bit of a hike for us older folks. Lunch and dinner are served at the Mermaid restaurant near the beach. Did not eat lunch there, but had a few dinners there. The dinners there OK, but not worth the premium prices they charge. They seemed to be short staffed, so the service could be very slow. We ate at other upscale restaurants in the area that were much better, and adequately staffed. Extended our vacation, but moved to downtown, and frankly had more fun, for a lot less money. Won’t return.

We visited the Buccaneer for 5 days in April 2021. We had a relaxing stay in beautiful accommodations. With only one exception, the Staff ( front desk, restaurant, watersports, cleaning staff, concierge) were helpful, friendly, and extremely accommodating. We enjoyed all three beaches. Beaches are quiet and there is plenty of shade.. Hours were limited for the beach bar at Grotto Beach and dinner was only served until 7:30. Hope when we return it will be possible to get a late night snack and enjoy an afternoon drink at Grotto Beach. We only left the resort one afternoon for a sail to Buck Island. Buck Island is a must for snorkelers! It was very easy to arrange for a taxi and we were picked up right outside our room. If you are staying by the beach. Breakfast does require a little climb. The view from the top is breath taking and by the third day we rather looked forward to the morning hike up the hill. Everything we ate at the Mermaid was delicious! The breakfast buffet was good, but I would not say exceptional. Beach chairs and beach toys are plentiful. We snorkeled several times during our stay. There's stuff to see, but not the variety and colors that I remember when Snorkeling on St John. We were already planning our return the day we checked out. The natural beauty, the comfortable well maintained facilitates. and the accommodating staff made for a memorable stay.
