The bessemer is defo the best carvery in merthyr and for £10 it can't be beaten, staff are very friendly and always there to help with anything and also very helpful if you got a child with you the odder to carry your food over to your table for you 👍

Pleasant hotel tucked away in a housing estate. One half of the rooms must look towards the town, whereas the other half overlook back gardens of the houses behind. The room was a reasonable size and very clean. The bathroom was also large. Our bed was very comfortable with a nice warm duvet and soft pillows. Breakfast was continental and... More

Stayed here in Jan 2016 with 2 friends as walking Pen-y-fan. Stayed for 2 nights and must say the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Arranged for early breakfast for us so we could get out early and the room was clean and tidy with normal facilities as expected. Would definitely stay again if in the area. Thanks for... More

Stayed here last night and had a lovely visit. On holiday from Australia and all staff very friendly/hard working people telling us tourist spots. Room bit outdated but bed very comfortable and two pillows medium. Family run business. Had 'mad Friday ' and heard music but stopped at midnight. Had Carvery for dinner and very tasty and plenty of it.... More

We stayed for one night after a works Christmas do and we were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was - not that we expected it to be awful but there is a lot of variation in small hotels. Our room was large, very clean and had ample wardrobe & storage space. Our only grumble was that the room got... More

The decor reminded me of the hotel in The Shining, although the whole place was very clean and tidy. The room service said it was service from 4pm till 9pm (with snacks available at other times) but when we rang at 4.30pm we were told there was nothing till 6pm. The menu is very 1970s to match the decor (prawn... More

Stayed here overnight. Very good hotel with free parking, rooms comfortable but beds a bit creaky and TV could have been a bit larger. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Excellent meal in carvery and good made-to-order breakfast in the morning. Great value for what we paid.

Visited on a saturday night. Excellent staff, great steaks and gammon:-) Staff could not do enough for us. Please give them a pat on the back.Hotel was very picturesque from outside. However lacked character on the inside we sat in a booth which felt quite private. Definitely go back though.

Food was great as always. Pity the service wasn't up to the same standard. Booked a table for 2.30pm arrived at 2.20pm was finally eating our meal at 3 40pm. Far far too many people booked in at the same time. Would have to think twice before booking there again
