It is with very mixed emotions that I write this review about Anegada Beach Club. It is a beautiful property, and the beachfront tent that we had (with two outdoor bathtubs) was wonderful. However, the problem was that the beach was absolutely inundated with seaweed. And I don't mean a little bit, there was at least 8 feet of seaweed on the beach and a lot of it in the water as well. You can see this in my photos. While doing research for a place to say, I read that there was seaweed issue in the Virgin Islands. I wrote to the Anegada Beach Club in advance and specifically asked if there was any seaweed. I was told that "It comes and goes." On the phone, the representative made it seem like they were many clear days without seaweed. This was blatantly false. Part of the whole reason for going to a beach resort is to enjoy the beach. This was not possible at this resort. I brought up the issue to the front desk as politely as possible. I asked if it might be possible to go to a different beach on the island, but I was told that the entire island was inundated with seaweed. However, this was not the case. The Anegada Beach Resort has an affiliated restaurant on the south (opposite) side of the island called the Lobster Trap, which is fantastic by the way, and I highly recommend it. The resort offers a free shuttle bus to the restaurant. When we got there, we observed that there was no seaweed whatsoever on the beach by the restaurant. We felt that the hotel staff had been dishonest about the entire island being inundated. I asked if it might be possible to take the shuttle bus to another beach on the island, but I was told that was not possible. The front desk staff told us that we could take a taxi to another beach, but that it would cost $60 each way or $120 round-trip. This was absolutely inconceivable, because the island is literally 10 miles long and 2 miles wide! Another minor issue: the gentleman who showed us to our room told us about the various facilities available on site. He said there was a spa but that it was closed for the season. So my companion was quite surprised to find out the next day that the spa was in fact open, and she booked a massage. We were truly puzzled why an employee of the resort would discourage business at the spa by erroneously stating that it was closed. The final nail in the coffin was when we were taking off from Anegada airport, we were able to see miles and miles of beaches without any seaweed problems whatsoever. These are visible in the photos attached. I wrote to the owner about this issue, and she wrote back and said that they could not control nature, which is certainly true. But when I told her that I had specifically asked in advance if there was any seaweed, she completely ignored this question. When I asked why we couldn't use the same shuttle it took us to the restaurant to take us to another beach, she said that the. This whole concept of this whole notion that the entire island was inundated with seaweed was clearly false. Instead of hedging about the seaweed, the front desk staff should have been honest about the seaweed when I called them. If they had been, there's no way we would have booked a beach resort which was inundated by seaweed. This property made $1350 off of us by being completely dishonest, and I would warn anyone else against staying at this property because of this reason. I asked for some sort of adjustment to what we had paid, but the owner wasn't willing to budge by even a penny. I have stayed in hotels and 63 countries, and I've never experienced a scenario where the management wasn't willing to make at least a token adjustment to what we paid. The bottom line is, we paid $450 a night at a beach resort, but the beach was unusable and we weren't told about this when we asked in advance. Therefore, I can not recommend that anybody stay at this property.…
Booked pre COVID / island was closed down and resort still would not refund our funds. Only issue a credit or 80% refund / but if there is no way to get to the location a full refund should be given. Calls were placed and not returned. Emails were replied to but only after several were sent and days later. Seems they were off due to COVID.
My husband and I visited ABC for his birthday weekend celebration. (November 27th-30th) When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted warmly by the receptionist. She explained everything to us in details that we needed to know. Excellent service. We spent our first two nights in the hotel room. the room was well kept. Maid srevice everyday. Ice was provided. Thank God, the mosquiotes and sand flies didn't bother us in the room. The location of ABC is ideal. ABC is located directly on the beach my favourite place. The food at the resturant is second to none. We ate breakfast and dinner there. After spending two nights in the hotel room, the third night we spend it in a PalIapas....My GOD what a wonderful , Fantabilous, Excitianious, Excellentaious, I just can't find or create any more words to expre…
We are living in British Virgin Islands almost 14 years now and never visited Anegada and this is the first time we went to Anegada and stayed at Anegada Beach Club for 3 nights and celebrated our 9th Anniversary. What a wonderful treat at ABC. Start from booking to till check out everything was amazing. If you are looking for complete relaxation this is one of the best place I can suggest 100% for everyone it doesn’t matter if you are coming as a couple or family or single definitely you will enjoy it. Easy access to the resort. Warm welcome at the reception from kasha with full information about the entire property and Anegada ( you no need to google it she will guide you for everything 😇). Rooms are neat , tidy and well spaced. Comfort and spacious. Restaurant and pool just near by room . We had our breakfast, Lunch and Dinner almost all 3 days at this restaurant and food was amazing, especially coconut crusted French toasts at breakfast , shrimp curry at lunch and mango spiced jerk chicken at Dinner are yummy. One of the best part is beach. Nicely maintained with beach chairs and water sports equipment. Staffs are so friendly and helpful. Resort GM is very attentive and volunteer for everything you needed at the resort. We highly recommend this place for complete relaxation.…
We were only on Anegada for one day, but loved ABC! We enjoyed the perfect white sand beach, and had a delicious lunch of fresh grilled lobster and conch fritters. I mean really, REALLY good. The price was very fair as well, because the lobster was absolutely gigantic. We are already planning a return trip to the BVI where we can stay 2-3 nights in one of the "glamping" tent rooms!
