#3 of 5 B&Bs / Inns in Road Town

A & L Inn has fourteen attractive well-decorated and reasonably priced air-conditioned rooms (some with terraces) with telephone, wireless internet, television, and maid service. We are located in the centre of town; within walking distance to the Botanical Gardens, Main Street shopping, restaurants, churches, marinas and business centres. A & L Inn is also just a short drive to north shore beaches. A good value and convenience in an excellent in-town location.

First of all I was told I have to pay for an extra day since there wouldn't be any employees working on Christmas day to check me in. Odd,right? Well there is more to the story . When we arrived, I was stunned at the appearance of the INN.The carpet leading up to the stairs were wet, moldy and fifty beyond recognition . I literally almost puke on myself. When we finally entered the room it was nothing as advertised on their website which leads to false advertisement. The room was outdated, the comforters lost their patterns, the TV was extra small, Mosquitoes were biting us left and right. The carpet was disgusted. I felt so defeated knowing that we paid so much for the room that offers nothing and the fact that we had to pay for an extra day even though we weren't there. FYI: Please don't use this filthy INN. You are gonna regret it especially for the overpriced. Don't't let their website fool you. And mine you, it's also located in a busy "so called town". It is Just a Mess! Angry customer Lucia B

Response from Lisa S, Manager at A&L Inn

First of all this reviewer has presented a false overview of A & L Inn. Our rooms are very clean and well put together. We cannot accommodate for every size of TV that a guest might like. The price of $128.70 for three persons in a room inclusive of tax is quite reasonable. There was only one guest that I can recall that was checking in on Christmas Day. This is a day that we give all our staff time to spend with their family and friends. Therefore, we are closed on this day. The gentleman that came to make the reservation for these guests was told as much and we even have him a discount for the extra night. Also the gentleman who made the reservation asked to see a room just to make sure that the rooms were up to standard and said the room was fine. I am sorry that this guest did not have a good stay. Obviously they did not like the destination as they have also mocked the town. We have many satisfied guests as other reviews have showed. This guest is being malicious and petty.

It was an average hotel overpriced but everything on the island is. Basic room but fairly clean so no complaints, Road town is horrible but serves a purpose If you need somewhere to stay thats in a good location for ferries and to the airport then its good for that. When we stayed it was very empty so id guess late bookings wouldnt be a problem. Much better choice than other hotels on the island

Basic hotel. Rooms were adequate and not luxury. It DOES have very good internet. Lisa was very helpful in telling us about the area and making us feel welcomed. Not close to the beach, more a business or "waiting" hotel. We used the hotel before and after our boat charter. As stated before fairly step steps up to the 2nd floor.

I had a lovely time. The staff was really pleasant. The room were clean. My only issue is I wish they had more channels to watch on tv....other than that I would recommend anyone to stay there. Its a real convenient hotel...right in the heart of town.

When I first arrived at A&L Inn I was greeted by the hostess, she was very pleasant, I paid for my transaction (2 Weeks due to business). Was given my key and told my room was at the end of the hall. The décor was drab and quite outdated, leaving a lot to be desired from the pictures that were on the website. The bed(s) were comfortable, but I'd of preferred more blankets instead of the thinly veiled throw-over that is standard. Plenty of wardrobe space and a large fridge eluded to the fact that this hotel was most likely used by family's on a short stay budget vacation. The bathroom was where I had my major issue, the shower itself was the equivalent of being lightly misted with rain, or having a slightly damp sponge rung out over your head. Apart from this it was clean but the lack of facilities were a major let down, and by lack of I mean none whatsoever. No food, no breakfast, no transport, no laundry, which leads me to saying this ... No point in staying here. P.S if you do decide to stay here. bring ear plugs, it's located right next to a busy road and construction site.

A & L Inn is a budget friendly hotel. The British Virgin Islands can be an expensive destination and it is nice to have budget friendly options. We try to make every guest stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. I do not have a record of when this particular guest stayed at our inn. However, any issue with our hotel rooms are addressed if they are reported to our front desk. I assume that any problems with the shower was not reported to the front desk. Secondly, it is clear from our website that a restaurant is not attached to the property due to the fact that we are within walking distance to many restaurants, attractions and facilities in Tortola. A & L Inn's location in the heart of Road Town is one of our main attractions. There is a laundry right across the street. We are located on a busy street. However, we are not next to any construction site. There may have been road repairs which were being done throughout the territory to improve our infrastructure for our locals and tourists. The road repairs lasted for about a week in our area. I do regret any inconvenience caused to this guest. However, A & L Inn is a great choice for any length of stay. We continue to host guests from one night to six months in some cases.
