Travellers' Choice
Set 1,000 feet above the Caribbean Sea, with breath taking views of Saint Lucia’s Piton Mountains, Rabot Hotel is a space where the sounds of nature replace the noise of day-to-day life, stimulating and inspiring relaxation like nowhere else on Earth. Comprising an open-air restaurant, bar, spa and 14 luxury lodges, here you’ll find a sense of freedom as you reconnect with nature; sustainably living, eating and prioritising your wellness. Previously known as Boucan (the Creole word for a traditional cacao drying shed), the hotel is re-opening under a new name: Rabot Hotel, paying homage to the grounds of the beautiful cacao Rabot estate it resides in since 1745, an organic, sustainable 140-acre cacao farm on the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. As cacao growers, Hotel Chocolat use every part of their cacao harvests in their Rabot restaurant and Cacao Bar; from the lychee-like pulp to the nutty, buttery nibs, nothing goes to waste. Serving contemporary dishes influenced by the West Indies and Britain, roasted cacao beans feature as a subtle savoury spice and garnish – as well as the rich, deep heart of desserts. Elsewhere, cacao is used for wellness treatments at the Estate’s open-air rejuvenation area. Using fresh ingredients that are gathered each morning – banana leaves, peppermint leaves and cacao nibs – its Cacao Massages are some of the best you'll experience. Blending into the verdant greenery via inside-outside structures, each of the Estate’s lodges brings guests face-to-face with the primordial beauty of the rainforest and Hotel Chocolat’s Rabot Estate cacao farm. Drawing on Hotel Chocolat’s expertise as a chocolatier and cacao grower, Rabot Estate Hotel offers guests the opportunity to discover cacao like never before. Beginning with a walk through the cacao farm and ending with crafting your very own chocolate bar, Hotel Chocolat’s Tree-to-Bar Experience covers all the fascinating stages of making your own chocolate, from fermenting and sun-drying the cacao to grinding, mixing and more – with plenty of tasting in-between… Taking a self-guided stroll through the 140-acre Estate’s valleys and cotes or setting your yoga mat down in the forest surrounding your lodge are also actively encouraged. Leave the headphones behind; exotic birdsong provides the only meditative soundtrack you’ll need. Accommodation at Rabot Hotel is a unique blend of Saint Lucian charm and sleek contemporary style. All rooms are positioned to catch the cooling breeze and are furnished with premium luxury and comfort in mind – and the views are to die for. There are two types of accommodation, both with 4 poster beds, Ceiling fans, Complimentary wireless, Mini-bar & Open sky rainforest showers.

This hotel renewed us from the daily grind of our NYC lives. Every detail was so carefully tended to—from the spa, the beautiful grounds, the food, and tours. Our favorite highlights included white chocolate infused mashed potatoes, the balcony and open air shower (I think this might only be in the villas), a day trip to sugar beach, and the infinity pool overlooking the jungle. Also, you can’t visit a property by hôtel chocolat without making a chocolate bar yourself. Highly recommend the chocolate workshops and a visit to the cacao farm. If you’re looking for something utterly unique and peaceful, look no further. If you want something more suited to children or a friends’ trip, I would not really suggest Rabot Hotel. Saint Lucia will always hold a special place in our memories, and it was all thanks to the surreal experience we had at this incredible and serene hotel.

First things first, these pictures do zero justice to how beautiful this place is, from the view to the design. We stayed here for 5 nights, and I cannot express how much we miss the place and the staff. We stayed here over new years and the staff did everything they could to give us a covid- safe experience. We have told people we felt safer at the resort than we did in our own homes. The staff we friendly, personable and really went above and beyond for us. We would like to thank the bar staff, Antonio, Jessy and Elton, for introducing us to the best rum punch (we had a little too much), all the front desk ladies for their hospitality, their chefs for their yummy food, the friendly birds in the restaurant that would come and visit, and not forgetting the extremely friendly hotel kittens for their cuddles. We hope we can come back again one day. This place was a paradise for us!

My entire stay at Rabot by Hotel Chocolat was magical. The stay was warm, welcoming, helpful and ever present. They accommodated everything from making my birthday extra special to organizing excursions for me and my boyfriend. The food at the estate was spectacular and tasty (we literally tried everything on the menu). The rooms were individual bungalows that were both romantic and safely distanced from other guests. Moreover, the views from our hotel room and the pool looked onto the small piton, which is an indescribably beautiful landscape. All in all, I would highly recommend anyone looking to travel to St Lucia to stay at Rabot by Hotel Chocolat.

After 2020, heaven could have no better sister than the Rabot Hotel. Service, staff, accommodation were all outstanding, warm, friendly and incredibly attentive. From the perfect and indulgent cocktails on arrival, to EVERY single touch point with the hotel, the pool to the restaurant. Enjoy impromptu Chocolat tasting, new recipe samples and complimentary cocktails. Every single aspect was full of the indulgent extras that creates a truly sumptuous Hotel Chocolat experience. The tree to bean experience was truly a lifetime memory and I absolutely cannot wait to visit again. Thank you so much!

We spent three wonderful nights in Lodge 4 and could not in good conscious give Rabot Hotel anything less than 5 stars. How anyone could go through the rigours of paperwork to get to St Lucia and then not be aware at present you must stay on the property, unless with a guided excursion baffles me - and to blame the hotel? Ignore that review! The infinity pool was lovey to sit by and be up in the mountains with the sun shining down and Piton Mountain... The ultimate in relaxation! The lodge itself was very well appointed with U.K. 240v sockets. It is open to the elements, so as mentioned it previous reviews, please be careful of any wildlife that enters and use the mosquito repellent. Like most hotels in St Lucia, WiFi is patchy at best. There have been a few negative comments on the cost of food, but this is all relative. Coming from London we found the costs perfectly reasonable. Especially compared to the quality. My personal favourite was the line caught yellow fin tuna. Delicious. Not sure about the profiled / discrimination review? As a gay couple we certainly weren’t treated any different. In fact, it is the staff that make Rabot Hotel such a special place. They remembered our names and we were always met with a smile. The place feels very COVID safe without detracting from the enjoyment. Do yourself a favour and book the Bean to Bar experience. It will provide a new appreciation for the effort that goes in to manually making chocolate! Our guide was very knowledgeable. This was our first hotel before moving to a beach resort. I’d love the opportunity to stay here again and see how the trees we grafted are doing. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful introduction to St Lucia!
