Absolutely the best place I have ever stayed... Perfect everything... People, Room, Location, Manger, Restaurant, etc... The rooms are open on 2 ends so that the breeze flows thru, along with little birds!... You literally feel like you are in a 5 star hotel room OUTSIDE... Privacy is not an issue due to the location on the hillside... We never...

My lovely bride and I spent a memorable week at Ladera to celebrate her birthday and our wedding anniversary. The location is simply spectacular. Our three-walled room opened onto the Pitons and Ladera Bay, and we really could not get enough time with the views. The food and service at the restaurant, Dacheene, are world class. Every night they have...

The hotel has THE most fabulous view situated on the top of the ridge above the two pitons. It is a unique experience. We originally booked the gros piton suite but after one night found it too cramped with too much road noise. The hotel owner was most helpful and moved us to one of the paradise ridge suites. These...

We were stunned by the beauty of the situation of the hotel and the desire by the owners to be as environmentally aware as possible. The rooms were outstanding, having an open wall to the scenery is spectacular. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. We had a problem with noisy neighbours and were moved immediately. We...

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Ladera with some niggles which need to be addressed (hence the 4 star rating). The views from any part of the property need to be seen to be believed. The only places we've stayed in/visited which would compare would be Monument view at Monument valley and at El Tovar at Grand Canyon South Rim....

We stayed at Ladera for 3 nights as part of the Peak to Beach package with Cap Maison. Ladera is absolutely unique with its tropical gardens and the unbeatable view of the Pitons (we felt like we were staring at a green screen every day). We were welcomed with a cold drink and cool towels, and given a tour of...

To go to the beach you need to take a shuttle which only functions 2-3 times a day. Once there you have to pay extra to rent a chair. We had to pay $20.00 for a plastic chair that turned out to be broken. We did not expect to pay extra for a chair when we were paying $1,000.00 dollars...

We had a super stay at Ladera and were in complete awe of the view of the pitons. It's an unusual stay with 3 walls concept, but we thought it was great. Our room was large and the plunge pool was a good way to cool off in the afternoon. There is no tv at Ladera which adds to the...

I went on my honeymoon to Ladera last July. Ladera was incredible. It is unique in so many ways and it is exactly as the website says it is. It's paradise in so many ways. The views will be the best you have ever seen. I have never in my life been around a staff that was as genuinely caring...

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon at the AMAZING Ladera Resort...and I'm already anxious to plan our next trip there. I spent a long time researching places all over the world for our honeymoon. I had the "fairytale" honeymoon in my head, perhaps from watching too many movies, and I had a picture in my mind that...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ladera is the pioneer of the open air three-walled concept in St. Lucia and has since been distinguished by a wide range of international publications, awards and accolades from Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Forbes Life Caribbean Travel and Life, Brides Magazine and countless others. Ladera was once part of Rabot Estate, one of Soufriere's oldest plantations, which still borders the resort. In the late 1960's a parcel of land was sold and developed into a small cluster of condominiums and christened Dasheene, named after the thousands of large, glossy-leafed dasheen plants (also known as elephant ears) harvested on the site. In 1982 it was transformed into a unique resort and changed hands a number of times before emerging as Ladera under the current private ownership. The mission has always been to offer an unparalleled guest experience that is quintessentially Saint Lucian, one that embraces the magnificent views and offers harmony with the surrounding natural beauty and rich bounty of the island. Today, that commitment to sumptuous authenticity is evident in everything from the innovative renderings of fresh local dishes at Dasheene restaurant, to the use of Caribbean timbers, stone and tile work used in the guestrooms and public areas. Yet it shines through most effectively with warm and welcoming Saint Lucian staff. ... more   less
