This a stunning hotel. Its location makes you feel as though the boats moored in the Harbour are within touching distance and there is no separation between them and the Hotel grounds. The design and use of space of is incredibly creative and tasteful. There is so much attention to detail. Photographs cannot possibly convey how the Hotel’s location on the Harbour, its beautiful swimming pools and bar, and the building itself all flow together. And the views? Absolutely sublime. You will surely feel very comfortable and happy here. The rooms are excellent and well equipped. The bed is huge and very comfortable. The hotel is immaculately clean throughout and smells nice everywhere. The food was consistently excellent. Thanks to the chefs who prepared it and to Verancia, Italia and Pauliann you served it so graciously. The bar staff were a brilliant laugh. Thanks to Vito, Ronnie and the peerless Garvin who can sing and dance and he can occasionally sing and dance at the same time. The check-in and checkout were very efficient (thanks Yanika). St Lucia is a gorgeous and inspiring place and although this Hotel is a ‘Hilton’ the staff who work there reflect the vitality, energy and exoticness of the Island. I hope it stays that way, who wants corporate blandness when they are on holiday? A massive THANK YOU to all the staff for making such an effort making the hotel COVID secure. Lord knows how much effort went into this, but it meant that all the guest could have a fantastic time. …
I stayed in this hotel for New Years with my son and we both had a better than expected time. The hotel is set up very well with lovely views, great pools, pretty good food but I think the stand out for us and this stay was the staff. So hard working and polite and some great characters there with Lex and Suzanna to name a few. Nothing is to much and the manger was also around a lot chatting to the guests making sure everything was ok. This was stay was during these challenging times and every part of the hotel is fully compliant with the restrictions currently in place. Excursions are arranged for you and these were booked with ease and enough to chose from as well as help in dining out at certified restaurants. Highly recommend, thank you for your hospitality.
From start to finish, check in to check out this place is great. We were advised upon check in about temperature checks daily, restaurants in the hotel and off site that we could dine at. Our room was clean and large, we were told that housekeeping would come every other day to clean which was no issue for us. This island has a curfew at 11pm. ALL of the staff at this location are super accommodatin, they even organized a small dinner party for the birthday girl. We karaoke on Thursday night, they have tours available from this location as well. The pool area and outside bar are a vibe in itself!
I only gave it an excellent review because of the staff at the hotel. But lets start from the beginning. We got there and front desk went over rules and that things are limited due to COVID but that there are 10 approved restaraunts and if we needed anything they could not provide we give them the money and they’d get it. We had to get temp checks every morning before 11 because the nurse wouldnt be there (which was not true and this rule was not heavily enforced). We went to our rooms it was clean and you could tell not so long ago renovated. So we went to the pool and we saw one guy manning the bar and a lot of ppl surrounding. not gonna lie felt uncomfortable because they were not socially distancing but the guy at the bar who we came to know as Lex aka DJ Lex on the 1s and 2s and 3s and 4s always had his mask on! So it was realllly busy and we got a lil annoyed because they had Lex literally doing everything! So it was hard to get a order in. Lex was getting food, cleaning up, making drinks, DJin....I really dont know how he did it and maintained such an amazing attitude and spirit! Might I add we ended up meeting the bar manager (Dre) who was nice and got the chef to make us a local dish which we appreciated greatly! HOWEVER, he definitely needs to step his managing skills up and actually help his staff out when he sees that it is busy. But it seems like he is more interested in flirting with the women at the hotel than helping out his staff. His management skills literally irks me! So then Lex introduced us to Grrrrrvin (lol- Gavin) who was also amazing! We then met the Manager of the entire hotel (Mr. Scott) who didnt say he was at first (insert major eye roll) but we can tell he was someone of “importance” but after speaking with him and realizing hes pretentious and creepy he got the side eye from me remainder of the trip. All he did was walk around the hotel talking with guests, pointing out crap, telling people what to do like it was his castle. It just didnt scream leader who cares and will get dirty with his workers to show hes not afraid to work. Instead he rather brag about just waking upafter his staff pulled doubles trying to get the New Years eve party together and that he had a private massage therapist coming in and he was going back to bed (INSERT DOUBLE MAJOR EYE ROLL). I didnt see the man not once help out or anything. Then one may wonder why Dre doesnt. You lead by example. Our first night of sleep was ok until we woke up to the doors slamming at 7 room 201 is the worse room. i think all the rooms on that entire line is horrible because the room is right next to the exit and not everyone extends courtesy at 7am in a hotel. 201 is special because the gym is also on that floor as well as the spa. But the crackhead above us in 301 enjoyed dragging the chair back and forth 7am until 9am. So we explained that to the front desk-that wed like a room change, they said ok theyd discuss with the supervisor and get back to us no one got back to us and we mentioned it 3xs! I just have to say the worse of the staff is at the front desk. Mix information is given with a dash of attitude. It wasnt until day 5 when the female manager whos name I cannot remember because its quite unique (shes been there for 10 months) came around asking if everythings ok and of course my girlfriend and I are gonna be honest. It is only then our complaint was heard and swiftly dealt with. We were then told to be ready to move by 4 and we were- only to have to call the front desk at 5:38pm to get our new room info and of course met with attitude. So coming to the end front desk was reallllllllly trying it! When we arrived we were told our hotel room would be cleaned every 3 days. The night before our left based on this information the was supposed to be cleaned. Now we all know cleaning aint really cleaning its just fresh towels, make up the bed and sweep. But at this point we needed fresh towels. So we had massagss scheduled in the morning and then we planned to go to the pool. We got back to the room at 3pm no clean towels. I call and of course met with attitude and the response “its cleaned every 3 days” no sh*t sherlock holmes thats why im calling! We leave come back they made up the beds took two of the the 4 dirty towels and guess what? No clean towels. We had to call in the morning to request towels so we could shower before our flights. Our 3rd day we met Vito and I believe Joanna and they were absolutely amazing these ppl can work and are always pleasant! I specifically loved watching them dance behind the bar, joke on one another and most important look out for eachother as teammates should! It just amazed me how nice st. lucians are especially working during these times, short staffed, and long hours! new years night they had this event which might i add was poorly organized! And overly expensive and a waste of money but whatevs we really went for the staff, pure vibes! I also have to mention Priscilla who handles the pool towels she was also very pleasant and towels were always ready and available! The security guard I wish i got his name but he was also great even jumped in and helped Gavin one night to clean and close up the bar and helped us with someone we met that night that got super drunk and forgot her key and we wanted to make sure she got to her room safely. I think the only manager there who got my full respect is Ron! Talk about professional-and I respect it and his staff respects him too and his blazer for New Years was nice (id actually wear it)! I gotta mention my girl Marjorie that deep tissue was painfullllllll lol but my sinuses started feeling better my neck and back felt so much better. All she said was “breathe through the pain.” Lol. So we had to go back and get another massage! Thank you so much Marjorie when I make it ill def hire you as a personal massage therapist- aint nothing like Jamaican strength lol which was needed for the rocks in my back. To the servers in the restaraunt and the chefs who made the pizzas in the hot hut and they (pizza) still tasted good, you were all amazing and I wish I could name you one by one! As for the food, i mean its hotel food dumbed down ur not gonna get authentic st lucian food because the less less melanated guests just cant handle all that flavor (my personal opinion). Plus, its a pandemic so we couldnt mingle by walking around and supporting local businesses which we do everytime we travel-hence why we avoid staying at resorts but again no choice due to the pandemic. But St. Lucia has not seen the last of us for sure. Finally, will we stay here again no! But would i do it over under these conditions and choose this hotel, yes... and only because the staff literally made it feel welcoming and it was needed after having such a crappy year. The vibes were A1! My only advice to management is dont reward your top staff members by overworking them! If anything try and develop skills so that everyone can be at their best. This is a great time to do so since its going to be slow. I believe by taking advantage of doing so now will lead to greater rewards in the long run and everyone stands to gain from that right? If not, i forsee burnout, losing your top performers, a creation of animosity amongst staff, and staff and management. The front staff def needs some more work-but dont we all?…
