Last time we stayed at el Convento was 14 years ago and things have changed considerably for the best. There are multiple restaurants and great new interior spaces with views of the city. While the pool is very small the views from the fourth floor are great. If your budget will allow it I highly recommend staying here.

This is probably the best hotel in old San Juan. Great location. Nice clean rooms. The staff are usually helpful. Hotel food is okay, but we typically eat out anyway. Old San Juan offers some fun places to eat and relax, most of which are within easy walking distance of the hotel. The daily complimentary wine and cheese receptions are...

I really enjoyed our stay at El Convento and cannot wait to return. Granted we were there for on Honeymoon so we may have a different perspective - although I doubt it would be very different otherwise. They offer a complimentary happy hour from 6-7 every night with wine, cheese, crackers, and grapes. The place is clean and in a...

My wife and I chose the perfect place for our 48th anniversary and my 75th birthday--a retreat from the whirl of Washington in a convent, The Convent, actually: El Convento. And we found it a peaceful refuge, indeed, with gracious surroundings and comfortable rooms with beds that gave us lots of rest for the next day's hikes through old San...

Great location, friendly, helpful staff...felt like we were in a family-run luxury hotel. Our room was beautiful with a view overlooking Old Town San Juan. You can also visit their sister properties if you want to hang out at the beach for the day. This is THE spot for us whenever we visit San Juan again...but will stay 2-3 nights...

Having stayed in El Viejo San Juan a couple of times, I was intrigued to try this hotel this past summer. It was great. Our bedroom and sitting area were decorated with antiques and had comfortable, welcoming personality. Our bathroom was top notch modern, which we appreciated. The tapas restaurant on site has great food and great service. It's al...

We stayed at El Convento at the end of June. It is a lovely, small hotel with well appointed rooms and quaint decor. The bed was comfy, the room cool and quiet. The restaurants were all excellent, but the Tapas bar was very hot as there is no AC. The main dining restaurant is also not air conditioned, but at the...

Absolutely amazing gem of a hotel. The service was great, the location was central, it's unique, it's not too big, it's not too small, it's historic, in short- it's perfect. Oh and they will shuttle you up to the beach if you want to get out of "the city." I've stayed here twice and this my favorite hotel anywhere on...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Hotel El Convento. Located in the heart of Old San Juan amongst the colourful quaint streets and beautiful architecture. The hotel was once a convent as the name implies, with the 4 floors of rooms surround a large central courtyard where the bar and restaurant are located on the ground floor. There is a...

This is a lovely hotel situated in Old San Juan. Our room on the second floor was lovely though a little dark. Enjoyed the small pool on roof. We did visit the othe hotel La Concha but it was a big modern hotel - nothing to compare to El Convento. Breakfast was great every morning and so was dinner in...
