The check-in experience was the worst I have ever had. The reception at the time of check-in leaves much to be desired and was a big reason why we opted to check out almost immediately. Basic customer service pieces were missing, she could hardly manage to find our reservation let alone to attend to any request above the very basic stuff. No one to help with the bags, we had 3 children with us, and with the facilities being one with many stairs and pathways that was a trip in itself. The pool water looked questionable and with children, it was probably not going to be a fun trip so we chose to check out after the first night of what was supposed to have been a 3-night stay. On attempting to get a refund for the trip, the receptionist was less than supportive to attempt to get approval for us to check out and have a refund done, reporting that there was no one on property for her to speak with and that there was no way of contacting the manager at that time. After insisting she finally agreed to attempt to contact someone. We waited and got the confirmation to check out and that a refund would be issued. Again hard-pressed to figure out how to process a refund for the payment we had made just an hour ago on her credit card terminal and since it was already so very late we decided to spend the night and leave in the morning. After several calls and emails etc. three weeks later we are still waiting for the refund to be processed and the funds returned to us.…
We love this property because of many reason but mainly because of the service they offer. They have the best staff ever. They never say "NO" when you request something and they always try to give the extra mile and smile. Simply the best. Martin, front desk clerk, the waiter at the restaurant and even the security and gardeners. Their rooms are nice and very clean. They have a nice terrace over the lagoon to enjoy beautiful sunsets.
The surrounding area of the property is quite beautiful and there is absolutely no noise pollution. There's not much to do on the property however the Blue Lagoon is only a few minutes away where persons will be able to enjoy rafting and visiting Monkey Island. The hotel serves a full Jamaican breakfast which is very filling and palatable, however I did not enjoy the lunch and dinner options which were served. The menu was limited and the food wasn't very flavourful in regards to the lunch and dinner. I did however enjoy my stay in the room which was quite spacious and quietly tucked away on the property.
Stayed for a single night as a couple on an organised tour of Jamaica. We had a large room on the upper floor of Akhee House (AH8) - one of a number of separate buildings each containing a number of rooms. Well appointed but no safe, fridge or tea/coffee making facilities. Outlook was onto lush vegetation. Bar and restaurant and a small pool are located at the foot of the complex with a large deck overlooking a beautiful cove. Dining service was slow despite our group ordering some time in advance; food reasonable rather than excellent. Breakfast modest but satisfactory. Overall, the setting of the public areas and the isolation of the room outlook was what made this such a memorable place.
Friendly and helpful staff. Clean, good food. Room a little small and poorly ventilated, but this may have been the room we were in as there seems to be a wide variety from which to choose. Pretty, lush, green, tropical - landscaping in keeping with Port Antonio
