We stayed here in the past and the resort was good but our last 2 says have been very unsatisfying. The quality of the food has gone down and the upkeep of the resort is not good. This is a beautiful resort but going down hilll quickly.

Been to The Royalton before, also been to C/O resorts in the past. Recently stayed at Grand Lido to get a feel for the place now that Superclubs has washed their hands of tourism. We've been to Negril many times - saw the old Grand Lido bulldozed and watched as the new resort was built. Time for a bit of constructive feedback: 1. No pool floats anywhere, not even to float out in the ocean. Even the Motel 6 party outfit across the street from you has those… 2. The quality of the food has taken a serious decline. The last time we were there, the food was amazing, and it didn’t matter where you dined. This time, not so much. We pretty much stayed with the buffet as it seemed to be the best choice of them all. Figure this is likely due to COVID, but still the food quality has seriously declined from the last time we were there. 3. No ice maker to be found, except on the 3rd floor (and the door to get to the ice maker was locked). We had to rely upon the butler for simple things like ice...and wait... 4. The refrigerator in the room is one of those sub-standard cryogenic units with no freezer. For those of us who must travel with refrigerated medications, this is totally unacceptable. We had to request a proper refrigerator so I could freeze my travel medication carrier. They brought one to the room and it was brand new. Plugged it in and froze our medication for the trip home. The next morning, the day of departure, I check on our medications. The refrigerator had mysteriously stopped working in the middle of the night and my medications were not frozen. Looking on the back of the fridge, it said “Made in China”. That’s all I needed to see. There goes over $400 worth of compounded medication into the trash can – it’s all ruined! Thank goodness for trip insurance... All these outfits need to do is put a proper refrigerator (one that has a freezer) in the rooms and this wouldn’t have been such an issue. 5. The deck at Grand Lido is beautiful. However, it’s dark brown and gets searing hot on the feet. Consider a lighter color that doesn’t absorb so much heat! 6. Getting from our swim out suite to the pools is a bit daunting. Have to go through the front door of the room, down the hall, down some dark brown steps that burn the feet (not once, but twice) then finally to the pool. There isn’t an easy way to get into the pool from the deck. Some steps from the deck would be a nice addition. 7. Getting into the ocean from the Grand Lido side is cumbersome. Have to climb down a galvanized ladder. Even so, going snorkeling in the nude was nice. This side of the resort is in dire need of a good beach entry. 8. The food at the Reggae Bar and Grill was excellent – best lunch on the resort. Even so, getting the likes of a grilled cheese sandwich or a burger with fries isn’t going to happen there. We’ve often had grilled cheese with jerk chicken inside for lunch at other resorts. Thoroughly enjoyed lamb chops, jerk chicken and all the fixings for lunch every day though. 9. There must be a shortage of patties. Of the 10 days we were there, only one day did they have patties. Love, love, LOVE patties. Stock up guys – this is Jamaica! 10. Not sure why, but almost every day there were tables and chairs in the shaded walkway in front of the buffet. More-or-less forcing us to walk around it all. Never saw anyone seated at those tables either, and the resort was no where near capacity. Strange… 11. Return trip covid testing was a bit strange too. We go to guest services to sign up for our return trip testing. They handed us a QR Code to scan with our phone. What? I guess I’m one of the few that disconnects from all things electronic while on vacation. I left my phone at home – don’t need it, I’m on vacation! The QR Code redirects you to a web site URL to fill out. Filled out the form and was told we’d hear back in 24 hours with an appointment time. Nothing heard for days afterward. We go back and inquire. Suddenly, we receive a response. There really needs to be a kiosk of some type for signing up for covid testing, and one that has a printer so your guests can get printed copies for their trip home. 12. Getting printed copies of our covid test results is equally daunting. Visit Guest Services to get a printed copy. They told us “Just show the results on your phone at the airport.” My phone is back at home – not here! Hello? I’m on vacation, and that includes a vacation from all things electronic. There is a lot of room for improvement here (a kiosk would be nice). 13. Room service was OK, but was extremely slow. We’d place an order on the TV then the phone would ring to confirm the order. Another phone call to say it’s on its way. Wouldn’t it be easier to just have a printed menu and let your guests call room service instead? 14. One day, believe it was the day before our departure and during our typical afternoon nap time after a morning of water sports activities, the TV suddenly turns itself on with significant volume and wakes us up from a really good nap. It was a message from the resort - "We'll miss you". Good timing on this one folks… 15. Having to walk half way across the resort to get as much as a cup of coffee in the morning is a pain, especially since supplies for the in-room coffee maker was spotty at best. It sure would be nice if there were morning coffee service at Grand Lido. Guess we could have ordered room service, but both times we ordered room service it took well over an 1.5 hours to arrive. 16. Bar service was spotty across the entire resort. A property stocked bar would have things like lemon, lime, orange and pineapple juices…along with common mixes such as triple sec, Cointreau, Grand Mariner, etc. There must be a shortage on lemon juice and triple sec as none of the bars had these basic bar items in stock. It was difficult to find other bar necessities such as tonic water too. Also asked about Ting (the grapefruit soda of Jamaica). None of the bars had that either. Paying extra for the likes of Patron or other decent liquors isn’t going to happen. We’re supposed to be at a 5-star resort. Top shelf liquors are synonymous with 5-star resorts. I get having to pay extra for a bottle of Dom Perignon orhigh-priced wines, but not for basic top-shelf liquors such as Patron, etc. 17. Most drinks we ordered were either too weak, WAY too sweet or so strong you couldn't drink it. Some orders of common cocktails often stumped the bartenders. It’s more than evident that you need to train your bartenders. A good bartender will take a straw sample of a drink before they serve it to make sure it tastes right. Didn’t see that happen as much as once. There were times when Royalton or Royalton Hideaway guests would frequent Grand Lido. Doesn't appear to be a gatekeeper anywhere in sight. Only once or twice in 10 days did we see anyone at the front desk at Grand Lido. None of your C/O guests wants a gawker showing up, and this definitely happened more than once this trip. In all, this was a very relaxing vacation - hard-earned one too, as it has been over 18 months since we've stepped foot outside of our home due to covid. It could have been better, but was still an enjoyable trip. Will we return? Maybe...maybe not.

Just returned form 12 days there. The employees are fantastic and we have made several friends there. This was our second visit. However the resort may not be as advertised. The management is still lacking but trying to get a handle on things. First of all it is not Au Naturel but should be considered clothing optional. This is not enforced at all on the resort. There were 2 ladies accidentally booked into GL and did not want to be there but management told them it was not mandatory and did not move them. Also on the weekend the resort atmosphere changes to more of a spring break atmosphere. There were several rooms across the Hideaway and Royalton areas that had their own sound systems on the patio which I did not find desirable. Even at the bar at GL someone set their speaker up at the bar and the resort music was playing as well so don't count on hearing Jamaican music all of the time. The hot tub at GL has to be started (button pushed) every couple of minutes. When the staff walks through in the evening, if no one is in the hot tub/pool they will turn it off completely. Room services is spotty but the butlers are Fantastic. Ricardo has become a good friend. However, the butlers relay requests and it goes through a couple of hops before the actual request is handled. One morning we received a call at 6:15 am to ask if we wanted our coffee at 7:30 which was scheduled for every day. In summary, We love the resort and the people and consider it a 5 star location but with 2 star management and service. We would love to go back some time but prefer other resorts at this point.

Our new home address at Grand Lido Negril Au Naturel All-Suite-Resort is 9016 and our first time stay in the Sunset Swim Out Suite was nothing less than sublime. If you seek a boutique, private and inclusive experience accompanied by your own private butler service, Grand Lido Negril will not disappoint. It was the small details that made our stay special. COVID-19 - The registration and testing process was seamless. Registration is completed via an iPad in the main lobby and the testing process is performed in the nurses station. Our test results were available within 24-hours. The test is provided at no cost for stays longer than 3-nights. Room Key Don’t worry about losing or locking your room key inside of your room. Your room key is a trendy wristband and as an extra benefit for being a Royalton Diamond Club (DC) guest, allows you to move freely throughout the resort, this includes bars, restaurants and other dedicated beach areas. We often forgot our room key was on our wrist and regardless of how much water they were exposed to, at no time did our keys stop working. Go Grand Lido! Sunset Swim Out Suite We found the corner suite, located closest to the door that provides ramp access to the exclusive Grand Lido pools and bar and grill very convenient. The private patio and swim out pool, the in-suite Jacuzzi soaker tub, coupled with dual rainfall shower heads, made up the perfect recipe for quality time. Butler Service Damari and Ricardo were outstanding. The two of them made sure that our in-suite minibar stayed supplied with refreshments and If there was anything else that we needed, a simple text got things moving. At one point, we were enjoying a beverage at one of the Hideaway beach bars when one of our butlers pulled Mr. Travel aside to speak privately. To my surprise, when we returned to the room the lighting was dimmed and there were rose petals scattered everywhere. Our in-suite jacuzzi water was romantically prepared and our curtains beautifully decorated. Our butler went above and beyond to personalize our experience. This kind of service is unrivaled. Sustainability Together we promote a sustainable lifestyle and take note to environmentally friendly practices and sustainable initiatives being embraced by resorts. In 2018, all Royalton Luxury Resorts phased out single-use plastic straws and significantly reduced plastic bottle waste with the roll out of a new eco-friendly water filtration system across bar and restraint facilities. Thank you Ms. Lorna Clarke for gracing us with your presence and formally introducing yourself while we enjoyed cocktails poolside. The hospitality of the entire Grand Lido staff, bartenders and cooks was above marginal. We will be returning home in September and we look forward to Grand Lido expanding on the Grand Lido Au Naturel experience. - MrandMrsTravel An Ordinary Couple With Extraordinary Dreams
