I have to give Kaz Kreol a 2 dot rating in spite of the management because the scenery from the hotel is sooooo good. Without the scenery a single dot would be pushing it. This place really needs new owners who love Jamaica, who want to show our visitors how hospitable we are and who care about service and reputation. Without new ownership the future for this place is grim. Like another reviewer, despite being booked into a "suite" we found no towels in our room and the bed sheets were obviously used by the previous occupants. We found hair and "body fluid" marks on crumpled sheets, one of which was torn. We complained and were told that towels would be sent up immediately and bed sheets would be delivered in a few hours as none were available and what they had were being washed. Two hours later we still had no towels (as they were still in a dryer) and no sheets so we took off our sheets and pillow cases to take to the reception desk to emphasize that we were not about to sleep on them. To our shock and horror, when we removed one of the pillow cases the pillow was grey with mildew so we took the pillows down as well. By this time the local curfew (because of GOVID-19) had begun and we couldn't leave the place even if we wanted to. The night attendant did as much as he could with the archaic laundering equipment, but although we got 2 sheets and towels at around midnight, we had to sleep without pillows that night. As a Jamaican it gives me no pleasure in writing this review, but what really irked me was that the following morning when we tried to speak to someone in management we couldn't and an email to them has remained unanswered. All we wanted was a part of our money back, or a coupon or at least an apology. but nothing.... Nada! There were other issues with the care of the beach front and the state of the beach chairs but that would be too much. All I can hope is that the current management / owners will eventually sell the place and new and caring people will turn this small hotel into an oasis of natural beauty and peace which it could easily be.…
My partner and I wanted a little get away from our usual routine for a few days so we made a booking in January 2021... First, he went there to get an idea of the place, cost, etc and we were directed to the website to see how the place looked even though he was physically there and you know what? We did and we were impressed so we decided to reserve our room for one night first and then when we were actually coming, we would pay the additional amount. And all was well until we actually got there, we were advised about an additional amount for security deposit which was fine but the receptionist didn't have a reason as to why we weren't told from the beginning, and getting a receipt was A WHOLE OTHER ISSUE... We checked in fairly quickly but we weren't shown to our rooms nor did anyone take our bags. When we finally got inside the room, it was two twin beds pushed together which made the middle part uncomfortable as hell! WE HAD NO TOWELS NOR WASH RAGS IN THE ROOM EITHER! It was obvious the moment we walked in that the room was just mopped because the floor was wet and you could clearly see the traces of the mop SMH. We went downstairs to request the towels and we were advised by house keeping that all the towels were dirty and are currently being washed but she would try to make two available to us later in the night; THAT WAS ALREADY AFTER EIGHT IN THE NIGHT AND WE CHECKED IN AT FOUR… Anyway, we always pack with our necessities so we managed. THE AC IN THE ROOM WAS SO OUTDATED AND SO DAMN LOUD THAT SLEEPING WAS IMPOSSIBLE AND CREATED THIS MOLDY SMELL! We survived for the night but as soon as morning came my partner went down to speak with front desk and he was basically advised that there’s nothing they can do about the noise… I wasn’t going to let it go so I went down for myself and played the recording of the noise it was making and also advised that I will not be sleeping in there… She then went to speak to her boss who advised that she would make a room change which we accepted. The new room was much better and much cleaner… It had a queen size bed which was comfortable enough and WE EVEN HAD TOWELS! (Which we decided not to use) and we were a little more comfortable with everything until we realised that the AC couldn’t turn off and we had to manually go turn a switch on the balcony outside (RIDICULOUS I KNOW) and the cable went out from about after three in the day and even the next day it still wasn’t back so we decided it was time to GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE! The breakfast was good enough but they had all these cats in the dining area which is fine if you’re an animal person I suppose but it was really weird… Another couple was sitting near to us eating and as soon as they were finished and got up the cats jumped up on the table and started eating whatever they left SMH. It’s probably fine for a one-night stand or a one night with your partner but for an extended stay I wouldn’t definitely not recommend… Some pics are attached. Please be aware that even if you book this hotel with free cancellation, the hotel will not refund the money they charge at time of booking ($200 for us), even if the cancellation is done well within the free-cancel time period. We cancelled our booking one month in advance (well before the risk-free cancellation period), and several weeks later the hotel has still not refunded the deposit that should have been per the terms at the time of booking. Given several other reviews here complaining about similar issues, this property is highly not recommended.
If you have a tight budget and want a good place to stay, good food and awesome scenery, Kaz Kreol is the place to be. It is situated close to the White River and the beach, you can see where the river enters the sea. Rafting on the river is a major attraction, a must-do if you stay there. Dinner is a bit pricey, so be prepared for that. It is not easy to find, GPS misleads you and signs are absent. The sound of waves crashing noisily against the seashore might be a little too much for some persons, but it adds to the adventure. The hotel needs to be modernized, but it is clean and staff are friendly.
VOMIT IN OUR ACCOMMODATION beside dining table we could not stay after that AND KAZ KREOL REFUSE REFUND. On the approach to the hotel the locals badger and harass you to buy boat rides and goods; very aggressively. We choose one of the two ground rooms offered as the other one was directly behind the bar with 2 massive loud speakers that play continuously. The hallway has an exit door which is permanently open onto land that belongs to someone else, not secure. The room door locks are not secure and flimsy. There was vomit in our eating area. The room had an old, stale smell. Cracked tile in bathroom, easily cut your foot on, with ants coming out of it. The images advertised are enhanced on this website, the hotel looks nothing like what is advertised. We was in the room for 10 mins when we saw vomit and decided to leave as that’s disgusting and Covid-19 risk. The hotel have refused to refund $847. No customer service at all. The manager Taniesha Hinds was rude, argumentative and has no customer care skills. She’s not responded to any emails. And refuse a refund. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. TERRIBLE PLACE, it’s not a hotel.…
