The service food and accommodations are great . The staff is friendly and the GM gives you personal attention . They also have a great friend named shadow . A friendly Dog that is always coming to see you on the beach . We enjoyed our short stay and will be back again soon . A romantic place with many private cottages and rooms on the beach .
The property is beautiful. You can choose a cottage or a room with a veranda. We were fortunate to be placed in the Beach Wing in a room on first floor. Step from your Veranda onto the sandy beach (which is exquisite). Captain Tony will pick you on on the beach to visit Dunn's River Falls by boat or go fishing. There are paddle boards and kayaks which we used to paddle to the reef and snorkel. They make an outstanding Rum Punch and we had some fantastic meals too. After seeing the surrounding area and other resorts we would definitely book at Jamaica Inn again. And...great live music every night. And the Ocean Spa has a couples massage room overlooking water that is to die for. So much to mention...
My husband and I first went to Jamaica Inn 5 years ago, and have been waiting ever since - and it did not disappoint! Jamaica Inn is just special - the moment you arrive (and honestly, the moment you get in the nice van we arranged with them to pick us up at MBJ airport) you just feel at ease and at home. In fact that's how they greet you - 'welcome home'. What we noticed first is that the place really has not changed in the 5 years since we were last there - and that is exactly how they (and we) want it. Obviously, the place has been maintained very well - you can tell they take great care with the gardens and upkeep on the rooms. But the atmosphere, the vibe, is just so classic and relaxed. One addition they did make since we were last there was adding Thursday 007 movie night on the beach and I am so glad they did! After dinner, they set up a movie screen and comfortable lounge chairs on the beach, play a classic Bond film, and even bring popcorn down. I could go on about the pristine beach - soft sand, no rocks in the water, warm clear blue water - the fantastic food for every meal, the service and staff (which truly defines this place). But based on all the other 5 star reviews before me I wouldn't be the first to say these! What I do want to comment on for those who are considering traveling during these strange times is their Covid-19 protocols, as we did travel in November 2020. I felt very safe and comfortable with Jamaica Inn (and Jamaica's protocols in general) and if you are considering traveling here during this time, believe you can rest assured with Jamaica Inn. The staff all wore masks the entire time, and all the guests were respectful with wearing their masks when walking the property between dining or going to the beach/pool. They've adjusted some of the policies for safety and distancing, but honestly Jamaica Inn is naturally a very socially distant place - it is all open air so the only time you are really 'indoors' is your room (And even that has ventilation with your verandah doors) - and the dining and beach chairs were already placed separate. Hand sanitizer is all throughout the property, and you see staff using it on menus, tables, beach chairs, etc. Thank you Jamaica Inn for a wonderful trip and such service during a strange travel time, and we cannot wait to be back!…
After a crazy, anxious year in the NYC area, my wife and i knew we had to get away I finished a big work project. Our ideal place was the Jamaica Inn, where we enjoyed an incredible stay last year. I was impressed with how straightforward and organized Jamaica's COVID protocols are -- you need a negative COVID test within 10 days of departure and you have to fill out a travel authorization form online. Our plane to Montego Bay was virtually empty, and our car service whisked us away to the resort. Once we got there, it was the same, lovely experience that we had last time at this timeless gem of a resort. It's beautiful, low key, gracious atmosphere instantly relaxed us body and soul. With few other guests, and the staff diligently following COVID protocols, we felt totally safe -- especially since we were outside most of the time. We spent five nights and the time absolutely flew, it was just last week and it all feels like a wonderful dream. We've already started planning about when we can go back to this incredibly special place that is now close to our hearts.…
Sigh. I am speechless. Where do I begin?? Warning. Long but very detailed review Covid-19 protocols: Followed to the T. Masks worn PROPERLY by staff and guests 99% of the time, sanitizing dispensers are all over the property including in your rooms. I felt safer there than at my own home. Masks however can be taken off at the pool area and beach by guests but the chairs are several metres away from each other and the fact that it is outside reduces the chances of transmission greatly. Otherwise masks are ALWAYS worn every single other place by guests and staff alike. They also do a temp check when you check in. They do have you sign a waiver however noting that you understand the risks and absolving them of any liability. However they take a million steps to ensure that you don't get Covid. My recommendation here is that they should ask guests about any flu like symptoms and possible Covid contacts prior to booking. Okay so you enter the hotel and at first my family was puzzled because the hotel did not really have an upscale vibe initially. It looked like more like a glamping situation. Room: Deluxe Verandah Suite This glamping feeling pervaded to the rooms which were the Deluxe Verandah Suite. The room is very spacious with a large verandha that overlooks the beach (you can have the waves rock you to sleep from your bed). However the style is more vintage with some intentionally distressed furniture. It reminds you of the 50s which can be good or bad depending on your tastes. The room however is 4.5/5 for convenience. Plenty of outlets are there, including by your bedside, there is natural lemongrass mosquito repellent and skin soother for bites by your bedside (it works extremely well for repelling mosquitoes and soothing any bites you got prior to application). A vape machine (which repels mosquitoes) is also plugged in at the nightstand. There is a mat by your bed, and the bed is extremely comfortable with ample bedding. There is also a spacious closet with plenty of hangers, and TONS of drawers. The closet also includes a safe, ample shelves and a small coffeee stand with a french press, cups, kettles and teabags with sugar and stirring spoons. There is also a stand for luggage. The bathroom showed a few signs of age, especially around the marble sink, as well as the bathtub, however the sink was spacious with plenty of room to rest your things. The facebasin was a lovely size and there was a big mirror and a smaller mirror provided. There is also a mirrored cabinet over the toilet with cubbies and shelving space. Very convenient. The bathtub is spacious with a cubicle to place products as well as a towel rack behind for easy access to towels. There is also additonal storage space on the bath itself. It is very spacious and I took 3 enjoyable soaks in there. There are plenty of towels provided. 2 large towels above the bathtub, 2 large towels in front of the toilet (at a good distance) and a basket provided with 3 to 4 smaller towels. A mat is also provided for the front of the bath. The toilet is well finished and high for easy sitting. On the tank there are 3 small boxes providing face tissue in one, 2 rolls of toilet paper in the other (plus the toilet paper on the rack) and a small box with cotton buds and qtips. The products are AMAZING, combining aromatherapy with skin health. The bathroom as you can tell is very well appointed. The one gripe is that the large door opens INWARDS severly limiting the space available in the bathrom and also interfering with the mat in front of the bath. Otherwise it would have been near perfect. There are no TVs or radios but the WiFi is EXCELLENT all over the property including the rooms. There is also an excellent AC in each of the rooms. The verandah is extremely spacious ( the size of a second large hotel room) and there are doors that fully open to connect you with them. You can leave them open if you want to experience a sort of indoor- outdoor living but that may not be everyone's preference. You will see why later. The doors are wooden and have louvres that are unfortunately tricky to close. The doors also require a lot of effort to open and close. Evidently they want you to have these doors and windows open for as long as possible, however an influx of mosquitoes may happen if left open indefinitely. Also there is the matter of privacy. On the deluxe and premier verandah suites the verandahs are right along walkways where guests and staff will walk by. Albeit walkbys are FEW because this is a hotel with only 55 suites, but if you greatly value your privacy it can be a bit awkward. However the payoff is the AMAZING view of the ocean and the property. Great place to get work done or have a chat. On the verandah there is a comfortable large white sofa, 2 large soft chairs, a writing desk and a table for 2. It is created for a community vibe where many people can be invited to sit and talk (pre Covid). Each room has a verandah. There is also a mini fridge and placed on top is an ice pitcher (filled) and water pitcher (filled) and 2 glasses. My concern with that however is that not everyone may be okay with things they drink from being outside where anyone can access it when they are not looking. Plus animals (Shadow the dog, and a cat) do venture on the verandah from time to time, s well as the bugs there. It may be served better inside on the large vanity. (Oh and there is also a full length mirror inside the room). The verandah has steps that lead off it and take you directly to the pool area and beach. You really feel a part of the property. My recommendation is that they replace the louvred doors with large windowed doors similar to what is in the cottages. The glass on these doors should be one way viewing that allows whoever is inside to see out but whoever is outside is unable to see in. Curtains should also be added to run the entire length of the doors. It would really open up the indoor space and give the rooms a more upscale vibe, as well as great privacy and more convenience I would plant some lemongrass outside the rooms and place a lemongrass plant on the verandah to repel mosquitoes and bees in additional to the measures stated above. Grounds Immaculately kept Beautiful plants and flowers all around. Special thank you to Mr. A. Taylor who took us on a excellent garden tour and even gave my mom plants to take back to Kingston and plant at home (she is an avid plant lover). The pool is small but stunning. The real star is the BEACH. It is HUGE with tons of space and TONS of chairs spaced far apart and a small beachbar where they will serve you a complimentary drink before 12. There is also a watersports section so you can go snorkelling and kayaking. The sea is almost given a 360 view all over the property with EVERYTHING thought of and designed to take advantage of what is truly an AMAZING view. Whether you are dining, swimming, chilling, working the sea is always there soothing you visually and aurally. It is also a great place for snorkelling, and we had a good time feeding the fish by the dining area. They actually participate in an environmental initiative to regenerate our coral reefs and sea-life which is very important to me. Dining Food was pretty good with a large menu. Service was excellent There is entertainment by musicians nightly which creates a very warm atmosphere Tables are 6m apart, menus sanitized and hand sanitizer offered before your meal. (You can bring your own as well). Food is pricey but I completely understand why. You can pay as you go or get a meal plan. I suggest if you are not a huge eater or enjoy a lot of alcoholic drinks it is cheaper to pay as you go. You make reservations and there is a dress code for nighttime dining. Dining is all outdoor which is crucial due to Covid in preventing spread. I also recommend to reduce your risk you spend as little time dining, or take advantage of room service and have meals on your verandah (though you pay and extra fee for same). The waiters will not clear your table as frequently so as to reduce covid risk and utensils are wrapped up in a napkin. Your food still comes in a very timely manner. However when asked for a straw the straws were not wrapped. I would recommend individually wrapped straws. Chef Maurice you did extremely well as well as your entire kitchen and wait staff. Spa The spa is called ocean spa and has a STUNNING location with understated glamping decor. Reservations are made and treatments done. Yolanda gave me a deep tissue massage which was amazing (the best I have experienced out of 100s of massages) and Pauline gave me a beautiful pedicure. The process is very relaxing and the staff and products they use are exceptional. No facials, scalp massages or face is done due to Covid. Everything else is available. Treatments are also a little pricey but honestly much better than the rates I see at other resorts. There is also a stunning saltwater plunge pool but it isnt functional currently due to damage from Hurricane Eta 2 weeks ago. The spa is directly overlooking the ocean. Yoga classes are also done there as well right by the sea. There is a 30% discount for locals and I got a $50 certificate given to me by them for sharing them on my page (available to everyone). I will point out that the inside of the spa toilet is badly stained so hopefully that can be rectified as I know that this hotel prides itself on excellence at all times (the staff is vey open. I meant to address it but forgot.) Staff Extremely pleasant from the owners to management, to the garden team, dining team, beverage team, spa team, housekeeping team etc etc. Polite and open without being intrusive. I had a great coversation with Mr. Taylor the head gardener, Tina one of the managers and Sheree (apologies if I spelt your name wrong) the spa manager. A manager is there at all times. Tanya at reservations was wonderful as well as Nordia and her team at the front desk. Always kind and willing to help. Every member of staff has been there for over 7 years which I love because that means the staff is treated well. This is extremely important. Atmosphere Chilled back and relaxed. This is a place to unwind, connect with family, make new friends and connect with yourself. THIS IS NOT A PARTY HOTEL. Which to me is a great thing. All in all a wonderful experience. We plan to return before the end of the year circumstances permitting, which is not something my family has done in over 10 years since FDR. Jamaica Inn is not an all-inclusive hotel which is a great strength because it excels in the niche it exists in. Recommendations If you value extreme privacy a cottage is a good option as well as the overwater suites. There are MANY MANY MANY types of rooms to choose from to suit your needs and pocket. The resort appears small at first but as we say in Jamaica 'silent river run deep' which means there is MUCH more to it than what is immediately evident. Thank you Jamaica Inn. We will hold these memories dear to our hearts and plan to make many more with you. Read less…
