We enjoyed our stay immensely at Toby’s Resort. The property is very central, very close to the airport and a 7 minute walk to the hip strip and Doctors Cave Beach. The management and staff were all pleasant, helpful and attentive. The food was excellent homestyle cooking both Jamaican and Western fare and quite reasonably priced. The property is well maintained and rooms well cleaned daily.
Close to the airport and the Doctor’s Cave beach, but not a very welcoming place. When we arrived just from the airport, we had some urgent things to arrange and were dependent on the wifi. When it didn’t work the lady at the reception gave me a look as it was my fault and told me to restart my phone even though the other tourist at the reception also told them the wifi didn’t work. When our room was shown, the person explained the airco and all and we settled in. It appeared the airco could not be set lower than 25 degrees Celsius, so it was just broke. We had to go to back to the reception and asked them to fix it. After a a while both the airco and wifi were fixed, so we could arrange our stuff and settle in. The water of the two swimming pools is pretty warm, but when stepping out and being wet with some wind in the shadows, we cooled down. The food is good, and we could try our first Jamaican dishes here. Even though you could easily walk to the supposed to be famous Doctor’s Cave beach (it’s even printed on their money), I would not recommend to go by foot as we did. Many people approach you to sell you stuff or want other things. At night there was a short loud beep in the room every minute or so. Next morning it appeared to be the smoke detector running out of batteries. That didn't do the sleeping much good. Next time, I would probably go to the resorts outside Montego Bay, that have a beach of their own. But of course the prices are probably far higher there.…
Booked a one night stay at Toby's, i've always seen this hotel pop up on my search of Montego bay so i decided to see what it was like. At Check in the first receptionist i met wasn't too friendly and told me my room wouldn't be ready until 3pm due to a lot of late check outs. I understand most hotels have the 3pm check in policy however it was the way she communicated it that was borderline rude. I then went to the restaurant onsite to have some lunch while i waited. I had the red peas soup, the waitress told me it was finished then came to me a few minutes later to say they had some more. When it came it was watered down as if they just added hot water to the soup to extend it. tasted like hot water and peas, i didn't drink it and thankfully they didn't charge me for it. I then ordered the Oxtail, it wasn't the greatest Oxtail i've had and i didn't end up finishing it, to my surprise after receiving the bill, they are charging $25 USD for an oder of Oxtail which in my opinion is well over priced. After eating at around 3pm i went back to the front desk to check in, thankfully there was a different receptionist (an older more mature lady) who was much nicer than the first lady. she was much friendlier and checked me in with no issues. The room was ok, and what you would expect at this price point, they had not fridge or iron in the room, but it has AC and a TV. There were no towels in the room but a quick call to front desk and they delivered towels to the room. I was in room 39, there was hot water in the tap however you had to run the pipe for about 20 mins before the hot water would come. Also the bath tub would clog up and i would be standing in a puddle of water every time i took a shower. The security guy at the front was very friendly and helped me with my bags to the room. There are 2 pools on the property, one seemed a lot older than the other, however both pools did not live up to the pictures on the site, seems as if those pictures were taken a very long time ago and the pools are not maintained as well as they should be.…
The only thing good about this hotel is the location near the airport and hip strip. As for the room, the pillows on the queen bed were very small about the size of couch cushions. The WiFi was spotty and unreliable. I was provided with two thin bath towels and the room had no bar soap in the shower so I had to buy my own from a local store. For 70 USD a night you would think they would provide complimentary breakfast daily and they have this crazy no guest rule and a charge for guests during visiting hours. This mattered because I was with a wedding party so friends or relatives couldn't change in my room without paying a fee ( if this was an all-inclusive I could maybe understand but absolutely ridiculous ) Also, the room has no safe for documents or passports. Which is a must for any hotel. Jamaican independence celebrations were just days away and this place didn't seem ready for an influx of guests. I'll never stay here again as they were doing just the bare minimum…
When we arrived they lockers for luggage til 3pm check in! Our room had so many ants but maintenance was on it!! Nice pools Wide selection at bar Local food and kids menu $6! Walking distance to Docto Cave Beach, Spice World, Craft market and little further walk to Pork Pit Not my favorite hotel but it was ok!
Tony’s is a quiet laid back resort that is walking distance to Doctors cove beach, which is breathtaking. The resort is clean and the staff goes out of their way to help. The restaurant has really good, authentic Jamaican food at a reasonable price.
A mere 5 minutes' drive from the airport, this is a good first or last hotel. Rooms are big, comfortabele and the showers are heavenly. And the sounds from the busy nearby road are hardly noticeable. Staff is very friendly and all meals are delicious. All in all, a good place to stay.
The hotel has a laid back vibe, and classic Jamaican feel. The rooms and property are clean and affordable. The pool is also a relief from the heat and the convenient dining at Good Eats makes this location perfect.
Hotel is horrible, super old, uncomfortable bed, not that clean, noisy, but the staff is very friendly and helpful. No food options past 8pm. Location is good, very close to the airport. Free parking is helpful.
We needed a hotel close to the airport for our last night in Jamaica. Toby’s is always my go to for this situation. It’s cute, clean, and conveniently located within minutes of the airport. The staff are pleasant and helpful. We were initially given a room with a rather small double bed but we expressed that this was not acceptable for us. They upgraded us to a deluxe room at no extra cost. The down side to this was that the wifi would fluctuate in the room. We ate a few meals at the restaurant and the food was delicious. They have a traditional Jamaica menu and some North American items. The pools are nice but not as clean as we would like. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will definitely continue to use Toby’s when we need to be centrally located.
