Detailed Reviews
A very pleasant hotel with very attentive staff. The food and beverage, while very good, were expensive and alternatives were something of a drive away. Breakfast was the usual buffet but was very plentiful with the pastries being regularly topped up with freshly warmed items.Dinner was always tasty and well presented although, as mentioned, expensive. The room was well equipped in most aspects although the air-conditioning was unable to bring the temperature down as much as we might have liked. The pool was a good size and we always managed to find a couple of sun-loungers. The location was not the best. The nearest beach was over half a kilometer away and was only fit for surfing. Another half-kilometer plus walk through a wood led to a better beach which, while good, did not compare with the best beaches elsewhere. The hotel is also well away from the towns and we did not feel inclined to go out in the evenings.

This is probably the nicest hotel on the island. Great location in Grande Terre with easy access to beaches and in between 2 small towns (St. Anne and St. Francois) with plenty of restaurats. Rooms are all in small buildings set around an old sugar mill, all an easy walk to a beautiful swimming pool, excellent but expensive restaurant (the included breakfast is excellent). We had a very relaxing stay in a Junior Suite. I would give this 5 stars except for some notable drawbacks: The hotel has no direct beach access (you can walk to a rocky surfing beach about 10 minutes away and from there you ca take another 10-15 minute path to the calm Plage de Bois de Jolan), we found that both the restaurant and bar often ran out of many items on the menu including featured specials. The Junior suites are nice because they have separate sitting areas but the bedroom is up a spiral staircase while the bathroom is on the lower level. Many would find that whole set-up inconvenient. Finally, the hotel's WiFi is extremely weak and it is quite difficult to remain connected. 5 stars are definitely in order however for the staff, who were amazingly friendly, helpful and went the extra mile at all times.

Dear Guest, First of all thank you for your review. We are very pleased that you had a relaxing stay and appreciated the location of the hotel as well as the layout of our various rooms. We take good note of your remarks concerning the lack of dishes proposed on the menu and have informed our chef. We have also informed our technical service about the wifi. We thank you again for your compliments and for mentioning Five Stars for the staff. We would be delighted to welcome you on a future visit to the Relais du Moulin, Hôtel de Charme & Spa****.

Wonderful stay at Le Relais du Moulin! This charming hotel is located near St. Anne on the southeast coast of Gaudeloupe. We loved the warm greeting and personal attention from the concierge and other hotel staff. We stayed in one of the bungalows situated around the mill near the main entrance. The room was exceptionally clean with good quality linens. The bed was comfortable and all amenities worked. The only small complaint was a lack of a door in the bathroom shower which could allow water to accumulate on the wetroom floor. For some reason no wash rags were included and we didn't ask why! The balcony is sufficiently private and the bungalow overall well insulated against noise. The grounds are full of tropical flora. Other amenities include a spa, bar, pool and business center. We paid for breakfast which was very good although you could go outside for a cheaper experience. We had dinner one night at the restaurant. The food and service is quite good although there are other options in the surrounding area. The hotel is not on the beach but this was not a reason not to give the hotel a 5 star rating. Please consider Le Relais du Moulin for your travel plans to Guadeloupe!

We stayed in the Superior Suite for our stay as we were three and the room was infallible, except for some slightly dated wallpaper (not an issue).
The breakfast was potentially one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had. Fusing French and Carribean tastes, it had pastries (Pain au Chocolat, Croissant) with incredible quality. In the fruits section, the tropical climate presented us with fresh bananas, pineapple, passion fruit and more delights.
Many reviews complain about the restaurant, which does not appear to be worth it. But do not base your decision on this, there are many brilliant places within 5 minutes walking distance.
Staff and the rest of the soft product was very good and waiting times (for things like us messing up the safe) we’re fantastic.
Overall, a highly recommended hotel.

My review was challenging because Relais du Moulin has some notable highs and lows. First off the grounds, front desk and housekeeping services were both superb and responsive. The restaurant puts out a very nice breakfast spread but wait staff were hard to find and most have very limited English which made even routine requests more difficult than they needed to be. The bilevel suites were very aesthetically pleasing and well appointed but impractical and hard to maneuver since the upstairs bedroom was separated from the downstairs bathroom. Likewise, the toilet is across the room and not in the same area as the sink and shower. The spiral stairway linking the upper and lower levels is quite narrow and made you think twice about leaving things behind. I banged my head on the eaves beams a handful of times during our stay. Lugging your suitcase up the stairway was not easy and even worse for seniors. If it matters to you, Relais attracts an almost exclusively French clientele

Dear Customer, First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to share your comment. We are delighted that you have appreciated the reception and the reactivity of the staff of the reception as well as the cleaning service. Regarding the restaurant service, we are also delighted to read that you enjoyed the breakfast. However we are sincerely sorry that you had difficulties with the language, we take note of your remarks. For our different rooms, we offer three categories of rooms including our bungalow type room which is about thirty square meters with the terrace without mezzanine. We would be delighted to welcome you during your next stay at the Relais du Moulin and why not in one of our bungalow rooms. Warm regards, Le Relais du Moulin

The staff in this place have earnt it the four stars, if they weren’t so great I’d have given it three.
This place is so orientated for its french guests if you’re from anywhere else it’s limited. This is most clear in the food. Everything is heavy, rich, and a bit bland if I am honest. We would have loved a salad, or even just a light panini/ snack, but there’s nothing available.
Best things were the cocktails! Amazing, delicious and plenty of choice. Breakfast was a chance to get some fruit and the choices were nice. I wouldn’t recommend eating in the resented any if you’re not french. Go for the tapas bar. The prawns are amazing!
Shocked though by the over charging of their recommended taxi service. We asked reception to organise a car to take us to the marina. They came back with a price of 150 euros! We asked the receptionist did she think that was fair and she said, do you want it or not. We said no, organised our own and paid 40 euros. This would suggest there is some sort of back gander going on her perhaps so be careful!

A wonderful little resort consisting of about 35 2-unit bungalows (some have lofts, so be sure you choose one that suits your mobility). The breakfast buffet included with the room rate was always freshly presented from scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage to yogurt, fruit and baked goods. Eggs can also be ordered to your preference. The bar and its staff were great offering Happy Hour specials and a selection of tapas if you wanted a break from the modern, French cuisine in their restaurant. Unless you want to drive into a nearby town this is the only restaurant in the area. Again, food and staff at main restaurant were very nice but when busy service was a bit slow with dirty dishes sitting uncleared for 20+minutes. There’s a rocky “surfer’s beach” within an easy 10 minutes walk. The nicer, calmer whit sand beach (Bois Jolan) is separated by rough terrain so pretty much not walkable. I think the resort should offer a shuttle service to/from Bois Jolan Beach! Otherwise, a beautiful pool with most chaises having (straw hut type) umbrellas. Overall, a wonderful little place to enjoy French Caribbean hospitality where the primary language, of course, is French! Limited 120v service in the rooms so bring adapters! Enjoy!

I am not an extensive traveller, but I've been around the block a few times and seen some things. I have traveled often in the Caribbean, visiting several islands over the last two decades with family and friends. This, our first time visiting Guadeloupe, was our 20th anniversary celebration. My wife and I really enjoyed our time at Le Relais du Mouiln and the personal and very special attention that they provided. We rented a car and drove to the hotel. The hotel provided free parking. We were welcomed with a cool beverage and towel. I do not speak French, but the staff was very kind and suffered through my rough pronunciation. Fortunately French is my wife's native tongue. In planning a special anniversary experience, the ladies at the front desk (Gwal and Chloe) provided expert advice (especially with the champagne) and helped plan a wonderful day. The hotel's spa is very good and helped set a relaxing mood.
The restaurant: The service was great. Lara was very kind and always remembered our desire for oat milk with our coffee. The food was okay. We learned that a new chef had just taken over, so the selections were not very extensive. However, we never had a bad meal. The restaurant's outdoor seating was great, even when it was raining.
The room: Our room was basic... a bit small, but it was always clean and provided the essentials of a hot shower and comfortable bed.
The pool: It never seemed crowed and poolside service was excellent. There weren't any children that I recall. Again, the food selection was limited with the new chef, but the bar was perfect. There was always good music playing.
The view: We selected this location knowing that we were not close to the beach. However, having a car meant that we could drive to see the best island views. We included trips to Pointe de Chateaux, Saint Francois, Sainte Anne, Memorial ACTe, as well as a long day over to Basse-Terre, with stops in the National Park, Deshaies, and le Jardin Botanique.

The service, ambience and gastronomic quality of Le Relais du Moulin are phenomenal. The pool, pool bar, grounds and restaurant are outstanding as are the staff. We have only given this review four stars because the rooms, whilst very chic are a little out dated and the over bath shower in our room was in need to some TLC and updating.
I cannot complement the staff highly enough. My partner has a hearing impairment and although I always let the hotel know. This was the first ever time that the check in staff had remembered and ensured they were speaking clearly enough to be understood and checked with my partner that she could understand them.
The quality of the food in both the bar and restaurant was amazing and the planture’s punch was the best we found in the whole of Guadeloupe.

Very good address, very good service.
However, we had a problem in the bathroom of our room, with the toilet, which was not fixed properly. The problem was also in the room next door. Due to level of prices, this can not be acceptable to have non-functional toilet. We would have had an efficient solution offered, such as a change of room or a significant discount.
