Club Med La Caravelle in Guadeloupe is celebrated for its welcoming service and professional staff, although guests have experienced occasional disorganization. The vibrant atmosphere, marked by entertaining shows and parties, is a hit among many, even if some areas could use more Caribbean essence.
While the beachfront location earns high marks for its beauty and water activities, opinions on room quality and maintenance vary. The resort's cleanliness is consistently acknowledged, yet the value proposition is debated due to language limitations and the cost of excursions.

Detailed Reviews
Overall great hotel, with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. It is ideal for families with children. The beach is great and clean, and the ‘Zen’ area with the infinity pool is a great place to escape the noise of the kids and music for an afternoon. There are so many different activities to do. I went there hoping to do a week of yoga and relax & reconnect. Laura, the yoga instructor was brilliant, she is a great teacher and projected her instructions very clearly. The only bad side to the yoga classes was that it was held in the reception/lobby! It was not at all pleasant, whilst trying to relax and disconnect to be surrounded by so much background noise (groups of children, the noise of the restaurant, the people playing ping pong). It would have made a lot more sense to have the classes on the grassy area, under a roofed pavilion just behind the Mango bar! When we asked the Sports Manager why this was, it was simply a time-tabling issue as they had a muscle/stretching class on at the same time. They could have easily switched the timings around. My fiancé & future sister-in law were disappointed. Otherwise, great overall experience.

Our experience in Club Med Guadeloupe was an unexpected suprise as to how much we enjoyed our stay there. At first we had planned to be there for 2 weeks but afterwards decided to extend for 5 more days. Only that says a lot about the way we felt there. The G.O. team made us feel welcome and at home and made sure we had an enjoyable trip. Whenever we go in Club Med’s we are keen to do activies. The gym team with Helene and Romane ( great variated workouts) and the circus team with Pietro, Fiona, Tay ( all of them are really nice and make a great team) were one of the highlights of our trip. The resort has a beautiful spa location with an oceanview so we decided to take advantage of that as well. Deborah, Thomas and Tatiana make a very good team and were great at making as feel relaxed. Above all, we were genuinely surprised with the shows and the coreography created by Oceane. Of course, this is calls for a recognition to the entire team participating in the performance and their hard work. After the shows, the entertaiment team with Enes made sure we had a good time whether it was about doing the Crazy Science or partying at the Allmanda.
Since we were in a such unique place with beautiful scenery we also decided to try the diving. Harry made the experience a whole lot better and reminded us why we like doing this activity so much in the first place. He was calm, and receptive while guiding us whilst never making us feel unsafe or in danger of any kind. Sincere thanks to the entire kite surf team which had patience and made sure I understood all explanations during or before starting the lessons. It was my first take on this kind of sport and this team definitely inspired me to keep doing it and practice it as a hobby.
The few requestes and small issues we had were resolved at the reception with the help of Muriel who gave us a warm smile and ended up responding to all our questions.
Although there were some tehnical problems regarding one of the rooms because of the lack of profesionalism from the local employees the Chef de Village, Boris, once hearing about it was fast in providing us with a solution and apologised for the inconviniences created. You could feel he was present everywhere and very open to feedback, by checking in to see if everybody was having a good holiday. On a more fun note, the chief of the aqua gym team made the activity unique by playing the Bohemian Rhapsody in the background.
To sum it up, we had a great time in La Caravelle and wish to come back one day to relieve the memories created in it!

An all round very nice vacation and resort. A beautiful resort on a gorgeous beach. Kudos to the cleaning staff who kept the rooms clean. A shout out to all those involved in the nightly entertainment and special thanks to Angelique & Camille who did everything they could in arranging an English excursion for our family in Basse Terre. It proved to be difficult as everything was booked. We had a great time on the excursion seeing what the beautiful island of Guadeloupe had to offer. The water aerobics were great. The food was good. The resort could invest in new towels for the rooms and provide more opportunities to make reservations at the a la carte restaurant. Finally it was great to see how the staff engaged with their guests, even after their shifts were over. We had some amazing discussions with Danielle.

Seriously the worst resort I’ve ever been too.
The beach is beautiful but public, overcrowded mostly with people who aren’t from the resort itself. If you want to lay down on a bed or chairs you might as well forget that unless you get up at 6:00 to guard your spot, which some people do.
We were in the zen oasis part which is adults only with its private pool. I guess the pool is pretty nice compared to the “main pool”. Same idea as the beach, the beds and chairs are always taken or reserved unless you “guard” yourself a seat.
The food is horrible for a club med, I’ve been to cheaper resort with much better food. There were barely three different fruits available. I was starving the whole time I was there. Basic things are hardly accessible or hard to find such as cold filtered water, sodas or ice. I mean for a resort of this “scale” it shouldn’t be this way. There’s a buffet which is horrible and a restaurant at the end of the beach which you “order” from. There were 5 dishes on the whole menu and only 2 were available... I mean honestly that’s totally unacceptable ! The ice cream available at the buffet was pretty good but being in a club med crowded with young children you can guess that you need to wait at least twenty minutes to be served. There’s a birds nest inside the ceiling of the buffet restaurant right above the variety of breads, you can clearly hear them and see the stains that have accumulated from the feces.
As read in other reviews, most employees seem pissed off at everything. Quite frankly you just learn you’re better off not asking them for anything. It’s a French speaking resort, and French is my native language but most employees had a very hard time understanding anything I was saying. You’re barely two feet away from them, eating your lunch, and you clearly hear them complaining about customers. They are also frequently on their cellphones as they are “working”.
If you’re used to more upscale hotels or fine dining this is not the place for you !

First experience in all inclusive for the family, including two growing teenagers. The setting is perfect, secluded quiet, idyllic. The food is always fresh and there are plenty of options. the only huge disappointment was the restaurant a la carte which offers the same food only it is served to your table and there are less options. The activities are plenty and accessible except the sailing. the waters are rough and experience is required to navigate the waves and reefs. unfortunately the staff was not super enthusiastic with providing lessons or help us out. Also It is also a real bummer that SUPs and kayaks are for 18yrs+. my 15 year-old wished he could have used one on his own and not with mom or dad...
Rooms were spacious and the cleaning service was stellar. Club Med could continue to maintain the property to make it look even more polished, but we understand that they put more attention to ambiance and food and those did not disappoint. Enes the head of entertainment team was really great.

We love the Clubmed concept, the beach, the location, the atmosphere and the food. In the past 4 years we went every year in Martinique and Guadeloupe.
The team is very welcoming, the check-in and check-out was very easy, the bars and dining are great, you may purchase your own wine if you wish.
The greatest inconvenient was the black mold on the bedroom ceiling, that we had to breath every night. Not in the bathroom, but straight on the top of bedroom's ceiling. The rooms are quite old and while some painting was done to refresh the look, still, it requires some deeper work. we still love the concept.

First visit to Caravelle, 5th overall trip to a Club Med. This location is lovely - beautiful beach, good food, and clean. There were a few quirks that would make me have second thoughts about returning.
Our room was in the St. Anne building and facing a part of the public beach covered in seaweed so there was constant odor of fishiness while sitting on the terrace. The pool, while clean and with a nice pool deck, was very small compared to the pool at the Punta Cana location. Also, if your children only speak English, they will probably not want to go to the kids club since every other child spoke only French.
The ocean is lovely, the staff is mostly great, our room was always cleaned nicely, and we love the food at the buffet with many choices. I will go to Club Med again but perhaps not this one. It's also very hard to get there from the US and when JetBlue cancelled all flights to the island for the rest of 2021, we had limited options to rebook and when we finally did, it cost an additional $4,000. Not Club Med's fault but it's a consideration going forward!
Also, the staff was extremely helpful in fixing a mistake in our booking which had us booked into two rooms without guarantee of them even being in the same building. We couldn't get through to anyone on the phone at Club Med despite waiting 2 hours on three occasions. But Mimi on FB Messenger fixed it all!
The staff also made the most delicious birthday cake for my son. However, they said they would put flowers in our room and a small keepsake for his birthday and neither was provided.

The most poorly managed club med I have ever experienced!
Let's start with the positive points because it will go faster: the beauty of the site (not the buildings) just La Guadeloupe and especially the Caravelle beach. The GO fitness which is excellent and the team of the small club which does everything it can to take care of the children despite aging infrastructure and visibly few resources available to really entertain the children.
Other than that, everything is dramatic at this club. First of all the rooms. We are in a deluxe room next to reception. Impossible to sleep because it's so noisy in the evening until past midnight and woken up at 6 a.m. by the music played in the bar by the cleaning team (even though my son is 3 years old and I haven't taken him without warning). So it would have been wise to be placed in a child-friendly place!
In addition to the unbearable noise, the air conditioning units are malfunctioning and full of mold. Turning them on creates asthma attacks. When one of the two air conditioning units was turned off, it still made an airplane noise. The cause: a part is broken and instead of replacing it a makeshift connection was made. Our wifi box doesn't work so even with the paid connection that we took in the hope of being able to connect it doesn't work!
For recently renovated rooms the general condition leaves something to be desired
Then the food: never before seen! The buffet is the equivalent of a school canteen. We are rationed on everything, even basic products (eg: no cottage cheese in the evening, lots of cold meats and not always an equivalent without pork), never fresh whole fish. Only frozen products. The desserts are pitiful and the fruits are so basic even though we are on an island where all exotic fruits grow.
What is served is not bad but it is really the poorest buffet I have had
No swimming pool suitable for young children. No parasols on the beach and the few deckchairs are taken over by 6am.
In short, we are there for 12 days and it is the worst stay we have had. When we talk to the accommodation manager about it, her only response is "sorry it's not to your taste, we have lots of satisfied customers"
Full? Since our arrival, the reception has been full of people outraged by the state of the rooms, the buffet and other things. A gentleman spent 5 nights in a room with a completely moldy fridge (yes yes moldy photo to support) other customers had bed fleas, the technical service is overwhelmed because nothing works in the rooms. And they themselves regret the way in which management manages the maintenance of the premises
In short, a club med that makes you never want to go to the club med again. We still have over 6 weeks booked in the year 2024. My experience here makes me want to cancel everything!

The Landscape is beautiful and the beach is wonderful. Although we booked an expensive room in the upper floor we did not get same with no prior notice. We got an expensive nice room on the ground floor. The room was very nice in a completely new unit same is the swimming pool, however all the rest is a big disappointment!!! The food was of a very low standards, many flies around the food the cheese and fruits. For one week stay there is poor selection of two restorants within the site, included in the deal. The paths are filled with standing water and mud after every rain, so you need to find alternative ways which can not be reached easily.

this is a beautiful property. beach and water is gorgeous. the room is nicely appointed but the WIFI is unacceptablely slow - barely worked which is just unacceptable given the price of the room per night. athe room thermostats are set such that you cannot go below 72f/21c. for me that is too hot at night. i get the energy savings but it needs to be cooler at night. Food is great and staff is excellent
