In the beginning , I was a bit skeptical to choose this hotel. I’m glad I did! The room I choose was a suite Privilege , was new and pretty, close to the private beach and pool. When the m just arrived I did a reservation with Andry( public relation girl),for the restaurants. The buffet for breakfast and lunch also have all kinds the food, Caribbean, veggie, etc. The people are so nice and with good attitude. They made my stay so pleased. I will come back again in the near future. Take also the Saona island tour with Gabriel, the tour guy at the hotel. Totally worst it!! Quick note: the hotel offers to do the PCR if you need it, all days from 10am to 12 without appointments, but they will take 3 days results to come. What I did, I went to the centro Medico punta cana and in 24 hours they sent it to my email. Cost Us$90. Hope that’s will help!!😁

Catalonia Bavaro Resort a family hotel supposedly. I booked this stay because a colleague had told me that he had stayed at Catalonia but the adults section & that he had great reviews. We are a family of 4, which includes a 6 year old girl & 3 year old boy. Needless to say we were expecting some discrepancies due to the ongoing COVID Pandemic. However this was the worst vacation ever. First the good, during the check in process the representative was very attentive & helpful. I booked a privilege room/wristband & I can say the room was on point. The air-conditioner was excellent, the room was ample, 2 sinks & 2 showers was a nice touch. The mini fridge was stocked & restocked on a daily basis, towels & toiletries were replenished daily as well. The only problem we encountered was that the safe was not working, but I reached out to customer service & they sent someone to fix it within minutes.  I was upset that we could not set a reservation for the Japanese restaurant which is the must go to for us in every stay, I think that the Resort knowing that this is the most popular restaurant should have it open throughout the week not on a limited basis. The buffet was mediocre, the food would vary from day to day, some items would be good on 1 day then the next day it would be unedible. I am one that dislikes wasting food but on this trip we did a lot of that due to the taste. The selection was extremely small.  The staff was attentive, up until our last day which was terrible. For breakfast we sat next to where the waiters & waitresses work out of, but it took forever to get service. For lunch we sat in the same location & this time around it was worse. They saw us sit but nobody came to serve water or ask what we wanted to drink. My wife had to get their attention & request some water to which "Yaridet" spoke loudly to her & told her "wait I will go when I finish" my wife observed her go through all the tables & serve the other guests water & when she finished that round she then served our table water, even after serving the water she still did not ask what we wanted to drink. It was so bad that I ended up having to remove all the plates from our tables & placing them in there work area. My wife asked me if while she was getting food someone came to ask what we wanted to drink, I told her no. Now it has almost been an hour since we have been at this table & the service was horrendous. I went to get some pasta & told "Alfredo" to please go to my table & ask my wife what her & the kids wanted to drink. When I returned & started eating my wife asked me where were our drinks, I told her that I had asked "Alfredo" to approach the table, needless to say he never did, my request seems to have been too much. I got extremely upset & seeing the waiters & waitresses there just talking, I shouted what do I need to do to get some service, we have been here over an hour now & we have gotten nothing from you, the very outspoken "Yaridet" again decided to say I will be there in a minute just wait. She finally came & asked what the desired drinks were, at this point my wife no longer wanted anything but she asked for pineapple juice for the kids. I asked Alfredo to speak to the supervisor. Yaridet passed by our table & stated "please pardon me sir". A gentleman by the name of "Nestor" came I asked him what his title was he said he was the Restaurant Supervisor, I found that a little odd since usually supervisors don't wear the same uniform but ok I told him what had transpired & that I wish there were cameras there so they could see me removing the plates from our table & the ordeal we went thru. He was very apologetic & stated he would talk to his superiors.  The animation in this Resort was obsolete. We saw them plenty of times just kicking back & relaxing talking to patrons as if they were also on vacation. There were 2 ladies that were supposedly in charge of the children's animation. I am going to tell you right now they are the worst. They say one thing later on change it all around. My 6 year old daughter was invited to the MiniDisco which we took her to on Thursday night, OMG what a total letdown. These 2 do not know how to interact with children, they don't know how to engage the children & they don't have any charisma for dealing with children. 1 of them approached my daughter & whispered in her ear, we asked my daughter what she was told, she said "she told me that if I stay & I dance I will get a gift". This event was dreadful to such extent that I told my wife I was taking my son elsewhere. My wife said they had a game where the 3 kids that were there took part, my daughter did not win, but she stood because she had been promised a gift for dancing. When they finished they gave 1 girl a gift & the all 3 of the kids got tootsie rolls. My daughter was crying because they stated the event was over & no more prizes. My wife approached these 2 ladies & asked where was my daughters gift, to which they said she didn't win. We totally understand that if there is a game or competition only 1 person can win, however they told my daughter she would get a gift for dancing not as part of a game or competition. My wife asked them for their names but believes she was given bogus names. There was a 9 year old Ukrainian girl that was talking to my wife, & this animation team didn't even have the decency of approaching them & asking them to please go elsewhere, instead they just turned all the lights off & walked away. Friday morning we went to customer service & informed them we wanted to give a complaint, this was about what had happened the night before to my daughter. Andry was very attentive & apologetic, she immediately got on the phone with the animation team supervisor who expressed his apologies as well, we were asked to wait a few minutes & someone came over & handed her a bag, which she in turn handed to my daughter, who at that point was all smiles. Long story/review short we will not be staying here again nor do we recommend this to anyone.

I spent 3 days in March and unfortunately this hotel is not good enough. I never seen such a terrible food like in the hotel, TERRIBLE. It was frozen food full of quimics. The only good one is breakfast. The hotel promised to pay PCR tests for Americas and didnt pay. Don't recommend at all

When we arrived the safe wasn't working. We immediately asked reception to fix it but they never came, and we have been robbed two days later. We immediately called security, who denied receiving calls from us regarding the safe and accused us of lying about the robbery. The Resort didn't show any understanding towards us. Which is unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. The boss and the head of security were determined to put the blame on us and deny all responsibility. They then asked us to leave the establishment which placed us in a precarious situation, in the street, without money or internet connection. In total, 4 days of vacation were wasted, including those of friends we had met during our stay who were arrested for several hours, in addition to all the valuable things we lost. Our vacation was a failure, which is the saddest part of this story.

Very nice resort with some of the best staff in Punta Cana. My family went for a small vacation in some tropical weather, my wife found Catalonia online and at the time they had the best rates for the amenities. I cannot describe how phenomenal the staff was, all the way down to the maintenance crew! Everyone was super friendly and greeted you with a smile no matter what was going on. We were lucky enough to actually meet 3 of the staff members who went above and beyond to make sure my family needed nothing but sunshine. If you are ever staying at the Catalonia Bavaro Beach and Golf Resort look for Felix Mercedes (butler at ExclusiveTravel Resort), Yohanan Inirio (beach staff) and Junior Javier (beach staff), these are some of the staff I personally had the chance to interact with and they were great!!!!
