Here is my honest review. I am writing on my phone as “I go” so disregard any typos, inconsistent tense or tone. It’s obviously from a subjective point of view with an objective overlap ; however, I will attempt to point things out that a reasonable prudent traveller would pay attention to, and I leave it to you to decide how much weight to allocate it. Short version: Stars: I bestow it 3.8 starts Worth it? - it depends, and in my view on how much it costs you. We paid $7,000 CAD for 2 full weeks. At this price point, with current prices and inflation rate I think it is worth it. Sargassum/Sea weed - very little to none, meaning little on the beach itself, and they are patches in it in the ocean, but there are plenty of room to swim without contacting with it. On some days there is no sea weed at all. Crowd - mostly couples and seniors. This is Not a party spot. Expanded review Generally a decent spot, that lacks good service and good food. Unfortunately, this TRS is not even close to be a rival to the TRS Coral in Mexico. Perhaps, it never was meant to be, and perhaps this is why the later is 35%-40% more expensive than the former. Generally, this is an enjoyable spot. It hosts several pools. Some are way quieter than other. The main pool requires more frequent cleaning than it receives. Our room, which I believe was a Junior suit, was nice and modern. Unfortunately, it had a major flaw in its design. It does not allow too much privacy, close to non quite frankly. Perhaps, the idea was for it to be stylish, modern and cool, but the absence of privacy is a problem. It is worsened by the fact that the washroom door has gaps on the top and on the bottom, so even if you do a gentle #2, well your romantic mood, if you had one, will vanish instantly. The washroom has a miniature vent (our didn’t work), but it would not make much difference anyway. Your stomach will take time to adjust to the location food.No air freshener or “use before you go” - for management to consider. Other than that, while not fatal, still a major flaw tin otherwise lovely room. A demand for chaise lounges/sun-beds at the main pool suppresses the supply. You should attempt to reserve it as early as 7 a.m. Fyi - no reservation allowed for the ones located at the beach. The ocean 🌊 is refreshing Be aware of mosquitoes🦟. They attack viciously at night, every night. Bring any remedy you can, and lots of it. Also, be prudent and educate yourself about the Zika virus 🦠 that is present in the region and is transmitted via 🦟 if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant 🤰 . We received a visit for two menacing cockroaches 🪳 3-4 inches long. The first one was destroyed instantly and with a precisions, like the cruiser 🛥 Moskva. The second one was hit, but escaped. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. No issues here. The entertainment team was on point and, quite frankly, entertaining. No issues there either. Live Entertainment at TRS Lobby starting at 8:00 PM & *Circus Show* at sunset Theater– at 9:30 pm* At the main lobby there is a daily live entertainment. Nothing major, just a singer. Quite enjoyable. The main bar is also located there. Besides the main bar there is some sort of station, which apparently is operated during a 30 minutes window 6:30-7 pm. They do craft a very elaborate cocktails, and it takes, literally, up to 5 minutes per a cocktail. It’s quite a show with an interesting grand finale. Your cocktail is being put in a sealed glass jar, then they burn wood 🪵 pieces, and smoke travels into that glass jar, fills it in and delivers a smoky taste to the cocktail. 5++ for the presentation. 2/5 for the taste. It is simply not good. Ordered 2 different ones on different occasions and didn’t finish either of them. Service needs to be improved, drastically. After my room was cleaned, I would expect that all towels are replaced. Wasn’t the case. Had to go and ask. On other occasion the mini bar was not restocked. On other occasion - shower gels were not restocked. On another occasion - coffee capsules were not restocked. On another occasions - chips and snacks were not restocked. It’s been 3 days and the espressos capsules were not restocked, I had to ask for it. Update - they finally restocked them. Today, I asked to send a bottle of rum to my room, and I was advised it will be delivered after 4 pm. It is the next day it has not been delivered yet. - update, I reminded them 3 days later and finally received the rum. They attempted to remedy by sending two bottles (alcohol here is on every other corner, thus not having a bottle in my room was not a big deal) At this point, c’mon guys, I came here to relax and not to run around to remind you to do your job at this, presumably, a 5 star hotel. My time is valuable and that should be respected. Of a note - coffee/espresso/cappuccino is great. They use commercial Nespresso machines. Their Bars have typical average ++stuff. I really didn’t like the local mojito and similar cocktails. They use some pre-mixed substances to make them. It does not taste good. A Gin and tonic is still a viable option, but the problem is tonic; it’s average at best. There are still options available: any hard liquor + soft drink. Rom + cola, vodka + juice/soda etc. A Prosecco (here the Spanish Cava) was not enjoyable. (We got a few bottles of Moët at a duty-free coming in here, if you enjoy sparkling consider that. I didn’t notice high-end champagne brands here. The best, if not the only one, they had was also a Moët Imperial (not brut) at $139 per bottle). Their president Beer was meh. (Stella maybe?) Free of charge: Vodka: grey goose, stolichnaya, sky etc Scotch: Johnny Walker red and black (black tasted funny, chivas regal 12 ( was good), glenviet 12, Jameson and a few more Gin: beefeater, Gordon’s, bombay and some more Cognac: Hennessy (tasted funny) and some more + some brandy brands. Tequila: some brands, I am not a tequila drinker,so I didn’t pay attentions Rom: local stuff. Restaurants - ouch The below experience was noted with a full consideration that I was not going to the Michelin Star Restaurants. Surprisingly, the best food experience is at the breakfast/lunch spot. They also serve dinner which was ok. We went there on 2 occasions, and on both I ordered a T-bone steak 🥩, medium well and medium rare, both times came well 🤷🏻♂️. This spot wins because of the astonish view you get. It sits on a coast line. Every morning their is a musician playing for your. It is very enjoyable. The egg 🥚 game must be improved: you have 4 options: 1) a boiled egg - who wants that? 2) a sunny side egg on a proper taco 🌮, a great presentation, but not a good mix and not easy to cut through, 3) an omelette - an absolute failure. Not sure if it’s a local style or whatever; it is 0/5; and 4) and a poached egg over a piece of bread with garnishing - quite good and well sought , meaning it’s almost never there. Otherwise, it offers a typical buffet-style breakfast, with an outstanding ocean view and a typically talented musician to accompany. What a place to breakfast at!!! For lunch, there are 2 options. A grill that commences its operation in rather sporadical times, which offers multiple options i.e. burgers, nachos, sausages, various fish, pork, beef, fish, paella, you name it. Stationing 2 people there on a regular basis would help reducing the queue. Consistency would help too; sometimes a given piece is undercooked, overcooked or cooked right. There are two wooden benches that perhaps can fit 16 people comfortably, and there are other sitting options. Note for a management - pegions cover those benches in feces more frequently than they are being cleaned. The second option is the breakfast/lunch joint Helios, which we found to be an enjoyable experience. It’s a buffet/menu joint; meaning you can order from a menu or just go in a buffet style. The same outstanding view (if on a patio) and quite frankly much better food than in most of the restaurants (which is obviously a problem - for the restaurants). The also have different musicians perform acoustic covers on popular songs on different instruments during breakfast time. (1 person and 1 instrument per performance.) - this was lovely. La Adelina - Mexican I believe, the intention was to be a Mexican restaurant, at least they claim to be so. Its menu does list Mexican dishes; however, it is as Mexican as Trump is a Democrat or Obama is a Republican. Verdict 2/5 La Paisana - Argentinian It Houses great house wine, a stylish interior, and a cute and romantic outdoor patio. Unfortunately, this joint is drastically understaffed. It has been over an hour and 30 minutes since we arrived, and the appetizers just have been served. At least we got some wine to soften our disappointment. It’s very stuffy inside. The tables are rather wide. It’s difficult to carry on a conversation, thus everybody raises their respective voices. If you travelled the world and at least once been to a bazaar, well then that experience will inevitably resonate here. I asked to move us to a table outside, it’s much quieter and generally nicer. 2 hours later since arrived and still no main course. After 2 hours and 15 minutes our steaks were served, albeit the sides were incorrect. Our steaks while chewy, were tasteful; however, I cannot with certainty say it was due to the quality of the stake and mastery of the chef or merely because were starved for 2+ hours. Moreover, do avoid the steak side sauce at all cost. It is not good. Unfortunately, we both almost immediately got food poisoning. Coincidence? I let you to decide. Verdict. 1/5. La Bohemia - French It was good and enjoyable as the French cuisine can go in the Dominican. This joint enjoyed a light interior, seats were close enough to carry a conversation normally, food was served reasonably fast. The fondue 🫕 was good, however, why a shareable appetizer was served with only single long-stemmed fork is beyond be. An additional one was provided upon request. I had fish. It was good. It was a good night. Verdict 4/5. P.S. my fish was great, while my wife’s pork was merely okay. Update - we attended a second time. I ordered the coq au vin, was good, but small. Wife ordered a sea bass that I have the last time. It was quite small and meh. Consistency is an issues thorough-out restaurants. The fondue o this time was served with 2 forks. The second time we sat outside in a prior. Cute, but very humid. A musician typically performs on a patio scene at this restaurant. Verdict - still 4/5. El Dorado - a steakhouse. The venue is spacious and quite. It’s easy to cary a conversation should you wish to engage in one. For an appetizer, I had a tuna tartar which pretty much consisted of chopped tuna with a soy sauce and sesame. I also ordered the only one soup they had, that being an onion soup (little to no reference to French onions soup) it was no good, to say the least. (While an onion soup in the French restaurant was pretty good). It consisted of broth, some floating onions 🧅, one piece of square bread 🍞, with a tiny piece of cheese 🧀 on it. 0/5. Note to a management - either remove it from a menu or replace with a French onion soup. We got out steaks in a timely fashion; they were okayish. Verdict 3/5. La Lolita - Spanish tapas one. A cute looking joint. We were sited outside on a romantic patio l. Immediately we were entangled by the menu. Cold tapas apparently are not tapas at all, and you just go to a buffet-style bar to gather your cold appetizers. #weird. Hot tapas apparently are not tapas at all and are massive plates. After all, they were not that big. We ordered 5 in total. Lots of potato and sea food based tapas on the menu. Verdict 2.5/5 Portofino - Italian one. Oh boy, what a category to complete! Especially if you travelled Italy or at least been to a family owned or any 5 start Italian restaurant in any major metropolitan area. This restaurant is located in a spacious, fairly quite compound. Our orders were served in a timely fashion. My Bruschetta was nothing like a bruschetta is supposed to be. It consisted of chopped and seasoned tomatoes placed in the middle of the plate surrounded by a few bread pieces. Perhaps, the trick was that you have to put on yourself. I avoided ordering the traditional Italian dishes and went with a Sea-bass. It was okayish. My wife ordered a pepperoni pizza. She saw a wooden oven and got her hopes high. In summary - burned cheeses on bread with pieces of salami. You might be arrested and prosecuted in Italy if you serve that and call it a pepperoni pizza. For desert, I ordered a tiramisu. It was tolerable…left a half on the plate. Verdict 2.5/5 Sumptuori -Asian teriyaki -style one. Very loud. Perhaps, a failed attempt for a little show which is rather not appropriate. Oh God, please help to stop it. Where is my wine 🍷? Maybe, this would be is entertaining for children 4-9. Gyoza 🥟 was okay. Edamame were over-salted and over-soyed. The only main course consists of a fried rice 🍚 + veggies + beef/chicken /shrimp and is being cooked in front of you. I found the rice 🍚 under- salted and chicken-veggie mix over-salted. Personally, I was annoyed by the whole experience. My wife thinks it was not bad. If you want a chicken teriyaki this joint might be for you. Verdict - 3/5. Kusko - Peruvian-Japanese one, yeah, you read it correctly, and you are in for a delightful surprise. Quite stylish joint that hosts a pleasant atmosphere. Oh God, you heard my prayers! Delicious ceviche! Outstanding grilled octopus 🐙 (life hack - you may order more than one appetizer) Amazing grilled scallops! Maki are also good, but the above was outstanding as far as outstanding can go in the restaurants at this resort. Main course: Yasaitame - some sort of sea food stew with veggies. Quite good overall, maybe a little bit more salt 🧂needed for my taste. Overloaded with sea food, which is fine by me! Sauteed loin - tender meat, a nice filling dish. The appetizers killed the game here. 👌🏻 For desert we shared a Lima sigh which is a “Tasty intense cream made with condensed milk with a lemon zest accompanied by an Italian meringue” according to the description. It was meh. Too dry. Hands down, it is the first time, while vacationing here, that we truly enjoyed our dinner. Verdict - a well deserved 4.5/5. The service was still lacking a bit. Why the cutlery after appetizers was not refreshed for the main course is beyond me. Just leave it dirty on our table? 🤦🏻♂️ We did not regret the trip, it was enjoyable, but will not be coming back.…
Overall TRS was amazing. The property is gorgeous and all of the staff are friendly. Our bed was not very comfortable and room service was a long wait. Would love to see more live music at the pools during the day.
This is my second time visiting this hotel. The staff is excellent service excellent. My favorite bartenders are Angel, Juan and Danni. The beach waitresses are quick and kind, specifically love Elin. The activities here are excellent and always happening. You always feel included and they get you on your feet. Alfred is amazing, Kency is a great dj. There's always food available, bbq's on the beach. Sandy is a great waiter. The vibes are immaculate. All staff is here to serve with a smile and vibrant energy.
Pools were beautiful and staff was great!! The rooms were outdated, could definitely use some updating. It was always 75 degrees and humid in our room despite having someone come look at the air conditioning. The beach was covered in seaweed, making it difficult to enjoy the water. Beware of the Pallidium Rewards staff, they try to sell you time share opportunists every day, all day. However, our butler Randy was always accessible and friendly! We got a couples massage while to celebrate our honeymoon, which was great! The spa was relaxing and guest had access to hydrotherapy pools with the purchase of a spa service. We did not get to utilize those as we were not informed prior to our service. We ate at Kusko, Capricho, La Boheme and Helios. All restaurants served a variety of good food! Wish we had time to check out the other restaurants on the massive resort.…
Amazing people all around. Everyone was smiling and having a great time. Bartenders were better than expectations and the food services also. I can't say enough how amazing our room host was. That man not only got us anything we needed but doubled check that I was OK the next day when he heard I had drunkenly fell lol. Thank you for an amazing trip!!!!
Vacation getaway May 10-17 We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the ocean, pools, entertainment, food, drink, shops and entertainment , the staff was very helpful and pleasant and polite. We would definitely return.
My friend recommended the hotel when I told her I needed a place to bring my girlfriend for her first visit to The Dominican Republic. I was born in the DR, so I wasn't expecting a lot since I have experienced touristic experiences similar to this, so I came here not knowing how much I would be blown away by the treatment and all staff recommendations. From our check-in with Merlin at the front desk, all the bookings for great a la Carta restaurant recommended by our butter Cesareo and Johanna, *****YOU MUST GO TO Chic Cabaret*****, that's an experience I won't describe because I would fall short. I had a great time here, and I am looking forward to returning.
Amazing service. Alfred looked after us at the pool. Would highly reccomend this place to others and Will Definately return. Enjoyed our room , and the pool , the beach. The restaurants were magnificent
The resort was the best Palladium Location we've stayed at so far. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurants and facilities were great. Butler service was great, drivers were great, and excursions were nice as well. The only part that comes up short for me was the Shopping options.
We enjoyed a week at TRS Turquesa and wish it never ended! Our room in Building 55 was simply amazing. Our butler, Eury, bent over backwards to fulfill our every need, even though we didn't need much. The pool that we swam out of our room to was very comfortable and we even had our own personal bartended. ITs hard to describe how perfect everything was. Meals, pools, activities all to our likings. I think we are going to make it a point to stay at TRS resorts again for our all-inclusive needs.
