The property is just amazing. I had one of the casitas which was beautiful and had a splendid view. I didn't see a mosquito or fly the entire 3 days. The room and bath had all of the comforts. Comfortable bed. The staff, while not always smiley, will try to make sure your requests are satisfied. It is very homey with the friendly dogs and cats. You can walk around the area. It felt very safe. I hired the guide to go the waterfalls which is a must. I took most meals at the lodge and they were all plentiful and delicious. Just two warnings. The road getting to the ecolodge is not for the faint of heart. You really need an all terrain vehicle. The wifi is not very good - you can't stream - but this is the sort of special place that one should disconnect as much as possible.
We spent a night in the cabana with a private bath. The views of the mountains and the sea were amazing. Dinner was incredible coupled with spectacular views. We really felt like we were somewhere special! The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. We were able to unwind and relax. We would have planned to stay longer had we known what a special place this is. My only suggestion would be to bring a fan. The temperature was comfortable by early morning, but I was warm falling asleep. Thank you Tubaqua for a wonderful visit!
Accommodating despite short notice, lovely lunch looking out over Puerto Plata. Guide was excellent. and we really enjoyed learning about the local communities. Lunch was served in an open lounge with beautiful views.
We did not stay at the lodge, but just went for the day for the ancient pathways hike. It was great. Our guide Juanin was very informative and grew up in the area, Tonta the dog also joined in. This is off the beaten path and down country roads and fields and to a lovely swimming pool and water falls. Tim the owner was helpful when I emailed with questions. We had lunch at the end. Very enjoyable as we had worked up quite an appetite. Beautiful views from the lodge. Just over minute taxi from Sosua. Thanks unique experience.
I would like to thank Tim and his staff for a great visit to the Tubagua Eco Lodge. We were a group of five friends in our mid 50s that went on a hike with 2 guides through the countryside to a waterfall. They were very knowledgeable about the area and answered all of our questions The scenery on the mountainside was breathtaking! The hike was about 1.5 hrs each way. We were able to swim in a beautiful pool of water there which cooled us off for the trek back This hike was at our leisure which was great because none of us were athletes so it was a bit exhausting but we were happy for the opportunity to participate in something so different. A delicious lunch was provided for us after the hike that included dominican stew with rice and salad. We were also able to purchase drinks there and had a few cervacas as well . If you are looking for something different then this might be for you. We contacted Tim at the lodge and he arranged transportation, the hike and lunch for us The cost was approx. $60US per person which we thought to be a great value for our visit. Wish you all well there. Once again Tim and family thanks from Lori and family.…
