Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked a last minute vacation here and was very disappointed. Let’s first mention the good points as there is a few. The room was clean. We did stay in a newer building that had recently been renovated. The beach was very nice. Buffet was good a few times but most time mostly passable. Now the negative. The customer service was atrocious. We asked to have a first floor room which was confirmed when we booked with our travel agent. My husband is a senior citizen with a bad hip and there are no elevators. We asked again at check in but the lady who checked us in was not listening (in fairness it was busy) and we were assigned a room on the top floor. When he could barely walk up all the steps to the room we were told someone would come and move us in an hour 2.5 hours later no one came back. After waiting almost 4 hours we were moved. Our new room had a phone that did not work. Took another day to fix that. We mentioned to the customer service desk we are vegetarian and they sent us to a special bbq (was all meat), then when we mentioned it to them about the bbq they wanted us to go to a seafood restaurant where we could not eat a single dish on the menu. Other places we traveled to were very willing to help us find something that was diet complient. Here they were not. We paid for a delux garden view room we and the view was 1 small tree and a storm drain. They can fix this place up as much as they want but until the fix the sastemic customer service issues it’s just putting lipstick on a pig.

The resort offers travelers plenty of options from full luxury to budget ... however, you definitely get what you pay for -- should you choose the economical route. Pros: -Wonderful beach -Choice of quiet, semi-quiet, or activity-based pool areas -Entertainment staff at pool was fantastic (we spoke with a guy named "Blackie" on numerous occasions and he was a very charming, funny, and engaging representation of the DR) -Courteous and helpful staffs among housekeeping, entertainment, and food service -The clientele was largely Dominican (in July at least); so you get some feel for the people and culture of the country - Food at the buffet was generally good Cons: -You get what you pay for ... book the budget rooms and you'll get rust stains on the mirrors and refrigerators, cabinet drawers that won't shut all the way, old beds and furniture - If you book at the budget price, you'll only get one reservation at the specialty restaurants and you're prevented from accessing other areas of the property - You'll get a big sales pitch to buy into their "non-time-share" model - We spent over an hour trying to check-in -- in a very hot and crowded lobby (another aspect that comes with booking at the budget options)
