This mansion was built by the DuPont heiress, and it shows. The house and grounds are stunning; when we visited, all was deserted, allowing us the fantasy of owning this wonderful property in a bygone age. The bar on the top floor is accessed via the servants' staircase (mind your head!) but is worth the climb. Staff and musicians outnumber...

We came here one afternoon to visit the mansion and spent the afternoon walking around the grounds (even though we were not guests staying at the hotel, they allowed us to walk around and explore the place). The views from the top floor bar are amazing! Apart from the great views and very friendly staff, the daiquiri's served there are...

We opted to skip the very expensive dinner and just enjoyed touring the property and went for a drink at the bar. Guzman served us BY FAR the BEST Daiquiri we had for our whole 15 days in Cuba! He was so lovely he really made our visit memorable.

The group of forty had prearranged a dinner over looking the ocean. The setting was wonderful. The building is a true beauty. The appetizer plate was artistic with 6 items carefully arranged. There was only one entree offered. The fish was a large serving but dry and tasteless. Dessert was ice cream cake which was again forgettable. The best part...

Three mature couples booked a Seating together. Service was so-so. Not at all busy. Got two dinners mixed up. Charged for water and bread/butter, which surprised us. Cash only, no credit cards. Easy listening piano and pleasant surroundings, but nothing spectacular compared to, say, the Italian Ala Carte at the Sol Palmeras, which is all-inclusive.

This lived up to all the hype, and was a great place to stay for 3 nights. Yes, the paint is peeling here and there and the toilet flush needed regular repairs, but that all contributed to its charm. Beautiful old 1920s building, abandoned by the family when Castro came to power. Gorgeous views from the roof top bar, and...

This government owned hotel was a unique opportunity to see something of the Real Cuba. The hotel only has 8 rooms, and it is difficult to get a booking, it has not been altered since it was first built in 1930. The place could do with a lick of paint and a few repairs, but this is up to the...

This wonderful house was a residence of a millionaire DuPont, who owned a big part of Varadero-peninsula. It was also him who built the first golf course near his house, the predecessor of 18-hole course of Varadero we can play at now. The house belonging now to Varadero Golf Club, there are lodgings, restaurant and a bar/café on the top...

We were there, in a group, for lunch. The house and grounds were all available to us and the pre-set meal was wonderful--very oriented to local fare--including a poached Mahi-Mahi that everyone loved. The bar on what is essentially an enclosed roof deck would be inviting in any weather and was especially so on the bright windy day we had...

I recently booked a typical all-inclusive vacation in Varadero. I had always dreamed of golfing at the Varadero Club and after looking into all of the various options I decided to book a one-night stay at the Xanadu as a romantic getaway for my wife and I during our vacation. The green fees and the dinner alone made up for...
