This is our second time at the Tortoga and I would return again. I honestly don't understand what people complain about. The food was good, small buffet but always something to choose from. It's basic and almost how you may eat at home of a diet of meat and potatoes or rice and fish, there was always fresh fruit and...

First, Cuba: if you have never been to Cuba, you need to know that 1CUC (Cuban Convertible Pesos) equals 1€ (Euro) that is the only way of paying in cash and the rate exchange in the banks can be surprising. Then 1CUC=25CUP (Cuban Pesos) which you are not allowed to have as a foreigner. Some places will accept Visa or...

I have to admit I've never stayed at a 3 star before but I went in with an open mind knowing not to expect too much. We arrived at about 7 or 8 pm and checked in. Our room had a broken fridge, broken toilet and a bad TV(snowy picture). We asked to switch rooms and they did for us...

To actually travel for 10 hours and then arrive and be turned away to an excuse of overbooking and then sent to a sub-standard alternative is extremely unprofessional and a poor choice of management decision. Gran Caribe has twice disappointed my travels in the past year. NEVER AGAIN!

The beach is covered by a carpet of plastic trash, put there by the Canadian tourists, the locals, and even the hotel beach supervisors who work on the beach. Plastic cups, straws, cutlery, Styrofoam, plastic bags, etc. Plastic bottle caps or cutlery look like fish in the ocean waves to pelicans. Plastic becomes brittle in salt water and develops saw-like...

The second night of our stay, the hotel had surprised us when they switched our bed for a new one! We found out later that the hotel has been renovating for the past year. The beach was lovely. The entertainment at 9:30 every night ranged from dancers to rock and roll. We loved the bingo at 5 every evening while...

This is a decent resort, you won't be disappointed with what you paid for. All the facilities are O.K. and almost all the staffs are very nice and work very hard. My vacation went quite smooth and I feel quite satisfied with my stay at this resort when a something unpredictable happened. The next last evening before I left I...

We enjoyed everything about this resort..... Our only complaint would have been on the money exchange. We didn't care that we paid an extra 5% on the exchange, because we were too "lazy" to go to the bank plus we were able to exchange smaller amounts, but that they could only provide mostly larger bills - one peso were almost...

Good: -Decent rooms with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom -An enormous breakfast and dinner buffet with many choices -Located directly on the beach -Many on site facilities If you are looking for a sun/beach experience: this is the place for you! If however you want to see Cuba: don't go to Varadero. It's packed with tourists and all inclusive...
