This hotel has a lot going for it, and its inconsistencies can either be considered part of the quirky charms of present-day Cuba or an annoyance; I choose the former! This hotel is well maintained for the most part. Its elevators are somewhat slow and very temperamental - watch out for the "full" light when it illuminates and don't try...

Dear Teresita_Herndon_VA: It was very nice to receive your review. The feedback with our guests is essential for the continuous development of the hotel. We wanted though, to clarify our emergency stairs can be perfectly opened from the inside halls to the exterior and not the opposite for the security of our guests. Thanks for your compliments to the rooms,...

The hotel is modern and comfortable with good facilities and a very friendly staff. It is away from the centre of town but this is not a major problem. The bedrooms are large and well-equipped. There were some minor grumbles from members of our group - as was fairly common in Cuba some of the 'hot' food was almost cold,...

Sitting in the lobby, enjoying our complementary arrival drinks I felt I could be in any hotel in the world in the 90's, which is kind of disappointing having travelled all the way to Cuba to immerse myself in culture, however, please don't think ill of me, I am not complaining, it's just an observation. The restaurants and pools are...

Our group of 25 enjoyed our stay at the Melia. We drove by our bus to different locations in Cuba each day returning here as the other locations were affected by the hurricane. This hotel has excellent, well-trained staff, which certainly equal American fine hotel standards. There are several restaurants including a very good breakfast buffet with a huge assortment...

This is a very large hotel which attracts many tour groups. The lobby area is spacious and the staff helpful enough. Wifi is specific to the hotel at 6CUC (works in lobby & sometimes in room) for an hour so the normal cards don't work. The rooms are disappointing, you can hear street noise even from the 11th floor, bath...

Very good hotel. Excellent service and very clean. Loved the swimming pools. Excellent breakfast buffet. Only minor drawback is not in city center but short ride away. Was on a higher more deluxe floor which I recommend.

Large hotel for tourists. Needs renovation. Hot - cold water in bathroom difficult to regulate. Nondescript, but OK. Bed not very comfortable. No free wi-fi. Stayed just two days, so good location to explore the area, which is quite diverse and interesting. Nice view from the rooftop bar.

I recently went on a Cuba trip with Road Scholar where we stayed in hotels in 4 cities including Havana. This hotel was the best in terms of comfort, food, and location.
