I stayed 3 times in "La Estancia de Neptuno" for a total of almost 20 days. It is a safe haven for the visitor. One feels at home. Can ask information for traveling to the rest of Cuba, get help with transport, with room booking in other towns, taste home-made food prepared 'live', get advice on best places to buy souvenirs. The family is very intellectual and the discussions are always so interesting and cultural. I fully recommend this property, if one is really interested in Cuba.
Casa has two floors and is located on the last, up a fairly steep stairs, entrance through the door and gate, which must be open by the operator for both entry and exit. The staff were nice, the rooms spacious, and the common room is spacious with a balcony. Also, it was announced that the internet is available for $ 2 per 24h, I was told on the spot that this is not true and do not have access to the internet (some people have access to the Internet in their rooms and rooms) Despite everything, I do not recommend, steep stairs can be felt, breakfasts weak, no women's hand to cook them, Only one person Rolando, speaks English, with other staff is a communication problem. Expensive for accommodation and service, you can find better and cheaper casa. This is my opinion about this place. But if it does not bother you, going up a steep stair, problem with communication, no internet, and traveling in a group, I recommend it, because the rooms are spacious, large common room with balcony.…
Oh my, as a Cuba fan with a pro-labour orientation, I want to be fair but I can't recommend this Casa for any reason. It is located in a rough, poorly lit area about a 15 minute walk from Parque Centro and the wonderful Inglaterra Hotel. The area is safe, as Havana tends to be, but crumbling and dirty. The area is not for the faint of heart. The Casa is three flights up a rather stern marble staircase and is accessed by a door and gate which must be opened by the attendant for both entrance and exit. A buzzer summons such service. The staff were kind and the common room is spacious with a good balcony but our room did not have clean linen but did have pesky mattress mites which made my girlfriend and me very uncomfortable and itchy. It was the black hole of a romantic space with even the shower stream unable to decide between scalding and frigid.…
Really nice guest house. Friendly staff, nice sitting area, good local type location, close to tourist destinations, view of the Malecon and water beyond, nicely priced. I actually am missing the spot right now - which is what motivated me to write!
My friend and I stayed at la estancia for 3 nights. The staff are super lovely and extremely helpful. The casa itself is so beautiful and has a number of rooms to relax and enjoy the views. The breakfast was delicious and only 5 CUC per person per day. The location is about a 15-20 minute walk from the Capitol. There was only one staff member who spoke English which made it a little difficult but overall this place is great! Would definitely stay again and have recommended to travellers we have met along the way who are heading to Havana to stay here.
Located right on Neptuno in Centro neighborhood where Perserverancia dead ends, providing a great view down to the sea. Neptuno is full of everyday life and we enjoyed just sitting on the balcony and watching the procession of all types of taxies on Neptuno and life in the street on Perserverancia. While passing through Havana another time we stayed in Vieja and preferred this Centro location which made it easy to walk in any direction. I guess that's why some genius named it "Centro"! The Casa itself was ideal with a great colonial feel in the living/dining area. The bedroom was large and comfortable with private bathroom and shower. The hostess and her daughter were gracious and helpful.
If you want to meet with Cuban people and be able to walk around Havana this is the right spot to do so. You can walk east and find yourself in Old Havana or head west right to downtown Vedado. And if you are tired and need to cool off after a long hot day. just head to the rooftop at La Estanica from where you can enjoy Malecon Avenue and the Caribbean sea.
