I stayed here for three nights in December 2021 and loved it. Mario is a fantastic, professional, and accommodating host, who was more than happy to answer the various queries I had and gave me many suggestions for my itinerary to optimise my time in Havana. (Mario’s wife, Kenia, was abroad at the time, so only he was hosting). On arrival, Mario gave me a map of Old Havana (Habana Vieja) to help me find my way around. Most things to see in Old Havana are within walking distance of the casa. He kindly offered me a complimentary three hours of Wi-Fi service in the casa, which was very helpful; it ended up being much more time than I needed, as I spent most of my time out and about in the city. Mario also speaks English fluently (he spent many years working in Cuba’s tourist industry) – if you’re an English-speaking traveller with only a little/no understanding Spanish, you will not have to worry about communication here. And if you want to practise using your Spanish, he'll be more than happy to help you! My room was comfortable and suited my needs; unfortunately, there were some issues with the bathroom facilities in the first room I was in, but Mario happily helped me to move to the room next door to solve the problem. I didn’t arrive in Havana until the late afternoon on my first day in the city, so I spent that first evening and the following day getting familiar with the area. As a vegan, this meant that finding food was a little challenging at first, as I did not really know where would be best to go. Rather helpfully, Mario’s mother-in-law was more than happy to prepare me some delicious meals for that first period, and throughout my whole stay here, which I kept in my fridge each day and reheated after returning to the casa after my morning activities. I made sure to give her a generous tip after checking out on my last day. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Havana and Mario’s assistance/guidance ensured I got the most out of my stay. I’d certainly recommend this casa to anyone travelling through Havana. Cuba is a lovely country, and I look forward to returning very soon! (A final point on food: for the time I was there, Mario explained to me that the casa wouldn’t be offering its usual breakfast service. Make sure to check with him/Kenia when booking to see if they’ll have it back for the dates you’re planning to visit.)…
Lovely clean rooms in a perfect location, the hosts are incredibly helpful & friendly- they even helped us with things after we’d left Havana. We were made to feel very welcome & would definitely return if we ever visit Cuba again. Thanks for everything Kenia & family, & sorry it took us so long to write your review! Adam & Hannah
We didn't have a great start to our Cuban holiday, we stayed for the first 3 nights at this Casa - thank goodness we did. Our luggage got lost and the family who owned the Casa were brilliant, they kept us cheerful, lent us things and phoned up the airport to chase things up. The place is spotless, the breakfast was lovely and the room/bed very nice. We would definitely recommend - and thank our hosts again for being so wonderful.
I just spent 4 nights here as a solo traveller. Kenia, her staff & family were so friendly & helpful. Breakfast was substantial and really set me up for the day. I got to chat with other guests at the breakfast table, great for getting tips on where to go & what to do. Location is a short walk from Parc Centro. I would happily stay with Kenia again.
First stayed at Casa Castellon in 2018, my 8th trip to Havana. I had no hesitation in rebooking when I returned to Havana in January 2020 and was delighted to find that Kenia had an extra room and could take all six of us for both or our periods in Havana. The casa is well located in old Havana in a quiet street that runs between the Museo de la Revolucion and El Paseo del Prado. The Malecon and Parque Central are only a few minutes stroll away. Lots of very good restaurants close by too. The rooms are on the 3rd and 4th floors of a small block of flats. Don’t worry, there’s a lift (and a hairdresser and manicurist on the ground floor too). Neat, comfortable, very clean and practical en-suite rooms. I don’t need to repeat the room descriptions and list the amenities, they are exactly as described on the cover page on Trip Advisor. Kenia is a wonderful host. A delightful lady who speaks very good English, very knowledgeable and helpful. Kenia arranged airport pick-up and return, and mini-van for our transfer to Vinales. She has a wonderful team to help her too, a very happy casa. The outstanding breakfasts will set you up for the day. I intend to return to La Habana. Kenia and Casa Castellon will be first on my list. Highly recommended.…
Stayed 3 nights on arrival and 1 on our way back. Kenia and Mario very welcoming, hospitable and helpful. Mario arranged a taxi for us to Ernest Hemingway's house at a good price. Great location. Comfortable, clean and quiet. Ground floor entrance gate is well lit at night. Highly recommended.
Room and bathroom were in good condition and very clean. There are two small windows in the bathroom that are facing backyard that you can open for some fresh air from outside. Breakfast was very good and hospitality of the whole family was really great.
We spent 4 nights in Havana in this exceptionally clean and well located casa particular. Kenia and her family are incredibly welcoming and make you feel home. The location is ideal and feels pretty safe. Highly recommended!
Kenia and Mario's home has a fantastic location, in the heart of Havana Vieja. Their hospitality is superb, they are available, flexible, and accommodating. They always went the extra mile to help us enjoy and make the most of our stay at their casa. Staying there will only enhance your trip!!!
Dear Kenia and Mario Thank you so much for the opportunity to become a member in your family. To have long discussion in English about everything, to know Kenia`s Brother – Arnesto and your elegant sweet mother. It’s not just about a nice, cool, clean room and space you have, it’s not just the excellent place your apartment locates, it’s much more than that. It’s the way you gave us the opportunity to be a part of your family in only two days I wish we can have a chance to host you in our home soon
