We spent 5 days at Casa Bellavista and we were so impressed with the amazing hospitality of Mauricio and his wife. This was our first visit to Cuba and we didn’t know what to expect. Mauricio is an excellent guide and has encyclopaedic knowledge of Cuba and first hand knowledge of its history. Make sure to go on a Havana tour with him, you won’t be disappointed! My husband and I were literally dancing at times. The accommodation was comfortable, private, clean and safe with a stunning view of the Malécon and Havana beyond. Our room was air conditioned. They ensured the drinking water was safe for us. We were offered the option of breakfast which was very convenient, healthy and tasty. Food was readily available nearby and could be delivered. Our experience exceeded expectations. Summary: Fabulous hosts, great location, amazing views, comfortable accommodation. You can’t go wrong!…
This is an excellent B&B with a panoramic view of Havana and the magnificent shoreline avenue (Malecon). The beds are really good, very private and comfy. The owners are very kind, with a know of knowledge about the city and the country. I strongly suggest this Casa Bellavista for families, business and other trips!!
I stayed six days in this very beautiful suite apartment in the nice neighborhood of Miramar. The best part is being welcomed by a Cuban couple that will tell you all you need to know about Cuba, very rich in historical knowledge of the country...the conversations per se were a real highlight of my visit. Then you have an amazing view of Havana, excellent location, if you like jogging you can go jogging at the Malecón in the mornings, precious experience! The breakfast is really good, withr fruit, eggs, bread, good Cuban coffee... you will miss the breakfasts! The two rooms they have available for rent are both very good, clean and with bathrooms. One is larger than the other. I enjoyed the place, the balcony, and as I said before, the conversations witht the hosts! Highly recommended!…
Here's just some of the reasons why I loved staying at this place: - The owners Mauricio and Sara are very helpful and interesting people. Their level of English is very high, and their knowledge of the city is invaluable. They are sociable if you want to talk, and also give you plenty of space and privacy if you want to relax. - The view/location. Look at the photos of the view, it's even better when you see it in real life! You are a short ride from the main attractions, but also just far enough away that you won't see many other tourists, and therefore won't have to deal with any touts. Also, the other great thing about this location is the fresh sea air, much nicer than the fumes that linger in the dense streets of Havana. - Facilities. The apartment has everything you need and more - it even has a piano that's fully tuned and a delight to play. Also, if you need to buy anything, the apartment is a 5 minute walk from "La Puntilla", which is one of the best stocked shopping malls in the city. It was an authentic and highly enjoyable experience, I'm definitely staying here again next time I'm in Cuba!…
Mauricio and Sarah are wonderful hosts. I have now stayed a few times at the apartment and love the view and company they have to offer. Breakfast is always wonderful. The food in the neighbourhood has a great selection from a simple sandwich to a fine dining experience. Need anything and Mauricio will do his best to help you from getting a taxi to booking an excursion to visit the various places in Cuba.
We stayed with Mauricio and Sarah, and loved it. He is invaluable in helping you book taxis, trips, and offers helpful information. He knows lots of people who can drive, give tours, everything. The breeze and view on the large, top floor patio give an unbeatable view of Havana, the river, and you can watch old cars on El Malecón. The beds aren’t the greatest, but the space is large, cold ac, a safe(which we never used-we felt like we were staying with family), breakfast is delicious, and we would stay there again! When I asked about finding soap like in the bathroom, Mauricio gave me many bars to take home. There are several local restaurants, where the food is cheaper and much better than the tourist areas, & the area is very safe.
Already two weeks ago, we spent our time in the casa of Mauricio. He is a great host and give us much information about Havana. The Breakfast in the morning was amazing with a beautiful view! Thanks Mauricio. Greetz from Holland!
Very warm welcome by the nicest hosts. The area is quiet but has all need need near by. The breakfast were very good (you can't eat fruits after tasting Cuban's fruits!). I would recommend this great place to everybody.
Where to start... We were two couples and various teenagers coming and going from Havana on different dates, and Mauricio and Sara were flexible and accommodated our every need. In fact, it became a joke: what could Mauricio fix or arrange on our behalf today? This included last-minute travel plans outside of Havana. Mauricio has friends everywhere, including casa particular owners in Playa Larga and Viñales we enjoyed very much. In Havana it's fun to stay in Miramar, to see another neighborhood. Their spacious 10th-floor apartment looks down on a meaningful spot for Santería followers, the confluence of river and sea where two powerful orishas (gods) come together. From the lovely terrace the view of sky and water is always changing. The taxis to Centro can add up but zooming along the Malecón each day is wonderful, and you really feel you are getting away from the crazy tourist scene in this quiet neighborhood. Mauricio is full of ideas and recommendations, and can arrange guides. We HIGHLY recommend you ask for his friend Evelyn, a young art historian who is highly knowledgable about all aspects of the city (history, architecture, current affairs, etc.), and is also a wonderful guide to the Matanzas area. What else? The breakfasts are delicious and served with a lot of warmth from the kitchen helpers. Beatles fans will love the decor (we esp liked the poster of John Lennon as Che). Staying here you feel very much a part of things. Can't wait to visit again!…
We absolutely loved our stay with Mauricio and Sara. They could not have been more hospitable to our family. Both spoke perfect English and they were enjoyed wonderful discussions about Havana, Cuban food and Cuban history. Mauricio arranged our taxi rides and took us on a Hemingway tour which was fascinating. The accommodations were extremely clean, the food was terrific and the view was just incredible. We couldn't help but congregate on their wonderful terrace and enjoy the view in between our outings. Mauricio made every effort to help us during our visit. We feel incredibly lucky to have stayed here rather than a hotel. We hope to return!
