It is in a great location. The apartment has 3 very nice rooms, clean and well taken care of. Esteban, Sila, and Isa are the best. They'll make you feel at home!! HA, great breakfast. Juices, Fresh Fruits, eggs, coffee, and also a nice balcony with a great view. Highly Recommended !!!
We stayed a week in this lovely home and got the genuine family feeling. Relaxing in the lounge with our hosts, discussing all kinds of issues, from fruits and cakes to politics, This is a real casa particular as we like it. It is a big apartment, well appointed and the three rooms they rent out are spacious, two of them with en suite bathrooms. The third room would suit a family if they share the same bathroom. The rooms' location gives you some privacy, as the owners live in another part of the apartment. There is a nice balcony with a view to the sea and the neighbourhood. Although it is located in a street with some traffic, sometimes heavy, it is on the fifth floor and we were not so disturbed by it. The room close to the kitchen is more quiet. There is plenty of space for your suitcases and its contents. There are aircon and fans in every room. The breakfast is good and the service is excellent. The location could not be better, Vedado is a residential area with lots of restaurants, bar, and entertainment. Hotel Nacional is a five minutes walk away and Habana Libre is even closer up the road. If you like jazz music, the superb La Zorra y el Cuervo jazz club is nearby, on la Rampa between Nacional and Habana Libre, 5-10 minutes walk. You are also close to the sea and you can walk to Habana Vieja. We strongly recommend this casa and will definitely come back one day.…
The house is in a great location. Vedado is a nice neighbourhood, not as busy as touristic Old Havana but very lively and with many bars and restaurants. The house is walking distance (about 20 min) to Old Havana, it's a nice walk along the Malecón. The house is nice and clean, with a great terrace where you can chill with nice views. There's also access to internet, which is not common in Cuba. The room had a fridge and a safe, comfortable beds, private bathroom and was very clean. The breakfast was delicious and abundant. Esteban has a great knowledge about Cuban history and we had interesting conversations. We had a wonderful stay. I would totally recommend it!
For us this was the best casa particúlar in Havana. Estéban is a genuine and kind host, and also very generous. The place is clean, close to many restaurants and hot spots in charming Vedado. We were traveling with our 3 year old kid and our very friendly hosts made us very comfortable with an extra bed and everything we needed! We highly recommend this place to everyone! Best, Olga and Salomon from Sweden
The room was very nice; comfy and clean. It's part of their main apartment. The apartment is in Vedado and is 5 minute walk from the famous jazz club La Zorra y El Cuervo on the famous street La Rampa. It's also a short walk from the Hotel Nacional and the Malecon. You can walk to the Old Town in about 40 minutes, or taxi for 5 CUC. It's located on a busy street so quite noisy early in the morning but we closed the windows and used the air con to keep cool and that was fine. Esteban and Cila were friendly and welcoming. Cila is wonderfully chatty and sweet but doesn't speak any English so I was glad to have some Spanish so that I could enjoy her company. Esteban speaks some English; he picked us up from the airport for 25 CUC which was great, and we had a rum and a chat on arrival. PS. For food, the paladar on the corner is very expensive (!) but serves good food with good service and live music. Bar Waoo just up the road across from Hotel Havana Libre is a great choice for food and cocktails.…
Esteban picked me up from the airport for 25CUC, -which is about the going rate- and was much appreciated. The apartment is several floors up ?4 or 5 (there is a lift) and it faces the road with a lovely balcony. It requires several keys to enter the locked doors, which took a little getting used to. My daughter and I had the back room which was spacious but spartan-looking compared to Western standards (like ALL casas in Cuba) with a single and double bed. Room and ensuite bathroom were clean with hot water. We had a little hiccough with a leaking shower hose, but that was promptly fixed by Esteban. The spacious bedroom had a decent sized wardrobe and large fridge, and opening windows. It was a little noisy at times from the street but we didnt find it a problem. Beds were firm but comfortable. Breakfast was more than adequate with the usual fresh fruit, bread, eggs and coffee. Dona Clara is getting old and a little forgetful, but she is very sweet. Esteban was helpful with our queries..he speaks only a little English, but my daughter was able to converse with him and the family in Spanish. Neighbourhood was good -near the Malecon and walkable to Old Havana in about 15 mins. After staying in other casas, my only sl negative comment would be that it was a little expensive compared to other casas in Havana, but we were there in peak season.…
To put it simply, Esteban and his family are truly great people. Not only is the accommodation great, but their attention to detail and welcoming attitude made staying there a pleasure. Esteban was incredibly helpful and sorted accommodation for us when we travelled to other cities, and also when we returned to Havana a week later. Great place, great people. Will see you again. Best Rupert and Thomas
Staying at Dona Clara Rent was fantastic. Everything is perfect: location, accommodation and the surround area. Location is central, easy to go to Old Havana, Malecon and Plaza de la Revolución. The room was comfortable and clean. Hospitality was amazing, with Esteban, Dona Clara and their family. We highly recommend this place if you visit Havana!
Last month I went on a delegation to Cuba and after looking at the reviews of the hotel they put us up in, I decided to stay in a Casa Particular. Coincidentally, the one I chose that had room for me during those dates was right around the block from the hotel. The price of the room at Dona Clara rents was about the same as a single supplement at the hotel. So even though I didn't get my money back from the hotel, I figured it was a sunk cost. It was very easy to communicate with Esteban via email prior to my arrival. He answered all my questions promptly and even offered to pick me up at the airport. Although I didn't need a ride from the airport, he did drive me to another location later than evening to meet up with my tour. I had breakfast there the first morning. It was pretty typical for the breakfasts they serve in Cuba: coffee, fruit, bread, eggs and juice. At 5 CUC, it was fairly priced and quite good. However, since I had already paid for all the breakfasts at the hotel, I decided to eat the remaining breakfasts there with my group. The room I got was quite charming. The bathroom was very functional, and the shower had hot water always and good pressure. Every morning their housekeeper made my bed and even changed the sheets mid-week. The room was fairly quiet after 11 pm after all the street noise died down. One morning I was awoken quite early by a man at the apartment building across the way talking into his phone pretty loudly. Other than that, I got good nights sleep every night. Although Clara speaks no English and Esteban speaks only a little, I was able to make my wants and needs quite clear. The last day I was there, Esteban's sister who speaks English quite well came to visit. I was able to ask her all the questions I had about Esteban and his background. And when I suggested we go out for coffee, they were happy to do so, and Esteban even paid for my coffee. I would highly recommend staying in a Casa Particular over a hotel when visiting Cuba, especially if you speak Spanish. And I recommend Dona Clara Rents wholeheartedly.…
We had a driver organised by Esteban to collect us from the airport, timely and professional, smart and friendly. Situated on L Street, a few minutes walk from the Malecon and Hotel Nacional, Old Havana is approximately a 10minute drive. We had a very warm welcome from Esteban and his mother. The breakfast was inexpensive and delicious. Esteban was very helpful with everything and knowledgable, he and his mother were hospitable throughout. The balcony overlooked a bustling street, with good views. Maybe a little noisy, the same as any other city, but what we expected. The room was spacious, had a shower with hot & cold, a fridge with cold drinks and a/c. What more do you want? It was a great experience and we highly recommend it. Go for it!
