I’ve just got back from Cuba holidays I’ve stayed in Havana in mesmerising please being looked after by so kind and ever so helpful Flora. Beautiful place and absolutely fabulous breakfast we got every morning always just when We got up ready for a day of exploring beautiful Havana. Will be definitely back there hopefully very soon.
I was staying across the road for a month but had my breakfast every day in this casa (since colleagues of mine stayed there). Good price quality for a casa particular, paid more in hotels that were worse equipped. It's neat, has charm, a tortoise which is really social, very friendly and welcoming (English speaking) owners, a nice porch. The breakfast consists of fruits, coffee and omelette, "every day the same for the rest of your life", as the ever joyful Osvaldo jokes about it. But knowing the Cuban reality and the effort one has to go through to source the ingredients, I'd say that's a bargain.
I have stayed in Casa de la Flora while holidaying in Cuba. What a lovely place and amazing hospitality from our host. Homely atmosphere, great breakfast we couldn’t ask for better place. Very close to the centre of Havana. Definitely recommend
We came back only a week ago and we are already planning to go back and stay with Flora and Osvaldo in order to explore the western part of the island further. The hosts gave us great advise when we were in doubt as to the best way to travel around and also helped us organise our stay and travel to nearby areas.
We stayed for two nights with Flora and Oswaldo and were made to feel extremely welcome. This beautiful house in a leafy quiet street in Verdado was the perfect place to unwind from our two week trip to Cuba and still well placed for nights out in Old Havana. Even the tortoise who lives in the garden was friendly! The breakfast was excellent. We would recommend staying here in the large airy rooms with a beautiful veranda overlooking the street. We miss Cuba and hope to return one day!
I stayed here in February 2019 with my husband and daughter. Osvaldo was very friendly and welcoming, and made us feel like family. Very cozy, clean, comfortable and located in a great location. Highly recommended!
My stay here with Dr Flora and her husband in their beautiful home was a highlight of my recent visit to Cuba. My room was very clean and comfortable; there was air conditioning and a fridge as well as a private en-suite toilet and shower. It’s an old building so the plumbing sometimes took a few minutes to deliver the hot water... but there was plenty of it. Breakfast was delicious: a variety of fresh tropical fruit ( pineapple, banana, watermelon, papaya, guava), bread and jam and then eggs (scrambled or omelette). The coffee was really decent- hot and strong! With more available on request. The neighbourhood albeit a little dilapidated was very safe and as a lone female traveller, I felt very safe walking about here. The architecture was beautiful. Flora informed the house was built in 1920, in colonial times... a very different era in Havana. Wonderful to imagine what the house must have been like back then. There’s a beautiful veranda/ front garden with seats to relax and enjoy this lovely space. I also have to mention the house pet Fidelina, the giant turtle. She was always about to welcome me! The Casa is well placed. It was a very straightforward walk to the Malecon - about 15/20 minutes passing the Copelia ice cream shop on the way. The Malecon made for a lovely stroll, watching pelicans swooping and diving for fish. I was made to feel very welcome and at home in Flora’s Casa and I would highly recommend staying here.…
I stay here in April last year (2017). Flora and her husband are very friendly and welcoming. They went out of their way so many times and made us feel like family. Very easy to have a conversation with them, they are a well educated couple. I strongly recommend this place.
I stayed here with my young son and we had a great experience. The house is beautiful, with a shady, inviting porch (my son especially enjoyed hanging out with pet tortoise Fidelina). It’s located in a quiet neighborhood but walkable to Calle 23.The room was clean and comfortable with a good air conditioner. Breakfast was delicious, with excellent coffee. I was able to use the laundry sink but it’s also possible to pay for clothes washing at a reasonable rate. Osvaldo was a fun and friendly host. We really enjoyed our stay - highly recommended!
We spent 3 nights at the quaint little place. It was a very comfortable stay living with a good Cuban family. Got a lot of info about Cuba's past and present from the host Oswaldo. Oswaldo gave us a short tour of the city in his car the day we arrived. The breakfast served was very substantial and fully catered to our needs. Would highly recommend Oswaldo's retreat. He has a 50 year old Galapagos Turtle that comes to greet you when you enter the gate. 💃
