Just got back from Havana, upon arrival the person who met us had to leave right away. We stayed at the second floor, we didn't receive any information, there was no water or any food available. In the morning we didn't know where to go, the roof top was closed and it took a while to find out where the breakfast was being served. The rooms were clean, and we felt safe, once we learned more about the place things improved. A little attention to details would make it much better.

we stayed at Humberto's house and loved it! The house is good, really spacious and quiet and very clean. The bathrooms and shower are 5 stars too. it is very central, if you like walking - like we do - you can walk nearly everywhere from there! we had two rooms so the flat was for all for us. Humberto is a wonderful host, never let us down and helped us in all we needed. He found us another casa when we needed on our way back - Elia and Arnolis, the kindest hosts - and a super reliable and friendly taxi driver - Juan Miguel - to drive us to the airport.

I just wanted to thank Humberto and Irene for all their assistance while we stayed at their flats. They really made our stay very pleasant and they made us feel like at home. One special thank you to Irene for looking after me and Shuna when we got really sick. She was truly wonderful. Your flats are really beautiful and comfortable. The only thing I would add is a washing machine which would be really useful especially for longer stays. We count to come back again one day soon. Hasta pronto. Divina

I want to keep this place a secret because it's the best. 2 bedrooms with air conditioning and 2 full bathrooms. Amazing outdoor terrace. Kitchen with everything for 4 people. BBQ but not enough gas to run it when I tried. Hosts where accessible always. I'll be back, if there's room.

Absolutely first class accommodation at Casa Berto, cannot recommend it highly enough. We stayed in the new top floor 2 bedroomed apartment with its own little garden terrace complete and we really could not fault it. Firstly, and I am sure all experienced travellers to Havana will appreciate the importance of this, the showers are fantastic with consistent hot water, and I mean HOT water and plenty of it (except when we had power cuts which can hardly be helped!) Good quality cotton sheets and fluffy towels are provided which are changed regularly. Also plenty of fans throughout and good air con in the bedrooms. It is all these little things as well as the excellent quality finish throughout the apartment which make Casa Berto head and shoulders above the rest in terms of providing what foreign travellers may hope for from a Casa The location is also excellent, just a couple of blocks from Galliano and the Malecon

My husband and I stayed in the 2nd floor apartment in May this year. A huge apartment with 2 spacious bedrooms, with a/c and fans and one with a safe, 2 beautifully appointed bathrooms with plentiful and very hot water. A fully equipped kitchen with a outside patio and BBQ too. Even a telephone for local calls! Maid service every other day, the place is spotless and very secure. Ideal if you are travelling as a family or as couples and are looking for privacy. Humberto is a lovely soul who speaks English very well and will arrange for cabs to and from the airport, and will help with any questions you may have. I also checked out the 1st floor apartment which is just as lovely and has 3 bedrooms. A great location just about 3 blocks from the Malecon and about a 15 minute walk to old Havana. This will definitely be our place to stay in the future. Thank you Humberto!

We just stayed at Casa Berto las May 2015. My friends and I always try to get Casa Berto whenever we travel to Havana. Humberto is the best host, friendly accommodating, making sure we have a nice vacation. He is a good friend to us too. He gives good suggestions where to get things we need and where to go buy our supplies and where to eat. He helped and picked us up from the airport and he made sure we have our rides to the airport on our departure. Thank you Humberto! We love the new additions to his casa. With two new rooms in the third floor . We don't have to stay in two different casas. The rooms are spacious, we have our private bathrooms and the casa gets clean as scheduled. We love eating by the garden, weather permitting. Another plus is having a safe box in one room in each floor. I felt better knowing my personal effects like passport, ID , travel, wallet and other valuables are in lock and key. Casa Berto is highly recommended! Looking forward to our next visit to Havana

Just got back from Havana. 10 days vacation. As usual we stayed at Casa Berto again. This time we stayed at the new 3rd floor apartment. We arranged with our friend Humberto (the owner of the apt) for an airport pickup. He was waiting with a big smile on his face when we arrived at the airport. We have stayed at his place so many times that he was almost like family to us. We have been to Cuba 9 times and stayed at so many other casa particulares but Humberto's hospitality and kindness has no match. This new apt is really nice. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths with new airconditoning on both rooms. The living room, dining and kitchen has an open layout and lots of ligt. Our favorite part of the apt is the outdoor patio. This is where we have our dinners and cocktails every night. The huge rooftop terrace is also accessable using the staircase on the side of the apt. If you enjoy cooking like we do, the 4 burner gas stove with oven was a big plus for us. There is a bakery next door where we get our fresh bread every morning. The grocery store is just 3 blocks away. You can buy your bottled water here and they have a good selection of Cuban Rums as well. Galiano St is just a short walk away. Here you can find Casa de la Musica, where different cuban bands plays everynight. Also along Galiano St, you can find plenty of restaurants and shops and the famous Malecon is also 3 blocks away, which by the way is an excellent place to watch the sunset and intermingle with the locals especially if you have a bottle of rum with you to share. This apt is also surrounded by really old and dilapidated buildings but it is 100% safe even at night. The people on the street are always very friendly to us. I highly recommend Casa Berto for your home away from home in Havana.

Humberto, the casa owner, showed up as promised at the airport, bringing us quickly to the Casa Berto apartment. Because of what we had heard about friends visiting Cuba earlier, our expectations were pretty low. To our big surprize the apartment was awesome! Spacious, clean, aircondition, a great kitchen and the best location! Even stable, hot water in the shower - every day! One of the rooms also got an safe deposit box for sharing. We felt very safe staying there, so we kept it for the entire two weeks staying.

Stayed in Casa Berto a few months bag. It was refreshing to have a clean spacious Casa, with powerful hot shower (a rarity in Cuba sometimes), spacious terrace and modern, even with a barbecue grill. Very close and within walking distance of Old Havana and other major attractions. A great and attentive host that speaks English and willing to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
