Dear Sir: We are very sorry for what happened during your stay at our hotel. We have applied disciplinary measures to the entire work shift because it does not specify names, but we cannot allow attitudes such as those to obscure the image and prestige of an installation like ours, we hope it will come back and be able to positively reward its bad experience. Best regards,

I recently stayed at Santa Isabel for a week and did not have a good experience, unfortunately. First, the positives: decent location within walking of lots of attractions and restaurants; the hotel architecture is interesting, with high-ceilinged rooms; some staff were pleasant, breakfast was okay, bed was comfortable. The negatives: - for the price, the amenities and services were very poor. Compared to the Parque Central where I hung out with friends who were staying there, which had a lively lobby bar/resto and pools, gym, etc., Santa Isabel is just dead and dull. The bar wasn't even open while I was there; - The elevator was broken for 90% of my stay; - The front desk staff, one young woman in particular, was cold and unfriendly; - My room key card kept not working, and when there's no elevator it's a real pain to find out after climbing the stairs to your room; - There was a strong smell of gas/propane in the hall and inside my room. It may have been from the kitchen, but it was very hard to take; - It's very noisy inside the hotel. With doors banging (because they don't fit properly) and cleaning staff talking very loudly to each other it was hard to get a good night's sleep. All in all, it was an expensive place to stay with little to offer in return. I don't recommend it at all.

Dear Sir: We are very sorry for your negative experience in our hotel, to tell you that we are in constructive improvements because it is an old building that cannot be compared to a modern construction. However, within the improvements, changes in the recreational point of view are also planned in order to make the stay of our customers without affecting the concept of the installation, its history and tradition. We hope you will honor us on another occasion with your visit and give us the opportunity to reverse the criteria you have of our hotel. Thank you, comments like yours allow us to improve and work with the young staff that is incorporated into our team and that should be better every day.

Great location but I won’t get back there any time soon: staff was unfriendly (especially at reception), breakfast was anemic (minimum service, no buffet), rooms were “just ok” (certainly not the quality we had in other similar hotels in Havana and we expected for that price), they charge customers for anything and everything (they charge an eye watering 10% fee to change EUR to CUC this is 4x as much as fees we were charged by other hotels and by restaurants in Havana). The best moment we had at Santa Isabel is ... when we left.

From playing piano in the open air atrium to drinking mojitos on the front promenade, this was best place to stay for presidents, diplomats and foreign agents. A little sun, a little street music and a tiny bit of romantic intrigue in the public square beats any Hemingway or Graham Greene novel.

A hotel with plenty of history, President Jimmy Carter stayed at the hotel twice. In the heart of old Havana next to the harbor. Walking distance from all the tour sites, restaurants, hemingway favourite places. The rooms are big and majority has a square view- 3rd floor all rooms has access to a wide terrace, AC working and minibar, they have in-room coffee machine (like nespresso) Bathroom old, but working and clean Staff are great and helpful Breakfast a la carte, OK

We visited this bar for a drink - lovely frozen daiquiri. However we stayed much longer because of the fantastic music being played by Oscar and his family. They are a delight and well worth visiting this bar to hear.

I loved this hotel. The location is perfect on one of the most beautiful public square. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby, walking distance. It has a small bar in the lobby and a restaurant attached to the hotel. I only had breakfast there and it was fine. Not great but fine. The rooms of the hotel are perfect! Simple decor but spacious rooms and very comfortable. I would go back to this hotel on my next Havana visit.

We stayed here for 3 nights in April 2019. The hotel is a beautiful building, with lots of faded charm, which we loved. The hotel’s position was great, in Old Havana. Our room had a balcony with a beautiful sea view and down to a beautiful square below. This is not the smartest of hotels, with aged bathroom fittings etc. But what it lacked in swanky newness was more than made up for by the beautiful building and faded colonial charm that made this a perfect place to stay while in Havana.

If you hanker for Colonial, than this is the sweet spot . The building is solid, cool and has colonnades, elegant columns and foliage throughout the central foyer which displays a bespoken elegance. Its Spanish to the core and served as a mansion to the counts of Santovenia . Its stylish enough to give it 3.5 stars with a atrium open to the roof, from which is suspended the biggest Cuban flag . Furnishings are nice as is the abundant vegetation. The roof is a great lookout from which the whole city is laid out, showing baroque monuments, the mall on, the bay \, Christ statue of Habana and La Giraldilla. The hotel is situated on the end of the beautiful Plaza de Armes, Havana’s first square. You couldn’t find a richer spot for historical bearing. Its all here: the Palace of the general captains, the Palacio del Segundo Cabo, the public library and the first fortified garrison in Latin America . Our room had a tall ceiling, with comfortable furnishings and terrific beds. Sleep was perfect this end of Havana. Its not in the busy bustling area. The only thing that i had to complain about was the intermittent access to hot water or at times no flow at all. It has to do with old pipes and Havana’s notorious water works. That said, breakfast on the patio was super with a half decent double espresso and ample choice of fruit and breads. Staff are amiable in the classic Havana pose. If they can furnish what you crave it works .
